Shootout in Mexico. Two suspected drug gang hitmen are killed in a police raid in the western Mexican state of Jalisco Tuesday. Police officers were sent to the town of Ayotlan after receiving an anonymous tip-off informing them that armed men had been seen in an apartment block. Fighting erupted when the men opened fire on the police. Police seized vehicles, guns, assault rifles, grenades and rounds of ammunition.
Secretary of Public Security in Jalisco, Luis Carlos Najera, saying: (Spanish): "We were told (anonymous tip-off) luxury vehicles were seen at these flats with armed men coming and going. When officials arrived, they were received with shots fired from AK-47 rifles. A shootout broke out where two hitmen were killed, another two hitmen were arrested as well as a watchman (working with the cartel)."
More violence in the northern city of Monterrey. Armed men attacked three police stations at dawn Wednesday in separate incidents that took place in less than an hour. Three policemen and a guard were injured during the attacks. In another part of the city on Tuesday, the body of a 25 year-old-man, who had been kidnapped, was found lying under a bridge with a gunshot to the head.
Forensic scientists inspected the crime scene and found five empty bullet shells lying close to the body. In a separate incident two prison guards who were on their way to work, were kidnapped and shot. Their bodies were dumped in the center of Monterrey Tuesday.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon is under growing pressure to end the violence that has killed more than 42,000 people in less than five years in Mexico's war on drugs.
Could it be that everyone has had enough and are turning in everyone that's connected? Now if they could just act fast this could work, make more falcons work for Mexico.
