Mexico Arrests Zetas Leader Omar Trevino Morales (Z-42)

CAPTURED

UPDATE 11:AM
Borderland Beat posted by DD republished from ABC News
UDATES;  The arrest took place in a safe-house in  San Pedro Garza García, New León and was carried out by the Marines and Federal Police.  According to Reforma about 50 elements of the Federal Police and Marines carried out the operation and federal officials described it as a "clean operation" and that no shots were fired.  and the operation was directed from Mexico City.

According to neighbors the Marines and Federal Police started about midnight in establishing a perimeter of about 200 meters around the house and this was later expanded when elements of the Army arrived and that the Army's role was limited to maintaining the perimeter.  Only residents who were verified to live in the area were allowed entry to the colonia called  Fuentes del Valle.  No elements of the municipal or state police were involved "because it was a federal operation".

Milineo reported that  San Pedro Garza García, where the leader of The Zees was captured, is the richest municipality of the country where many of the richest businessmen in Mexico live.

SinEmbargo said Trevino was charged with possession of illegal arms intended for exclusive use of the military and being involved in organized crime.  He also has indictments in the US for cocaine trafficking from Mexico to US.

It also said that with this arrest, 91 members of criminal organizations have been arrested or killed out of a  total of 122 priority objectives set by the government of Enrique Peña Nieto at the start of his term in December 2012.  (DD; I have never seen a published list of those 122 "priorities".)

The actual detention operation began about 4:AM and the Marines, Federal Police, and the elements of the Army left the scene with Omar Trevino about 7:55 in a convoy.

However, as strange as it seems, they did not secure the house to protect any evidence.  A large garage door was left open and there was at least one woman inside the house who yelled at the mass media who were assembled outside the house, "Get back".
Trevino's safe house where he was arrested.

The fact of it being another big arrest "with no shots fired",  that the operation was directed from Mexico City, that media was present outside the house observing the events, and that the house was not secured to preserve any evidence that was possibly inside makes me wonder what is going on.  Was this a staged event?

It is hoped that in the next hours a press conference should offer details of the detention of the absolute leader of The Zees, although there is not defined yet if it will be in the facilities of the Secretary of Government or in the PGR.

DD:  Reports from many media sources are reporting the capture this morning of the alleged and presumed leader of the Zetas.  Details of the capture are scant at this point, but we will be updating this as more info is reported.  This report is from an AP story reported by ABC News.  Reportedly Trevino was captured about 4:30AM and BB started receiving reports from readers as early as 5:28  AM.

From ABC :
Mexican police and soldiers arrested the Zetas drug cartel leader Omar Trevino Morales, alias "Z-42," on Wednesday, a federal official said.

The official, who was not authorized to be quoted by name due to government policy, said Trevino Morales was arrested in a pre-dawn raid in San Pedro Garza Garcia, a wealthy suburb of the northern city of Monterrey.

The Mexican government had offered a 30-million peso ($2 million) reward for his capture on weapons and organized crime charges.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration had offered a $5 million reward for his capture, saying he was wanted on drug-trafficking charges, but listed "Omar" as an alias and his given name as Alejandro.

The suspect is the brother of Miguel Angel Trevino Morales, described as the most bloodthirsty leader of Mexico's most violent cartel.

Miguel Angel was arrested in July 2013, almost a year after marines killed the Zetas' other biggest leader, Heriberto Lazcano "El Lazca."

The Zetas carved a path of brutality, bloodshed and mutilated bodies across northern Mexico during their turf battles with the rival Gulf cartel.

Much of the violence along Mexico's northeast border, however, is now due to internal battles among factions of the Gulf cartel.

"Chapo Snitched" do you really think that this Chapo is the "All Knowing Guru"
of Mexico and can have any one picked up by the authorities any time he feels like it? He might have been the Shot Caller for the CDS but if he knew where all the others were he would have Won his Plaza's without firing a shot! As well as he isn't going to get any significant time knocked off his sentence by giving his Own People Up never mind people he has no idea of where they are or what their doing at the present time. He's lucky just to be alive even in prison. A Big Wig like him has now been brought down to starting Food Complaints in the system along with Senor Barbie!

  2. Question? When a leader gets caught, for instance Chapo, Tuta, Z40, etc....where does all the money he gets goes? In the case of Chapo, did it go to Zambada? Tutas money where does it go now? N Z40 money who receives it his brother just got caught so who gets it? Can someone answer that?

    2. Usually the money is hidden or in accounts of legit family members/friends/associates or laundered into legitimate businesses in hope that they can enjoy it "when theyre out" like RCQ did. But usually the government will try to find the money and confiscate it and they usually do

  5. Wow. These guys are dropping like flies. It is clearly evident that the real bad-asses of Mexico are La Marina. When they come for you, your done! The Trevino Morales brothers would stop at nothing to lead Los Zetas. Both ruled for like a year and now take residence at Altiplano. Add the conviction of their brother and you can stick a fork in these motherfuckers. Also, the fact that Omar was caught so soon after Comandante Varo was taken down is suspect to say the least. EPN is crushing the cartels. The one thing people on here constantly say is that the govt is running the cartels. Taking bribes and laying the ground rules. This is bullshit. ALL cartels are getting hit and running scared. Viva La Marina!!!

    1. "EPN is crushing the cartels" pleeease, shut the fuck up. Either you're a government sicario(Marina, Police or whatever) or you don't live here in México to be saying that kind of uninformed things, so stop your EPN cheering. The only thing that mexican government is crushing is the chances of México to be a real country instead of a vault to be pillaged and burned by them, the friends of EPN.

    3. I live in mexico too I would like too know who in your opinion would govern mexico the best? It is our people that elect this government. That will sale there vote for a bag of food or 200 pesos. Mexico is very rich in oil and other recourses but our people don't know how use to our advantage. Most of our youth is caught in a narco culture and so are there parents. At some point we have to point the finger at our selfs.

      Delete
    4. The people united are the only people that can fix this corruption. Corruption is everywhere! Every western country is dictated by rich, vile, inhuman people. Our only hope is anarchism. We're alll human beings who should respect one another. Stamp out those that exploit us and kill us for wanting freedom for the future.

Gangs are everywhere. The police and politicians work for the gangs here, too. I imagine every Western society to be just as corrupt. Mexico's corruption is just so obvious that ours' doesn't seem so bad, but it is there and it shouldn't be!

Real democracy is where the people are the power. West democracy is dictatorship. One ruling class takes and takes and takes and makes us pay and pay and pay. The police work for these people and gangs. The wrong people. Corruption is the Western way.

So I believe in anarchism. It is the authority of yourself. In anarchy we are the police. Laws are just rules to protect the rich and criminal. The real laws are scientific, gravity. Anarchistic rules are to live and let live, protect the environment. No exploitation of others or our resources. We need a fair existence.

But the REAL end result will be a VERY big power vacuum across Mexico amog cartels that will ultimately lead to the Mexican gov. being the real mafia AGAIN. Like it was before they lost control of it. The PRI WILL BE the head of the mafia again...
Then there will be "peace" , abut its only false peace. But people will embrace it joyfully.

    1. Navy seals are in it too. Just like when they killed pablo escobar, they let the colombians take the credit. Now they let mexico take the credit each time they capture chapo or any of these mexican capos. Mexican government officials are too scared to go after them because they will get killed and some are in their pay roll, they won't kill a u.s government official so that's why they help. There are many generals from mexican marines and navy commanders that get killed in office or after they retire because they helped or didn't help organized crime. Just look at the mexian marine that helped kill beltran leyva in morelos, he got killed after that. Though it was his fault for posting pictures of himself next to botas blancas dead body on his underware. Real

      Delete
    2. Not all of the Marina were DEA just a few of them. If there are pictures of the arrest you will know exactly who were DEA and who were Marina even with their faces covered. There is always DEA and sometimes CIA with Marina when they go after the big fish. If only the Mexican government really knew how many times US Federal agents have been armed on Mexican soil. Man, it would be a total shit storm in the Mexican media. But what EPN and minions don't know won't hurt them.

      Delete
    3. At 1:46 FYI

The marine was killed during the takedown, then the media mentioned the name and then they killed his family.

He is king of the hill the only important drug lord with a 5 million bounty from the u.s government that is still at large. Z 42 was the other only capo left with 5 mill bounties on them. The captured ones just didn't have enough discipline about cities being hotspots where u could get caught more easily even if its a huge city like mexico city or Monterey. Mayo said it in his 2010 interview that the ones who get caught is because they expose themselves to much you have to live in rural places in isolated ranches or isolated haciendas like sosa had in the movie scarface zambada does it that style.

In the US it is no secret that Congress has its share of do-little moments quite frequently. This is not a one man error that all this has gotten so out of hand. It was out of hand before Mexico's current President and it will be long after. So my advice is to prepare yourselves for blaming the next guy and the one after that. This is a result of a total lack of governing.. The US do the same thing while Congress gets a pass.

  55. Ok...my opinion by popular demand..:)
I would say leadership will go to one of two guys

Maxiley Barahona Nadales, “El Contador or Sergio Ricardo Basurto Peña “el Grande “

Sergio is very close to Miguel Treviño, he is said to trust him most after Omar. He was given a much greater role after Lazca's death, most likely to prep him for leadership.

But Maxiley is shrewd but brutal even more so than lazca was.

True they had US help on the technology side but what the Pepes did is methodically kill everyone who had anything to do with Escobar. If you gave him a fucking haircut, you got killed. Eventually after so many people getting killed no one even wanted to talk to the guy let alone help him. Escobar was completely isolated - hell he was afraid the Pepes were going to kill his family which is why he tried to get them out of the country. This is what Mexico needs - a ruthless fucking death squad like Los Pepes who will fucking kill anyone and everyone associated with these bastards.

    1. First of all it wasn't the Colombians, Seals nor Los Pepes who killed Pablo it was the Deltas. It was documented by Colombian soldiers who stated that there were Americans with them at the raid. Those soldiers also stated the Deltas were the ones who actually killed Pablo. And it was the CIA who funded Los Pepes. How do you think Los Pepes started their organization? Los Pepes were not some vigilante group which was started to protect the citizens. Their aim was to take over the cocaine trade from the Medellin and Cali Cartels. A group like that will do nothing for Mexico. They will just turn into another H3 or Los Viagras group. Another Wolf in sheep's clothing with the intentions to rape and extort the people Mexico.

  60. For the comment that said epn would be pissed if he knew how many CIA, DEA or seals are in his country, or on an op, and armed... who do you think our government talks to to send our men over there? Just the marinas? No. Epn administration knows everything that goes on pertaining to that matter. Unless the us sends people over there under the table.. then no one knows, and you can bet they're armed to the teeth, with armored vehicles. As for people snitching? Im sure most of them have. The same as I'm sure there's been a few that handed themselves over to be arrested. But wether they snitched or not, the U.S. would still, and have known for a while, be able to track them. I'm in no way a conspiracy theorist, but when it comes to stuff like that, if you don't believe our, or any other, government works this way, or has capabilities like that, you're a fool. These cartels are never going to die as long as there's idiots willing to make a quick, bloody buck. What worries me is that by arresting the old capos you leave the younger, more bloodthirsty, immature ones in charge, or worse, fighting to be in charge. ... if the capos had just kept it like the old days, theyd all still be free probably. And so many would still be alive.. So sad

  62. First and foremost, Mexico can't catch the guy selling ounce's of pot on some corner in Juarez, how the hell do you think they are catching these "Shot Callers"?? You guy's have been watching to many 1st 48 hours shows! D.E.A. has been calling the shots in Mexico since Ki Ki Camarena got offed!. After Mr Camarena was murdered is when Heads started to Roll in little ole Mexico. Prior to that the Capos ran Everything including the Government! Now it would seem with all the Hi-Tech information that the DEA pass's on to the Mexican Army and NAVY it's us who's policing Mexico.

  63. 10:38 Donkey Ass...the narcs can't keep it quiet because the federal and state police, army and politicians are always extorting them to thepoint they are killing and robbing each other, not that the government cares, ok, then they go around kidnapping innocent people for the ransom...
--narcos are too slow, that is why Genaro Garcia Luna, SSP chief had to do his own kidnappings with his own officers and Luis Cardenas Palomino, they even killed Enrique Salinas de Gortari for hell's shakes!!!
