During Saturday night news reporter Alan Eduardo Rico Flores, 22, was in the company of four friends at the store parking of OXXO, located in the streets San Luis Potosi and Boulevard Ortiz Mena in the city of Chihuahua.
Suddenly, another truck parked next to them and an "ecapuchado" or a hooded man dressed in all black and heavily armed got out of the truck. The armed man fired numerous rounds at the men inside the vehicle.
The reporter was killed instantly, and two of his companions were injured. The other two injured were identified as David Adrián Paredes, 20, and Miguel Paredes, 23. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care, while Alan's body was transported to the Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
The criminals responsible were travelling in a tan Xtrail, and at the scene there were about 48 spent casing 7.62x39 commonly used with an AK-47 or as is known in Mexico, “Cuerno de Chivo”.
Authorities were seen providing security to the scene and said they were conducting operations to find the people responsible, but there were no reports of any arrest.

The Committee to Protect Journalists just came out with its 2011 list of most dangerous countries in the world to be a journalist in their opinion.
ReplyDeleteIn order from #1 Iraq, a US military propped, Pentagon puppet government as are really Afghanistan and Somalia, too.
... Somalia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Afghanistan, Nepal, Mexico at #8, Russia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, India
Of course, with recent events, Libya, Syria, Morocco, Egypt, Yemen, and several other African and Asian countries were seen missing from the list. which just seems to stop counting at the number 13. Kind of bizarre I think... I don't think I would want to be a journalist in any of that second group of 13 countries either, if they were to be listed, too.
