"HEARST" for Borderland Beat
Yeishi Moriya Villaseñor, the daughter of a mayor from the state Michoacán, was caught trying to smuggle firearms and large amounts of US cash into Mexico
Detention at the Border
On Monday, August 22, 2022, a woman, named Yeishi Moriya Villaseñor, tried crossing an Juarez-Lincoln international bridge from Laredo, Texas into Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
Moriya Villaseñor is the 28-year old daughter of Artemio Moriya Sánchez, the mayor of Tacámbaro, Michoacán, a town located south of the city of Morelia. She works at a company called El Surco, an agricultural store which sells things like fertilizer, in Tacámbaro.
During routine outbound questioning by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents, Moriya Villaseñor gave conflicting answers to questions about her time spent traveling in the US so she was sent to secondary inspection. When a CBP officer patted her down, they found three hidden bundles of US cash at her waistband.
Moriya Villaseñor allegedly claimed she did not declare the hidden cash at customs because she did not want to pay the taxes for it. This seemingly routine border detention changed, however, when agents x-rayed her vehicle, a 2022 Volkswagen Passat. The agents found discrepancies in both her driver’s side and passenger side rear doors.
CBP agents further inspected the doors and found hidden compartments which housed two firearms and large stacks of cash. The two firearms were a 9mm Glock and a Colt 1911.
When bringing an amount of cash over $10,000 USD out of the country, a person is required to declare it as part of customs. The cash found on her waistband and the cash found in the vehicle totaled up to $248,531 USD or 4,955,760 pesos.
The cash and guns were seized, Moriya Villaseñor was arrested on charges of money laundering and she was sent to Webb County Jail where she remains as of the writing of this story.
Her Version of Events
She stated she had the cash and guns in her possession due to the following events, as written by César Rodriguez for the Laredo Morning Times:
On August 13, a male approached her at her business, handed her a phone and told her that Maluma wanted to talk to her. She stated that Maluma is also known as Eduardo in her hometown of Tacámbaro, Michoacan. Villaseñor stated she had known Eduardo as an acquaintance for two years but had not heard from him, according to court documents.
Eduardo asked her if she would be traveling to Dallas soon. She told him she was going to make a trip to Dallas this coming week. Eduardo told her to contact him once she was in Dallas so she could transport some money to Tacámbaro, Michoacan.
On August 18, Villaseñor was traveling to Dallas with her boyfriend and two children when she received a WhatsApp message with an address in Dallas. She was told to report to that location where she was greeted by Eduardo and three other males. She was told to go get something to eat and leave her vehicle behind.
When she returned, Eduardo told her that her car was ready and gave her $3,000 for transporting the money. An additional $3,000 was given to her for another person in Tacámbaro, Michoacan.
Then came the fateful border crossing on August 22. Mayor Artemio Moriya Sánchez has not yet issued a statement on her arrest.
Smuggling that much cash into Mexico may have an organized crime aspect to the motive. Tacámbaro is located in a region of Michoacan which is currently considered to be Pueblos Unidos territory, who are part of the larger Carteles Unidos alliance which fights against the Cartel Jalsico Nueva Generación (CJNG).
For more information on who Pueblos Unidos are and who they are fighting against in the CJNG, please see the overview in this previous story. For more information on all the groups operating in Michoacan, please see:

She doesn't look so hot in her jail uniform. She won't be seeing her kids for a couple of years and can forget about travelling to the U.S. legally for some time. I hope they picked up the boyfriend for questioning as well.
ReplyDelete6:27 very few people look ok in their mug shot, the idea is to make you look dirty, shit when i got mine i looked like a fucking crack head 🤣🤣🤣 may i say ive never done any drugs just weed and drink, of curse i got a DUI if your wondering

Delete10:17 the stronger shit would beat your beer...
Deleteyour ass would be real ruffled, but happier than ever.
12:02 i dont know Sir but for some strange reason im sure you are speaking from experience
DeleteAre there any government or relatives of government and police army etc who are not involved with the cartels. It seems its only the poor who are not and as soon as anyone gets a chance to make money from the cartels they grab it including autodefensas. Something has to change in Mexico but you cant lock up half the country for being complicit in this and by extension with cartel violence. Guess which cartel her dad works for
ReplyDeleteTold you curupt officials officials are in cullusion with the cartels. Most will go into the dark side because they don't want Plata o plomo.
DeleteCorrupt officials colude with the cartels in Mexico? Wow! I never knew that. Thanks for letting everyone know!
Delete12:30 and that involves border patrols...
DeleteThose ladies from Michoacan area very beautiful . Just like el Señor Mencho's daughter and his wife. (Con muchisimo respeto!! )
ReplyDeleteEl Commandante JR save muy bien de lo que esta hablando, aparte al natural es mucho mejor! Pura Gente Del Señor Rambo!!!!!!!
DeleteMencho actually has two daughters that we know about, Laisha and Jessica. And he may have more that we just haven't heard about yet.
DeleteAre they both his daughters or step kids cause she had a son from someone else and is said in aguililla she had daughter from someone else when he was in jail possibility of chisme maybe but if u get DOB and when he was in jail is more of a math problem
DeleteDatzz true wat happen to da daughter Dat got busted in va
DeleteScrub away all the fake to reveal the fugly.
ReplyDeleteBut but but Lopez Obrador says it's the manufacturers fault. That guns, ammo make it to Mexico. Oh its not the smugglers that bring them down to Mexico. Old rancho primitive thinking.
ReplyDeleteAnd you think US citizens don do the same on regular basis?, most of detention on international borders with mexico are US citizens, so your point is?
DeleteForeign nationals forget that entering the U.S. is a privilege and not a right that is revocable at any time. Thirty years ago, criminals could stay in the U.S. if their crime wasn't too severe or return after spending some years outside of the U.S. But those days are coming to an end.
ReplyDeleteThese are just moronic individuals who don't realize that they've just lost something great until its gone. Typical conceited kids of worthless politicians.
Delete7:05 That's a new one to me, shows you how much time I haven't been to Mexico. Since when did they have US Border patrol checking cars, headed into Mexico???
Delete7:39 since 2007 +/-, but not every time. Mostly on a regular basis. It should be permanent.
Delete7:39 since they realized there was money there, worth a lot more than drugs coming in...
Delete7:39:
DeleteThey've been checking cars going into Mexico for more than 30 years. I used to cross 6 times per week and got stopped about once or twice per year. If you crossed then it's unlikely you would have been stopped if you only crossed the border five or ten times per year.
About twenty years ago they started to pick up the pace and some of these inspections would last all day days on end.
These operations used to be really sporadic and you would go months without being stopped and then stopped three days in a row.
Now they are more routine and depend on the border station.
She don't look hot anyway .... Makeup does wonders .... Usually the ones wearing alot of makeup it's because they r trying to cover their ugly mugs
ReplyDeleteSTRAIGHT UP!!
DeleteWhen women wear too much make up they really look beat up under it.
It’s the women who wear very little the ones that look good because they don’t really need it. Tattoos make women look nasty too some tecato whore shit!
Women with too much makeup look like trannies or on some payaso shit!
Delete919 This. When I go out looking for women to date, I look for ones with little to no make up and no tattoos. A lot of females, after removing their makeup look horrible. And yes, I also think tattoos makes a woman look like a ‘woman of the streets.’
DeletePinchis batos horrorosos, ya pedos cualquier güey se les have bien guapo, y ámonos pa la casa...
DeleteEl pedo es andar ahi de calientes
I don’t get down like that SIR! I have standards you try to be funny and sometimes you are but the truth is nobody here likes you mejor shut the fuck up!
Delete11:34 nomas porque te gusta que te claven bocarriba no te hace mejor que nadie!!
DeleteLet the ladies l give their seal of approval they know who is good and who is a fakeo (mentiroso y feo)
They been hitting everybody left and right but leaving Jalisco out the picture 😏
ReplyDeleteI bet they targeted her for inspection cause she was from Mexico.
ReplyDeleteNope she was targeted because she is Russian.
DeleteAlguien les dio pitazo
DeleteYes, she was targeted because she was from Mexico, not because she contradicted herself at immigration and her car could not pass x-ray inspection. GMAB
DeleteAnd she had a fake Ukrainian passport.
DeleteThose check points are installed randomly, and commonly with no scanners or x rays, mostly agents doing questions and inspections, not even with dogs. Mostly sounds like they got a hint from somewhere.
Delete12:54:
DeleteThe X-ray threw me off too. I am thinking that they turned her around and sent her to inbound secondary because they don't have an outbound secondary inspection area. It's mostly a couple of questions involving currency over $10,000 and guns and that's it. In El Paso they usually only stop about one in ten cars and they usually only last for a few hours.
If they had a halcon at the bridge she could have just crossed another bridge.
@Detroit for someone that just learned how to comment and contribute to the comment section, you have a lot of insight. I suggest you begin writing for BB too!! I feel like you mentioned somewhere that you’re retired? Or older? Or something like that
Delete12:49 Sir is the best writer, I enjoy his comments immensely, He should be a reporter and not Detroit and his long ass comments, atentamente "anonymous"...sorry I can't delete the SIR word and post anonymous credibly, atte SIR.
DeleteSir:
DeleteYou are the best whether we understand your comments or not. It is always interesting to get an insight from Mars. You are truly from another world.
Saludos Tacambaro, Nocupetaro, y tambien Caracuaro. Arriba Michoacán!
ReplyDeletePrimo primo primooooo!!! Arriva michoacan vali!!!! Y sus cerros verdes
DeleteSo basically she already ratted on Maluma (not the pop singer of course)
ReplyDeleteYes she did yippee 🤣🤣
Delete10:11:
DeleteYes, that's the norm. About 75% of all defendants who aren't gang members spill the beans right after their arrest. Gang members are more difficult and savvy to the system but do sometimes give up their compadres without any incentives. The younger gang members have a tendency to be difficult to crack. Older gang members often start to cooperate when you start throwing big numbers at them.
Delete1028 Is the sinarata troll. This dude makes bs statements and uses name like ‘Madera Chihuahua,’ ‘El de los Dos Laredos.’ Don’t let it fool you.
Delete1:35 floods don't stop desertification,
Deletedesertification helps floods... that why the wisest of the wise asses grab all the permits for deep water wells, who is that in chihuahua state?
I am sure it is not Chihuahua Yaquis or Apaches.
Sir:
DeleteI don't think the LeBarons have permits. That's why they are fighting with their neighboring communities.
3:20 Thats correct, they had been sued in the past for illegal water wells, that requires permits.
DeleteDiputado PRIISTA ALEX LEBARON worked with CONAGUA and stole for his family a few more water concessions...
DeleteI don't deny hard work and knowledge of agriculture and work methods have made the mormons a fortune, along with their family work practices, but that gives them no right to threaten Mexico with secession or to request intervention or anybody else or cartels the right to abuse them, but truth is truth
Who is eduardo?
ReplyDeleteHe is my father 😁
Delete10:42 who are your other 5 fathers?
DeleteMan, you were made from HUACHICOL
It’s easy she can just sign away forfeit the money and take a weapons charge. Slap on the wrist
ReplyDeleteI don't understand. The article says she was stopped for "routine outbound questioning by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents." This was when she was about to drive her car over the main bridge from Laredo to Nuevo Laredo. I've crossed that bridge into Mexico many times over the past 30 years (sometimes with U.S. plates, sometimes with Mex plates), and I've never been stopped for "routine questioning" on the U.S. side. The only stop there is to pay the bridge toll, with no questions asked. (On the other hand, I've been stopped and occasionally searched by Mexican Customs on the Mexican side.) So there must be some reason other than "routine questioning" to explain why this woman was stopped.
ReplyDeleteThey don't stop you, because you got a beat up car, that you never wash, dents all over, the back bumper almost falling off.
DeleteSame here, crossing for years. They can stop good looking women, or for any other reason. They probably had info related to her.
DeleteI got something that she could smuggle. What an idiot! I'm sure she's set for life from her father plundering and extorting his constituents. Why cross contraband? Probably wants to feel gangster.
ReplyDeleteProbably a bum ass boyfriend
DeleteAmazing what a little makeup can do for an unattractive young woman.
ReplyDeleteMichoacán has a lot of counties. Municipios as you say in Mexico.
ReplyDelete10:34 true, but not many of them have mayor's daughters arrested for trying contraband dirty dollar bills into MX.
