This morning authorities of the PGR made public the capture of Damaso Lopez, better known as "El Licenciado", who the PGR gave account of on twitter.

During the last few weeks there has been a wave of violence in Sinaloa, which has been attibuted by the authorities to an internal purge in the Cartel Pacifico.

After the extradition of Chapo Guzman and the death of Juan Jose Esparragoza Moreno "El Azul", Ismael El Mayo Zambada became the main leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The group led by Damazo Lopez Nunez, alias El Licenciado, is in a dispute with Mayo Zambada and the sons of El Chapo Guzman for control of the Pacific Cartel ( Sinaloa Cartel ).

Damaso Lopez Nunez, was chief of security of the Puente Grande prison, and helped with the escape of El Chapo Guzman in January of 2001.

Lopez Nunez and a group of ex commanders of the Judicial Police of Sinaloa arrived to take care of security of the prison and to create an ambient condition for El Chapo, extending a network of corruption that later led to his escape.

Elements of the Army and the Criminal Investigation Agency of the PGR detained in Mexico City, Damaso Lopez Nunez, identified as one of the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The capture occurred int he Nueva Anzures colonia of the Miguel Hidalgo delegation, where soldiers in the support of the PGR, carried out a search that located Damaso Lopez.

LopezNunez was detained with other people, who were put at the disposition of Agents of the Public Ministry of the Federation more specifically SEIDO.

Damaso and his son, have aligned with Cesar Carrilio, son of the extinct leader of the Juarez Cartel, Amado Carrillo Fuentes, El Senor de los Cielos, the family which Chapo has been trying to kill for years, because of quarrels with the capos like Vincente Carrillo Fuentes, El Viceroy.

On the same day that the PGR detained El Licenciado, they achieved the arrest of his financial operator Victor Geovanny Gonzalez Sepulveda, El Chompiras.

Gonzalez Sepulveda was detained without violence in the Tezozomoc Colonia, in the Azcapotzalco delegation, in the outskirts of the town of Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico.

El Chompiaras formed part of the inner circle of trust of El Licenciado, and was in charge of his finances and logistics, that is to say, he payed the rent on houses and apartments used as safe houses, and payed the members of his criminal cell.

David N, alias "El Pollo", 49 years of age, alleged operator of the criminal group "Los Damaso" was detained by marines on the morning of the 1st of May, was found dead inside a van. According to the official version, "El Pollo" is linked with friends of Lopez Nunez, was detained along with four other persons, in an operation with army helicopters.

The Attorney General of the State, Juan Jose Rios Estavillo, explained that this past Monday, elements of the Marines asked for Forensic medical experts to attend a person that had been detained and died during his transfer.

The experts arrived at the scene and carried out their preliminary work, to establish events, and later transferred the body of David N, to carry out an autopsy.

Rios Estavillo explained that a woman that was accredited to be the partner of the victim, whose name is not revealed, came to reclaim his corpse, however it was explained to her that she would need to fill in various forms to take him.

The Attorney General said that they did not have any evidence that David N known as "El Pollo" was a family member linked to Damaso Lopez.
