The embattled border city of Ciudad Juarez had its bloodiest year ever with 3,111 people killed in drug violence, an official said Saturday.
The city across from El Paso, Texas, has seen its homicide rate soar to one of the highest in the world since vicious turf battles broke out between gangs representing the Juarez and Sinaloa cartels in 2008.
That year, 1,587 people were killed in drug violence, and the toll increased to 2,643 in 2009.
Ciudad Juarez's bloodiest month last year was October, when 359 people were killed, said Arturo Sandoval, a spokesman for prosecutors in Chihuahua state, where the city is located.
Sandoval did not give statistics on murders unrelated to the drug war.
More than 30,000 people have been killed in drug violence nationwide since President Felipe Calderon launched an offensive against the cartels after taking office in December 2006.
In the southern state of Guerrero, four members of a family were killed Saturday when gunmen opened fire at a New Year's celebration in the town of Piedra Iman.
State investigators said the four men, ages 80, 60, 32 and 17, were slain at a party on a basketball court.

Mexico should bring back the death penalty. Trails should be fair and quick and all executions should be gruesome and public- maybe then these punk assholes who are terrorizing Mexico will see what will happen to them they will have a change of heart.
ReplyDeleteThat might not be civil, but nor is Mexico today!
DFL
i agree with DFL ^
ReplyDeleteI think USA should have the same type of death penalty, so many pedophiles and sick people in the world. saudia arabia doesnt take any shit, u could leave ur purse at a store and come back a week later and it would still be there in that country. WHy? cuz they will cut ur fuckin hand off for stealing. I am not saying we should act that extreme or act irrational.
I am a retired special forces in the USMC. Me and a couple of my pals would love to go down to sinaloa/juarez with our m4's, blackhawk helicopters, and m60's. the uSA has more than enough firepower to crush iran, north korea, and liberate and fix countries such as mexico & latin america. take the troops out of the middle east and burn the fuckin rainforest and rid it of its cocaine. (i dont mean literally burn down our beautiful rainforest, they need to grow hemp instead of cutting down our precious oxygen)
legalzie marijuana! enough said!
make distribution/sales of methamphetmaines life imprisonment like canada is doing. FUCK THE GOVERNMENTS!
HOWEVER IT WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. Neither can mexico win with THE CAULDERON ADMIN.
I am opptomistic about the future, i think technology is our greatest asset, and if we have enough cameras, and more so, enough common sense we could vote back in proper gun laws, so mexico could be packing. no fucking way would i let a sicario even get to my doorstep.

I DO AGREE WITH SOME OF WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY BUT NOT ALL.

ReplyDeleteThe U.S. Marine Corps does not have "Special Forces" neither does it have blackhalks, or m-4s and M-60 Machine guns...you are confusing the Army with the Marine Corps...although the army doesnt have the M-60 Machine gun either as it is long gone Vietnam weapons system.
The people of Mexico need to solve their own problems. They need to take up arms and fight back...they can not continue to be sheep being lead to the slaughter. Their police forces and military are not the answer...they are either too weak or in many cases they are the problem. I promise you this, if one hurts a member of my family, I will hunt you down and kill you like a dog...if all the fathers of Femicides in Cludad Juarez, Mexico would do this, there wouldnt be a problem with assholes killing women.
Something needs to be done in this country to stop these people! My father was one of the innocent men that got killed on new years day at La piedra iman along with my grandfather uncle and cousins and all I got to say is that we are an innocent victim family! The pain that these men caused us after this tragedy is inmmense! Please let's stop this!
ReplyDeleteokay u dumb fuck the USMC does have special forces they have recon and also mar soc marines
