All victims are women
and children -- They were located yesterday at noon, after a bloody
confrontation between cartels in that area of Sonora.
Below are press reports first the mainstream Mexican press by Reforma....."LeBarón family massacre"
At least seven members
of the American Mormon family, with the surname LeBarón, were shot yesterday in
the boundaries between Sonora and Chihuahua.
The victims were three
adult women and four children.
The activist Julián
LeBarón informed REFORMA that, his cousin Rhonita María LeBarón and her four
children were found with gunshots and burned in a van.
Subsequently, other
cousins, who were traveling in two vans with their children, were abducted.
LeBarón said several of
the children managed to escape and ran to a property located several kilometers
away and said two women had been killed.
The activist said the
family had received threats of organized crime and had reported them.
The families had left
Bavispe, in Sonora - hometown of the SSPC chief, Alfonso Durazo - and were
heading to the La Mora ranch, in the Mennonite municipality of Galeana, in
Chihuahua.
The authorities of both
states implemented an operation and managed to locate five other children who
had escaped kidnapping.
Until 22:00 hours, the
Attorney General of Chihuahua had not officially established the number of
victims. [now 10 and more expected]
In social networks, a
video circulated in which the fully calcined truck in which five family
members, the mother and four children were traveling, can be seen.
According to social
media reports, two of the dead children were between eight and 10 years old,
while the other two were twins approximately six months old.
The activist Julián
LeBarón informed that he went along with federal soldiers and police to the
area in search of his relatives.
The US Embassy reported
following up on the case report.
"We are aware of
these reports. The safety and well-being of US citizens abroad are within the
highest priorities of the State Department," said the US Embassy when
questioned by REFORM.
The diplomatic
headquarters said they are in contact with Mexican officials of multiple levels
to offer all possible assistance to family members.
Given the threats of
organized crime, the LeBarón family and the Mennonite community in Galeana,
Chihuahua, had been supported by a group of Federal Forces of the PF for some
years to patrol the area.
The inhabitants paid
the food and lodging of a company made up of about 90 elements, but with the
arrival of the new federal government, the troops were withdrawn.
LA Times media report
MEXICO CITY — At least five U.S. citizens, including four
children, who lived in the Mexican border state of Sonora have been killed in a
shooting attack, relatives said Monday.
A relative who asked not
to be named for fear of reprisals said he had found the burned-out,
bullet-ridden SUV containing the remains of his nephew’s wife and her four
children.
Another relative,
Julian LeBaron, said on his Facebook page that the dead woman was Rhonita Maria
LeBaron. She apparently died along with her twin 6-month-old babies and two
other children, ages 8 and 10.
The first relative said
as many as 15 others were missing after the attack, which he attributed to drug
cartel gunmen. He said he saw dozens of heavily armed gunmen near the
burned-out vehicle.
The man said a convoy
of three vehicles had set out Monday from La Mora — a decades-old settlement
founded as part of an offshoot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints — but were attacked by cartel gunmen in what he said may have been a
case of mistaken identity. Two of the three vehicles with two women and 13
children were still missing.
Authorities in Sonora
state and the U.S. Embassy did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The federal Department
of Security and Citizens’ Protection said security forces were reinforced with
national guard, army and state police troops in the area following “the reports
about disappearance and aggression against several people.”
Jhon LeBaron, another
relative, posted on his Facebook page that his aunt and another woman were
dead, which could bring the death toll to at least seven. But Jhon LeBaron
posted that six of his aunt’s children had been left abandoned but alive on a
roadside.
The families lived in
La Mora, about 70 miles south of Douglas, Ariz. Many of the church’s members
were born in Mexico and thus have dual citizenship.
It would not be the
first time that members of the breakaway church had been attacked in northern
Mexico, where their forebears settled — often in Chihuahua state — decades ago.
In
2009, Benjamin LeBaron, an anti-crime activist who was related to those killed
in Monday’s attack, was slain in neighboring Chihuahua state. The victims
belonged to the LeBaron family from a breakaway Mormon community that settled
in the hills and plains of northern Mexico decades ago.
Two relatives Alex and
Julian LeBaron told Reuters nine people had died, though a government source
only confirmed five.
Julián LeBaron says 7 children remain missing |
It was unclear what
motivated the killings, which took place on Monday on a dirt road between
Chihuahua and Sonora states, both bordering the United States.
A video posted on
social media showed the charred and smoking remains of a vehicle riddled with
bullet holes that was apparently carrying the victims when the attack happened.
“This is for the
record,” says a male voice in an American accent, off camera, choking up with
emotion.
“Nita and four of my
grandchildren are burnt and shot up.”
Reuters could not
independently verify the video.
Mexico has been hit by
a wave of attacks in recent weeks, shocking even for a country inured to a
decade of drug war violence. The most notable incident was a military-style
cartel assault that forced the government to release a leader of the Sinaloa
Cartel in October.
Given U.S. citizens
were killed on Monday, the incident may increase pressure from Washington on
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to rein in armed groups. There was no
immediate indication of who was behind the attack.
Gunmen kill Mormon family members in north Mexico
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -
Gunmen have killed up to nine members of a U.S. Mormon family, believed to be
mainly children, in the latest massacre to afflict Mexico, family members said.
The victims belonged to
the LeBaron family from a breakaway Mormon community that settled in the hills
and plains of northern Mexico decades ago.
Two relatives Alex and
Julian LeBaron told Reuters nine people had died, though a government source
only confirmed five.
It was unclear what

“WE DON’T KNOW WHO DID
IT”
Chihuahua and Sonora
state governments issued a joint statement saying an investigation had been
launched and that some people were presumed dead and others missing.
The statement noted
additional federal and local security forces were being sent into the area near
the border between the two Mexican states, but did not provide further details.
Julian LeBaron
described the incident as a “massacre,” saying some family members were burnt
alive. In a text message, he said other injured members of the family were
being transported to Phoenix, Arizona for treatment.
He said four boys, two
girls and three women were killed.
“We don’t know why,
though they had received indirect threats. We don’t know who did it,” he said.
Several children who
fled the attack were lost for hours in the countryside before being found,
Julian LeBaron added.
“My cousin was murdered
with her children in the truck,” Alex LeBaron said, adding he believed nine
people died.
In 2010, two members of
the Chihuahua Mormon community, including one from the LeBaron family, were
killed in apparent revenge after security forces tracked drug gang members. The
Mormons had suffered widespread kidnappings before that.
Mormons of Germanic
origin settled in northern Mexico in the 1920s from the United States. The
group broke away from the mainstream Mormon church when it abandoned polygamous
marriages.
U.S. Ambassador to
Mexico Christopher Landau, who traveled to Sonora earlier on Monday for
unrelated work meetings, said he was following the incident closely.
“The security of our
co-nationals is our great priority,” he said on Twitter.
The U.S. embassy in
Mexico did not immediately respond to a request for more information after
hours.

CDS Plaza. Only a few hours from Agua Prieta, Sonora that is under absolute Sinaloa control.
ReplyDeleteNot true this area is also under heavy influence of La LineA .. as a matter of fact this family have been targets of La Linea in Chihuahua for over a decade .. Eric Lebaron was killed in 2009 for ties with a cocaine trafficking group
Delete@6:50 no bro just stop. It was gente nueva for sure...those shapitos are done for.
DeleteSinaloa cartel hardcore territory period. It was Sinaloa.
Deletei live near nogales, and guarantee that area is sinaloa territory. which ever splinter group did this will pay dearly, guarantee!
DeleteAmlo should be arrested, he came in and stripped funding from many federal protection forces in small communities leaving them at the hands of narcos. This was most likely CJNG since they killed women and kids so cold hearted.
ReplyDeleteWhich cartels are trying to dominate that area? Would not surprise me if it was the baby killer cartel. ALMO has been letting it get out of hand, not much is being done on the 14 policemen, that were killed by CJNG, what are ALMO s 240 special forces doing? Playing poker...
DeleteEl Perin de Tamp
Nope sinaloa killing innocents once again.
DeleteThe problem with your theory is that CDS has the state of Sonora under its umbrella. It's time for people to admit and accept CDS is not some kind of innocent cartel. In fact CDS just opened up another can of worms and someone at the top will pay the price.
DeleteAmlo the problem . The Idiota needs to turn it over to the Army.Or the needs to overthrow Amlo
DeleteThat's the problem with Sinaloa nutthuggers. They will never admit their cartel is as bad or worse than the rest when it comes to killing innocents or children.
Delete6:25 no matter the state, if woman, children or the elderly are killed always blames CJNG. Troll
DeleteMore wood to the fire
ReplyDeleteTold everyone Sinaloa kills innocents including children. They silence anyone that is not in favor of them.
ReplyDeleteCDS special forces Delta trained killed them. Just ask the smartass Sicario 006.
6:25 hey smartass it could off been done by rival groups to bring heat which wouldn't be surprising, linea, cjng, blo, u pick..
Delete7:23. It was not and you fuckin know it.
DeleteI agree
DeleteIt was cds you fool!
DeleteIt's funny how everybody thinks they know who doing it...and it might be the people that you think that less likely did it...cough U.S. cough
DeleteGiven as to how the U.S. government has worked in other countries in the past and given how the DEA and CIA covertly works in Mexico this is begenning to sound that the U.S. could have carried out these attacks so that they can use that as an excuse to send in troops to Mexico.
ReplyDeleteNot out of the world of possibilities.
Say dude you seem to know alot, love your theories... will I live to be 80? I am 40 and don't smoke.
DeleteThat’s my thinking to bringing more problems to CDS ther the ones that are going to get blamed regardless of who really did it the United States has something going on in Mexico and they been making it seem like the cartels are highly elite trained military soldiers ready to invade the United States at any time what a joke the people need to see threw the bullshit and realize that the cartel is the government
Deleteit’s not the 1960’s bro!
Deleteyou are either a borderline retarded or just are that desperate to believe your own bs
Delete7:00 the truth hurts?
DeleteNot out of the question..could be
DeleteBest theory out there
Delete7:04 it is CDS territory. Nobody but the government or they could have done it.
DeleteI would bet Los Salazares
ReplyDeleteOff subject, but moms group searching in puerto penasco find 4 more remains, threatened by armed gunmen to stay out of area
ReplyDeleteOk de paken
DeleteAhhhhh so brown people mass kill white people again. Will we be reading later an article describing this brown on white mass killing as racial motivated Chivis??? Or nah???? Seems mass killing crazies come in all colors and flavors...
ReplyDeleteSalazares gonna blame el h2 of la linea
ReplyDeleteThis family minded thier own business, had no weapons to defend themselves, this cowardly cartel is going to be put on the radar, why they did not put a narcos manta to claim fame on this one.? Bunch of low life hoodlums.
ReplyDeleteSonora is out of control, es mucho para los Chapitos. Salazar vs quinteros plus la línea pushing
ReplyDeleteLa Linea is not invading Sonora or has plans to do this. This is Sinaloa bastion.
DeleteLa Línea has some involvment in Sonora
DeleteLinea has no involvement in Sonora and much less to the extent of having armed men then in masses to committ these crimes or worse.
Delete@2:49 are you for real?
DeleteLa linea has people in Navolato Sinaloa, I wouldn't doubt them making incursions into Sonora which is right next door...
7:05 Carrillos are from Sinaloa that is why they exist in Sinaloa. Nothing to do with Sonora. Linea only wants Chihuahua. Sonora is hardcore CDS territory!
Delete6:33AM - You are clearly a f**king idiot. Your failed state of Meh-he-ko led by your failed socialist leader AMLO - ARE IN POINTED FACT clearly unable to govern. Hello - the U.S. doesn’t need to gin up some excuse to act - just look at the stories posted on this site each and every day...what excuse do they need? The present reality is all the rationale needed given how close these events are to U.S. borders. But don’t worry - we will not be going into Mexico to do shit without Mexico publicly requesting it. This is just a great opportunity for our president to remind everyone how utterly dumb weak ass socialist policies are and how idiotic your stupid ass president is. Here’s a serious question - what the hell were you all thinking electing this clown? Hugs not bullets? LMFAO.
ReplyDeleteIf you think this violence is the result of AMLO's election you are clearly the fool.
DeleteTell me then, why has violence gone up under AMLO? You think his policies are working? See the body count.
DeleteViolence went up because CJNG decided to go on a nationwide rampage of murderous violence
DeleteGente nueva del jaguar posing as linea members trying to taint ncdj name
ReplyDeleteGente nueva del jaguar posing as linea members trying to taint ncdj name
ReplyDeleteDirty bastards!! No matter what cartel!!
ReplyDeleteIt was Sinaloa cartel
DeleteThat family has been in other conflicts with the organized crime. There is videos of them talking about CARTELS
ReplyDeleteThe truth is those mormons are fighting for control BECAUSE THEY ARE A MORMON MAFIA!!
There has been THOUSANDs of families getting killed like this IN M3XICO but IT TAKES A U.S WHITE MORMON FAMILY TO MAKE HEADLINES?? WTF
Nevertheless R.I.P the children don't deserve that
Yeah who gives a fk if they are us us citizens, they know better how dangerous it is down there, everybody gots to get la mordida, it is sad and unfortunate that kids were involved and In my opinion blame the parents for putting them in that situation. El LP
DeleteThey have been at war with them for a while and they grow their own shit too
DeleteNo pos wow,now expect the US to use this as an excuse to enter Mexico... always sad to see kids die specially like this... ironically weapons n ammo used were American as well...
ReplyDeleteThey are only down there cuz polygamy isnt legal in the states.
DeleteUS special forces and military will eliminate them fast, just give them permission. They have the intel to spy and find them. They will be deem as the new American threat, ISIS, Taliban. Terrorism
ReplyDeleteThe Cartel r terrorists, but the U.S.needs to stay out Mexico. Amlo is program will take 5 more years. Give Amlo a chance he for the pobres.
DeleteFuck amlo in five yrs a quarter mil more of your paisas will be dead if not more. If we are not gonna even entertain the idea of legalization. Then lets fight this war like a war our army has more than enough experience they would plow through these fools like a bull in a china shop. Would be nice to see a actuall drought of drugs available in u.s cause anytime theres been a high profile killing or arrest thats "supposed" to cripple cartel. I can still buy any illegal street drug within 10 min of my house. Wtf
Delete5 man kill teams....
DeleteIf anyone of you guys are familiar with any YouTuber's, these are family members of Juan Lebaron, he has a huge following on his AlmostEpic YouTube Channel. He has lots of videos visiting his family in Mexico where all this occurred.
ReplyDeletefirst thing i thought of was that guy, his channel blew up recently but i had no idea he had something to do with it
DeleteHis name is Juan Gonzalez not Juan Lebaron
DeleteCds plaza but let's be real, ALL CARTELS KILL WOMEN AND CHILDREN
ReplyDeleteThe woman killed was no saint THOUGH YOU EVER HEAR OF THE MORMON MAFIA LOCATED IN CHIHUAHUA??
Bro y’all got bodies piling up by the hour, mass graves getting uncovered on the reg and cartels punking the shit out of your lame ass government and weak ass president and you want to talk about the Morman Mafia? LOL gtfoh
ReplyDelete7:57 Lol for real
Delete7:57 True dat!
DeleteThe Mexican Mormon War?
DeleteI got chills reading president trump's twitter post this morning. Action is coming and it's going to be swift and at the hands of the United States. No more fucking around with these animals, nothing seperates them from isis aside from their nationality. Purge them all, for every act such as this, there needs to be a act of 10x greater force on those responsible and their families. No time to wait, no time for mexico to handle their own issues which we all know they cannot.
ReplyDeleteWould the U.S get help from Russia or China to help them with the drug epedimic and get the American capos? NOT
DeleteThe U.S has problems but will never fix them because they are too busy looking at other countries being nosy
Why don't they fix the police shooting problem?
If the U.S goes to Mexico it will make it worse
@7:59...well said my friend.
DeleteThe day America invades mexico is the day Russia and China will becomes Mexico’s best friends.
Delete6:16 China has plans for Mexico, and it doesn't include mexicans.
DeleteIf the Chinese let you live, you will miss America and Americans.
Big mistake by whichever group did this no matter if the mormons are corrupt or not. The only headline I’ve been reading is 9 or 10 US citizens killed by cartels and every major network is running it.
ReplyDeleteShoot out in Agua Prieta few hrs later wonder if it was the caravan of lina driving through on way to Agua Prieta and confused them for cartel... sad day
ReplyDeleteThere was a shoot out in Agua Prieta earlier that morning at 3am, and then the horrible incident with this family later in the day. I was not aware of another shoot out after the family incident.
DeleteThe surviving children said one of the vehicles [they were going to a wedding in chih] broke down. they saw a car coming so one of the mothers got out and waved for help----sadly they asked help of the wrong people.
Deleteclearly their executioners could see the cars were filled with 4 mothers and 11 kids
@8:10 bs linia wouldnt go near agua prieta, the policia are pigs in that area they Would Lie for gente nueva and say the family was mistaken
Delete@8:10 La linea is not fighting or nowhere near Agua Prieta this was all Gente Nueva they probably thought they was dea like that American tourist that was killed in Urique
Delete12:35 years ago,a kidnapped American bodybuilder, who escaped, said the police ARE the cartel.
DeleteI think its time for the United States to step in. MEXICO can not deal with these cartels. Corruption and lack of law enforcement is making Mexico look weak and a government with no balls. When you murder innocent people including kids that is just plain evil.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you 💯 percent, but check out the latest article by BB staff, ALMO does not want help from USA, that he can deal with the cases, flat out lier, so many Innocents have died.
DeleteLuna Apagtha
USA has stepped in many times, Chapo guzman, Beltral leyva, Golfos,Fast & Furious,.. if we're talking about direct military action then we're talking about a delicate situation it's not like flying a drone over a desert like Afghanistan through an isolated area & then shooting off a missle. we're talking about populated areas & deep infiltration by the DTO's. one bullet lands in the wrong place & it can turn into a shitstorm real quick
DeleteIf you think innocent people are dying now wait until the U.S.A gets involved. We talk about baby killer cartels but the U.S reigns supreme when it comes to killing innocent women, men and children. Don't believe me, ask Snowden, Bradley Manning, Assange and all of those in the middle east who have been victims of U.S intervention.... it's easy for all of you to beat the war drums when it's not your immediate families lives at stake, when the drones aren't dropping the bombs in your backyards.
DeleteAnywhere USA intervenes around the world things get 100 times worse . People have no memory.
DeleteThe UN needs to be involved. US presence would more than likely be reconnaissance drones, intel, special forces, and infantry checkpoints. It is very unlikely it would be tanks rolling out and boots on the ground, THAT part is Mexico’s job.
DeleteTo dismiss help outright is only benefiting DTO’s and those taking their bribes.
5:26 p.m., In an ideal world, the U.N. would have already been involved, but it seems like the U.N. fails spectacularly at the reason for their existence.
DeleteThere are conflicts around the world that have been completely ignored or dismissed by a U.N. that has been infiltrated by some of the world's worst human rights violators.
I agree with you when you say that Mexico's best interest would be to ask the U.S. and other nations for help. Unfortunately, I don't believe that Mexico would ever put aside national pride long enough to ask.
sigan calentando el estado pendejos se les van a cargar ambos gobiernos
ReplyDeleteIt's the Sinaloa Cartel, Amlo has giving them control
ReplyDeleteVery sad for the families. Pray for them
ReplyDeleteWhy? Praying just makes the people doing it feel better for doing nothing. It’s time to stop praying and start doing. Serious discussion needs to happen, openly and widely.
DeleteThis was gente nueva for sure...chapo is done for now that the US is going to be involved. Got fam in buenaventura and everyone knows it was faggot ass shapitos that did it...now theyre going to pay and wiped out.
ReplyDeleteShut up stop making bs up you people are dumb you think they would be heating things up like that they have bigger things tp worry about
Delete@1:09 and why Would linea/blo heat things up too? This place is close to el charco where el tintin commands its pretty obvious some fracción fron Sinaloa did this
DeleteGente nueva del jaguar
ReplyDeleteSo where is Sicario 006 in this shit? He sure has alot to say when his cartel is favored in the news.
ReplyDeleteJust the kinda headline the US has been waiting for ...it's a wrap for the cartel's now...how stupid can these sicarios be...its tight on all cartels now.
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed no cartel has claimed responsibility. Have our noticed no manta. They are in hiding in the caves, like the other cowardly cartels. You can't hide this one under the rug
DeleteExactly why I dont think the Cartels were responsible for this .
DeleteWe’ll see, unfortunately I don’t think this will change anything
DeleteSeeing all of this on the nightly news - the grandfather of the children crying etc. is devestating. I truly cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like for the citizens of Mexico who deal with this 1,000,000x over. Truly my heart breaks for the citizens of Mexico that have endured pain and suffering I pray I never have to know. No human life deserves to be snuffed out by such violence.
ReplyDeleteenough, U.S must declare War, millions have died and suffer on both sides without action.
ReplyDeleteTo all you mensos that right away jump in to say it was CDS smh ...they arrested the suspect member of la linea..que tanto les arde a ustedes de Sinaloa? I just don’t get all the hate to that particular group
ReplyDelete
