CNNMexican federal police announced Wednesday the arrests of two suspects in the killing of the son of one of the most vocal critics of President Felipe Calderon's battle against drug cartels.
Julio de Jesus Radilla Hernandez, alias "El Negro," a leader of the South Pacific Cartel, and Jose Luis Luquin, alias "El Jabon," are accused in the killings of Juan Francisco Sicilia, the son of poet and activist Javier Sicilia, and six others, said Leticia Galvan, spokeswoman for Mexico's public security ministry.
The pair was captured in the state of Veracruz, she told CNN.
More than 65,000 people this month participated in a march led by the well-known poet from the central city of Cuernavaca to Mexico City's main square.
Sicilia has become one of the most outspoken opponents of Mexico's drug war since his son's slaying in March. He has led several demonstrations and vocally criticized officials' handling of the case.
Sicilia's 24-year-old son was found dead March 28, crammed into a car with six other bodies in Cuernavaca, officials said. Masking tape covered their heads and was also wrapped around their wrists and ankles.
Authorities believe all seven victims suffocated, and they have said members of Mexico's Pacifico Sur cartel are responsible.
According to the ministry of public security, police found a fingerprint on the car, which they matched on a database to Luquin. Luquin belongs to the Pacifico Sur cartel and reported directly to Radilla, the agency said.
Radilla was responsible for planning the kidnappings and killings, the agency said.

ReplyDeleteaccording to the regional Chief of Federal police,Luis Cardenas Palomino, the arrest was violent..El Negro first attempted to shoot the police, then tried to shoot himself before being disarmed and arrested.

I have no doubt the authorites wind up tuning these dudes up, at the time they are taken into custody thats the main reason why they sing like birds, when interrogated. I can't say I blame the arresting authorities, after seeing some of their comrades butchered and murdered you know pay back is coming. Just like everytime the military engages in shootouts with various drug cartel lackeys the pics of the aftermath (dead cartel members) appeared to be staged! Every pic I've seen on here..the dead gunmen are always shown grasping an assault rifle in one hand...its very unatural looking..lol. I'd don't have a problem with it just looks so obvious the pictures are staged!

I remember reading some time back I had read that a man name "el negro" was the primary bodygaurd for la barbie and resbonsible for driving him around and opening doors.
