Gunmen killed nine people in nearly simultaneous attacks at two houses on Sunday night in a neighborhood near the Juárez airport, the Chihuahua state attorney general's office said today.
Mexican police said on Saturday that the men entered through the back of the house, surprising the guests.
Authorities identified those killed in the home as Juan Carlos Chico, 33, Jose Luis Gonzalez Frias, 40, Teresa Chico Mendez, 51, Macaria Chico, 60, and Ana Chico Mendez, 53. Josefina Chico, 43, and Juan Carlos Chico Mendez, 29, died at a hospital.
Minutes after the first attack, gunshots were reported in the same neighborhood at a house in the 7400 block of Zaire. Officials said Juan Jose Martinez Morales, 36, and Rodolfo Franco Fierro, 30, were killed and a 23-year-old man was wounded.

In another incident an unidentified man of approximately 30 years old was executed right next to some public restrooms in a gas station and convenience store located at Paseo de la Victoria and Ejercito Nacional.
The man was shot with a 9mm type firearm several times in the head as he was exiting the restrooms. The unknown offenders fled the scene and authorities were unable to locate any witnesses willing to provide any relevant information for fear of reprisals. The crime occurred in an area known as "zona dorada" and is well guarded by police and military for being so close to the US consulate, but authorities within at ear shot of the gunfire failed to respond to the location of the incident.

Three people were executed Moonday afternoon in a mechanic shop "malibu" located in the streets Piña and Sorgo in the community of El Granjero. The victims have not been identified but neighbors of the business said the victims apear to be the owners. Authorities were unable to locat any actual witnesses to the crime, other than hearing the gun shots during the attack.
Ciudad Juarez, which borders the US city of El Paso, in Texas, is a battleground for drug cartels vying for shipping routes into the US. More than 6,800 people have been killed in there since early 2008.
