Cartel Kills Local Man, Looks for Money

Woman said warlock led her to victim's yard

Albuquerque, NM - It's a bizarre story that may not be over. The murdered Albuquerque man lost a lot of money that belonged to the cartel. Now police have arrested someone who showed up at the victim's home looking for that money.

The story takes a lot of twists and turns, and is a scary reminder of Mexican drug cartels' reach in our city.

Juan Tovar is dead and his family terrified his killers will come after them.

It all started about two weeks ago. Tovar's wife told police she went to Arizona to meet up with him. Instead she said they were kidnapped by Ebelyn Saenz (left) and two men; she managed to get away, and make it back to Albuquerque.

Two days later, after trying to reach her husband several times without any luck, she said she got text messages from him saying he was sorry and telling his family that he loved them. The next morning she learned he had been murdered in Mexico by a drug cartel.

Tovar's wife soon discovered that her husband had been working for a drug cartel and had been trusted with half a million dollars. Money he told the cartel had been confiscated by police in Georgia. The cartel didn't buy the story.

Since Saenz had hired Tovar she went looking for the missing cash. She told police she showed up at the Tovar home in Albuquerque on Tuesday because her bruja, or Spanish warlock, told her the half million dollars was buried in the backyard.

Terrified, Tovar’s family called police, and Saenz was arrested for extortion. Investigators said she told the Tovar family that if they didn't turn over the money they would be murdered by the cartel.

Tovar's family didn't want to speak on camera but they insist they know nothing about the money and are sure nothing is hidden in their backyard.

Saenz was already on probation after she was caught trying to smuggle drugs across the border. Investigators are in the process of revoking her probation after this latest arrest.

  2. of course the cartel did not buy it, half a mil confiscated and he is just living life like nothing happened, not in jail or in witness protection, guess half a mil in greenbacks will make you do some stupid shit. I know if I lost or even decided to take the money, I would have been long gone. The story behind La Bruja (Witch) is pretty creepy.

  3. More the reason to either take border security seriously or if our government continues to let Mexicans easily cross into the USA, they ought to document them and give them temp worker status so at least we can keep track. Unfortunately neither will happen. One might say, who cares, it's Mexicans killing each other. I disagree...The more crime taking place screws up our statistics on crime and costs the tax payer enormous amounts of money....Our government better wake up to the war brewing just below our border.

People had better wake up because its already across the border... People have no idea the nightmare that has slowly been creeping up on them! Even if they attempt to do something about it right now there is going to be hell to pay and many, many Americans are going to pay a high price... All America needs to do is build a huge 3 layer electric fence with enough current in the center layer that if you touch it then it kills you... That will put an end to illegal crossings, then we need to weed out the mess that is already here... Each minute that goes by is wasted time... Why havent they ever built and fortified fence on the border? The solution is so simple and yet they make it sound as if it is an impossibility... Better wake up America... Just wait, if they dont do like I say and build this fence there is going to be killings and mutilations and bodies dumped in the streets just as there has been in Mexico... Its already happening...

  5. We should have done it like the Russians. Put mines all along the river but of course Ernie the Wormy would have a cow.

  6. People think it can't happen here... Even I have a hard time imagining the US spiraling down in violence, but it's possible. Remember the gang violence in the 90s? We're never far from that turning back up in full force and escalating rather than retreating like it did last time around.

We obviously have no lack of crazy people here who are oblivious to death and imprisonment despite our high quality law enforcement.

It's a slippery slope that begins with a few crooked officers on the inner city beat and progresses upwards from there.

You both really that stupid? "3 layer electric fence" and "Put mines" tell me what is that going to do? Nothing!!

Cartels use tunnels, trailers, submarines, and most of the drugs come in through the ports of entry..why do you mix illegal immigration with drug cartels...two different things. Low level cartels use mules to transport drugs across the desert while the tops guys transport it by the tons through the ports of entry!! And another thing, cartels have been here since the 70s..all these time to wake up BS just makes me laugh hahahaha. Always have been here always will be here unless we get rid of our drug addicts!!!

  8. I understand on the inconsistencies of the article when talking about "bruja." I just did not want to change words since it's not my article, although I had to change some very obvious problems, not many in Albuquerque have a sense of the Mexican culture, yet the Mexican drug cartel.

  9. I love the fake innocence of the guys wife. She just "found out" he was working for the cartels? Bullshit!!

She is either lying, as stupid as a rock for not knowing what her husband was doing, or both!

  13. I have been together with my husband for the past 5 years with a son only for my husband to tell me that he was no longer interested in our married, saying that he want a divorce all because he had found another woman. when i heard this i was so sad beyond measure, that i pleaded with him with every thing i had but he refused.
I had to seek for help because i loved my husband too much to let him go, i met someone on line who directed me to spell caster who helped her before. she asked me to contact the spell caster, of which i did.The spell caster told me to stop sharing tears that everything will be all right that i will have my husband back in 3 days, she asked me to do all that she asked me to and i did them, i want the world to know that am a not a fan of mystical powers, put i had no choice.
On the 2day i got a call from my husband asking for forgiveness from me and wanting to come back to me, when i had this i was so happy and overwhelmed that i have vowed to publish the work of the great spell caster, she is indeed genuine. You can contact her on (ANNASHELLY42@GMAIL.COM) for help on any problem you may be facing in life, be it on relationships, illness, pregnancy, court cases.
