"El Pantera" is one of the Caballeros Templarios leaders,
identified by the autodefensas council.
Today in Arteaga Michoacán, members of the Federal Police, shot
and killed Francisco Nuñez Galeana alias "El Pantera". Nuñez was one of the most
sought after Caballeros Templarios lieutenants in the state of Michoacán.
The incident occurred at kilometer 190 of Lazaro Cardenas-Nueva Italia highway, while
the soldiers of the National Security (CNS), carried out an operation to locate him.
A chase ensued when the driver of the late model gray
Frontier truck, ignored orders to stop, instead the occupants began firing at the police convoy and also
used fragmentation grenades.
Federal forces had been tracking "The Panther", through
intelligence activities for weeks. In
the truck and also killed, was an unidentified woman and another male subject.
After the
confrontation, the elements of the CNS, confiscated the vehicle, two grenade
launchers, two rifles, grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition of
different calibers.

It's kind of sad that the auto defenses had to do the governments job. The only reason they stepped in was to not look bad and to make sure the movement did not spread throughout Mexico. If the Gov cared about the people and not the peso they would have cleaned up Michoacan a long time ago.

ReplyDeleteyou should look up milenio or el proceso newspages and if not a spanish speaker, use google translate...the translation might be choppy but you should be able to get the gist of the story...milenio has up to the minute articles, including ones about guerrero which BB doesn't seem to care about
I'm hopeful that Chayo is indeed surrounded and that la tuta is also there.

Thats true!, Chivias does beat them to the punch often, but Milenio is also reporting on what goes in Guerrero as well as all the killings that have been happening in the State of Mexico (lots), supposedly by CDG. Chivis might have it up first, but the Milenio comments are usually from people living where its happening. Its easier to get a pulse of whats going on by reading what the people living through it are saying, as opposed to the crowd of mostly English only speakers here. If it doesn't apply to you, no worries. Also, as good a job as Chivis does, she does censor some of the posts if they don't conform to her views of what should and what shouldn't be said about the causes she supports, even if the post is polite and from reputable sources. she does a good job overall and its her blog to do with as she pleases. I appreciate the news she provides (if chayo is caught/killed, she most definitely said it first). besides, why does it have to be one or the other, a smart person would consider as many sources as possible and form their own opinions. i come here too despite what i consider the forum's flaws. And i go there to broaden my spanish vocabulary, which is definitely not going to happen for me reading in English...all day yesterday Milenio was posting updates on the move towards Morelia by the ADs and Castillo's remarks, which i didnt see here. as stated, it doesn't have to be one or the other. by looking at both, you get a bigger picture.
