U.S. Border Patrol agents and Nogales police discovered a tunnel used for trafficking drugs from neighboring Mexico during an operation in which they also seized more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana and arrested two suspects.
Officers inspected one of the drainage tunnels that run under the border city of Nogales after hearing voices coming from it on Thursday.
Nabbed in the operation were two men who tried to get back across the border to Mexico, and at the scene they found 43 packs of marijuana weighing about 1,068 pounds and with a street value estimated at $480,000.
The Border Patrol said in a communique that during the investigation, agents found that connected with the drainage system is a man-made tunnel whose entrance measures 18x24 inches and which runs to Nogales in the northern Mexican state of Sonora, though its full length has not been determined.
Nothing new, as long as the demand is high in the US, the cartels will spend millions of dollars on just finding a way on supplying the goods... they have nothing to loose....
