Juan Antonio Esquipulas García Cifuentes, alias "El Grande", and Ricardo Jesús Amezcua Bernal, alias "El Güero", who were leaders of a cell of La Familia Michoacana that operated in the Toluca Valley, were sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murder of a man in August 2020.
According to the investigation folder, on August 24 last year a man left his home located in the Colinas del Sol district, in Almoloya de Juárez, and went to Nevado de Toluca Street, where the condemned were waiting.
According to the inquiries, Juan Antonio was on a motorcycle with a firearm with which he attacked the victim, while his accomplice Ricardo Jesús was carrying out surveillance work; later, both fled.
They identify those responsible
After the murder, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico began investigations that led to the identification of "El Güero" and "El Grande" as those responsible, for which they were arrested and admitted to the Penitentiary and Social Reinsertion Center of Santiaguito.
After analyzing the evidence, a judge decided to link them to the process and, eventually, sentenced them to 55 years in prison for the crime of homicide, they will also have to pay fines of 247,608 pesos and 269,851 as reparation for the damage.
They headed a cell
The investigations carried out by the FGJEM established that "El Güero" was the head of a cell of the Familia Michoacána that operated in the municipalities of Toluca, Almoloya de Juárez, Zinacantepec and Metepec, while "El Grande" was second in command, he’s currently under investigation for several more murders that occurred in the region.
