US Attache's Murderer Captured

The National Defense Secretariat identified Julian Zapata Espinosa, alias "El Piolin", the alleged leader of a cell of gunmen "sicarios" belonging to Los Zetas in San Luis Potosi, as the main suspect in the murder of U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata.

Military spokeman Ricardo Trevilla, "SEDENA or Secretaria de la Defensa Nacional" in a statement said that along with the alleged murderer, they had also arrested several other Zetas.

The military spokeman explained that the military operation had centered around four buildings in San Luis Potosi. Julian Zapata Espinosa "El Piolin," was arrested in one.

He explained that the successful capture came as a result of a coordinated Army intelligence operation. In it they were able to locate and arrest Zapata Espinosa, who identified himself as Luis González Villarreal, and five more of the Zetas.

The detainees are Armando Álvarez Saldaña, Mario Dominguez or Domingo Díaz, Jesus Iván Peña Quesada, Martin Barcenas Tapia, and Rubén Darío Venegas, of Honduran nationality.

In addition, they arrested three women and a minor. They secured several weapons, five vehicles, 41 munitions reloaders, communication's equipment and various documents, including payroll information for several cartel members, said the spokesman.

  1. I wonder how much torture this rat can take from sedena? I hope he gives up as many zeta cells as he knows of.

  2. El Piolin says the killing was a "mistake"

A suspect in the killing of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent told soldiers Wednesday the attack was carried out by a group of Zetas drug gang gunmen who mistook the agent's SUV for a vehicle used by a rival gang, the army said.

  4. That guy looks like he fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Now I hope they do not relent. Interrogate him using whatever creative means are necessary. Go after his boss and his boss's boss and so on and so forth. Keep up the momentum and aggressively pursue Zeta leadership and make that organization a thing of the past. A dark anomaly in the history of Mexican DTO's. All cartels are greedy and evil, but they will always exist in one form or another. Use this agents murder as a means of justifying a relentless and concentrated attack on one of the most depraved of cartels, so that his name will always be remembered as a force of good that brought about the annihilation of something extremely evil and detrimental to Mexican society and American security. I hope to God the authorities are not satisfied with the detention of some cell of half-wit sicarios. Ultimate culpability lies further up the chain of command.

  6. Wasn't no mistake. There was audio released yesterday where the surviving agent was calling for help saying they had killed his partner. Then he was identifying himself and you could hear the gunmen in the background saying they didn't give a fuck he was going to die regardless.

So you noticed, Anonymous? Amazing to me how the original US written reports that mentioned how the suspects appeared to have beaten to the point where it was difficult for them all to stand up during the photo session has been disappeared now. Why is that? Is it now acceptable in the US press, as it has always been in Mexico, to present beat up by the police SUSPECTS not yet proven guilty in a trial?

Good question to ask of Obama since he has been thanking the Mexican government for their work.

  8. I cannot find ANY information on this so called leader of SLP. WHo is this guy? Has anyone any info? I can't find anything other than today's stuff. I honestly never heard of the guy, which doesn't mean anything, but I really wonder about all this...I am thinking PERHAPS a fall guy. A couple of them sure were beat up, not that I care.

So lets start thinking...hmmm how about EXTRADITION? Anyone think the US will ask for them? How about the death penalty? I know I am ahead of myself here but if they ask for it then there is at least a 40 day wait.

  9. You're welcome! The reporters have a tough time either they can post immediately to get the news to us ASAP...or wait and post a more detailed story but a bit late. Its a tough call I would imagine.

Did you notice how some of the suspects are walking just fine with no signs of being beaten? Mexican soliders don't take shit from anyone and I can assure you that the ones who were beaten mouthed off. I don't care if soliders beat the crap out of zetas scum, zetas do much worse things to innocent civilians.

Why are you so eager to find out the whole life story of this guy? Its like your stalking his whole life story? Calm down and get off his nuts. Like Overmex said he was arrested in 09 but a judge put him out on bail and he never returned to face court so anyways there was an order to recapture him. Food for thought; Mexico does not extradite people who face death penalty just to let you know.

  16. I bet if you trace Agent Jaime Zapata´s family tree back to Mexico, He will have some relation to the scumbag zeta Julian Zapata that murdered him. Unbeknown to either individuals of course.

If I have to draw you a picture of why I am trying to discover more of this guy then you know nothing of how Mx works. Or as many, choose to turn a blind eye. This guy is a no one. Ovemex and myself could not find any background on him. His big detainment? was for having 4 military uniforms and guns..the fact that you can say he was on bail and never returned shows how naive you are. They sure knew how to get him fast when they wanted him...right? If you are able then I challenge you to put the pieces together. BTW...many are trying to find out the background of this guy and no one has come up with anything. this so called leader in SLP.

I would connect the dots for you, but you are so out there uninformed why waste the time..

Mx military/police are so corrupt and abusive that they are capable of anything.

  18. BTW...I absolutely know Mx does not extradict unless death penalty is off the table. Who doesn't that is in Mx or has an interest in Mx? However:

lawmakers are hoping that with this brazen attack on a U.S. federal agent — the first since 1985 in Mexico — the country’s government will reconsider their plea for agents to pack heat, and that they will make an exception to extradite the attackers to the U.S. despite the possibility of capital punishment

One of the things we try to do, is post breaking news immediately (as what Doctor Tomas did), we then usually follow up with more information as it becomes available. The objective, is to keep you informed of important news as it happens or as it starts to hit the news.

  20. @DEATH SENTENCE

i rather not kill them just bury them alive in a 6x8 cell for the next 40 years so they can really feel it

just think even low level zeta's live pretty nice as far as never worry about anything and just do what they want when they want. but now they got him in a cell.

i lived in a cell for 8 years and 4 months its no fun believe me

  21. Anonymous 10:45, don't forget that a long standard of Mexican corruption has been the police and military practice of beating the crap out of and torturing often innocent people BEFORE any legal process as to whether they are in fact guilty. Then these bashed PRISONERS are presented to the press for view.

The common people are encouraged by the government supporting press to decide guilt simply as ...if the police beat them up obvious to the eye, then they are guilty automatically. And this is how dictatorship Mexico substitutes for not having any real democratic process of a legal system.

    @ Buela...
'If I have to draw you a picture of why I am trying to discover more of this guy then you know nothing of how Mx works. Or as many, choose to turn a blind eye.'

They simply are turning a blind eye, Buela. Many simply don't care whether the captured actually did the crime or not???? That somebody is taking the fall is all they care about.

"They sure knew how to get him fast when they wanted him...right?"

He is a fall guy. The bosses were not going to take heat for his stupid mistakes. Very simple if you think. If you go back and read Smurf's post you would know El-40 and El Lazca give up their guys when they don't want to take the heat or get rid of someone, considering he was the leader in SLP they pointed the finger at him. So much for a challenge; I put the pieces together. And Mexico will not extradite him or let agents carry guns; keep dreaming.

  23. So, do you think someone as high up as El Mamito ordered the hit or was it just some trigger happy Z's f***ed up on their own shit?

Surely they could see the license plates. You'd think they would know their chain of command would be pissed for bringing down the heat--if they made a snap judgement on their own.

Will Mexican police keep looking or will it stop here? Maybe someone undercover with the Gulf Cartel will find out more...
