Sonora: Jose Javier Rascon Ramirez reportedly killed in Agua Prieta shootout

Robbing from the dead

Note: Late last night I posted what was to be a draft of this story, I inadvertently hit ‘publish’ or as Sol said “everything is missing”.  I apologize.  I was coming up empty on a hard confirmation of this death.

What is on social media from Agua Prieta and Hermosillo is that Jose Javier Rascon Ramirez, “El Khadafi” or El Fox age 53, was killed.  He is/was Sinaloa Cartel’s long time plaza boss of Agua Prieta, Sonora. 

Agua Prieta is a town in the northeastern corner of the state of Sonora. It sits  on the Mexico–U.S. border, adjacent to the town of Douglas, Arizona.

In 2013 the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions against Rascon Ramirez, naming him the plaza boss of Agua Prieta.  In Narco terms he had longevity in his role as Jefe de Plaza.

At the time, the U.S. pointed out that the 8 men named for sanctions, “The eight people named by the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) have been embedded in their areas for many years and work directly for Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, head of the Sinaloa Cartel, said DEA spokesperson Ramona Sanchez.”

“They’re [the 8] are accused of controlling smuggling operations along the 375 mile U.S.-Mexico border, including Arizona border towns like Sonoyta, Nogales and Agua Prieta. The bosses each run a town used as a shipping point for drugs, and also oversee the flow of guns and cash from the U.S. back to Mexico to fuel their war and increase their market share of smuggling routes.

The Sinaloa Cartel is also thought to play a major role in the kidnappings and murders across Mexico. Some experts put the death toll in Mexico because of drug violence.”

In the shootout of two days ago, supposedly Rascon Ramirez was killed while riding in the white sedan [see below]. 

The clash

The clash was recorded from different points of the neighborhood and in the videos circulating on social networks it can be seen that  two  riding in the pickup were killed while in the vehicle., while in the black sedan a male and two females were reported killed.

In spite of the panic that most residents felt,  others  approached the scene of the crime and began to loot the cars from where they took out weapons, such as AK47,  cellular telephones and bulletproof vests. [see video]

The second clash was registered in the Sonoran capital, Hermosillo, at 4:40 pm on the streets of Benito Juárez and  the Colonia Centro, in a house known as El Inframundo where the police authorities found two people who had been kidnapped, one dead. 

The third event took place in the city of Naco at 4:42 p.m., where four dead people of the male sex were known to board a white sedan car after receiving several s\shots from an AK47.

Two thoughts; I don’t like to post news without verification but since I posted the title in error I thought I should explain.
