Murder suspect with cartel ties arrested in Tijuana

Armando Gabriel Perez, arrested in Tijuana, linked to organized crime

Armando Perez, 37, wanted by US authorities, in the brutal October 2010 murder of his teenage ex wife, was captured early this morning in Tijuana. He is being transferred to Mexico City, for an extradition hearing.

Diana Gonzalez, of National City, 19 years old, was found in the woman's restroom of San Diego City College, on October 2nd, 2010, where she was attending classes. She was brutalized, strangled and battered, and stabbed, detectives said she was badly disfigured, to the point it was hard to positively identify her. Her parents were waiting for her in the parking lot, with two campus police cars, having recently filed a temporary restraining order against Perez. In late September 2010, Perez allegedly abducted Gonzalez, from the campus, after her classes, beating and raping her for a period of three days in a series of motel rooms. Perez was arrested in connection with this incident, but released, due to insufficient evidence to formally file charges.

Gonzalez's parents, fearing for their daughter's safety, were at her side, day and night. After her evening class ended, and Gonzalez didn't show, and calls to her cell phone went unanswered, campus security and police searched San Diego City College, until they discovered the body. A blue 1999 Ford Mustang belonging to Perez was found abandoned in Tijuana, the day after the killing He was formally charged with murder a week later, on October, 23, 1010, yet remained a fugitive for more then a year after the murder, believed to be hiding in Tijuana during that time. Authorities believed he was working as an assassin for the Sinaloa Cartel, up until his apprehension this morning.

An early 2011 issue of Zeta Magazine, concerning CAF, and one of it's longtime lieutenants, Melvin Gutiterroz, 'El Melvin', or 'El Camacho', shed some light on Perez and his Tijuana connections. Perez was allegedly a close, and top associate of El Melvin, through their Barrio Logan neighborhood, and Perez worked for CAF, through El Melvin, recruiting gang members for work down south, specifically to cleanse Tijuana of the cells of 'El Tigre' and 'El Guicho'. Perez was again mentioned in a December 2011 article of Zeta, detailing the active cells of Fernando Sanchez Arellano, Perez was once again linked with Melvin. The article, explained that Melvin was working with Sanchez Arellano, but also with 'El Aquiles', Sinaloa's point man in Tijuana.

Now, Perez is in Mexican custody, after his arrest at 3:30 this morning, on Avendia Revolucion, which is less then five minutes from the border crossing. This indicates that Perez was living comfortably and openly in the city, likely with support from his associates in organized crime. It is unknown whether Perez will face organized crime charges, or will be transferred quickly to San Diego, to face the murder charges. Due to the fairly high profile nature of the case, a teenager, viciously murdered on a college campus, it is possible he will be extradited quickly, but it is also possible other charges or agendas will delay this process.

The parents of Diana Gonzaelz, who met Perez when she was 16 at a shopping center, were devastated by her death. They described her as a good girl, who didn't do drugs or party, and was always studying in her room. The sister, and cousin of Gonzalez publicly declared that the DA, Bonnie Dumanis had mishandled the case, by failing to press charges, after her ordeal, just weeks before her death. Representatives for the District Attorney said they would not comment publicly why cases are rejected. Diana Gonzaelz had been married to Perez for about ten months before her death, and was also the mother of a 9 month old child, believed to belong to Perez. With his arrest, they will gain some closure, but a small victory, in a very tragic and unforgiving saga.

  5. This guy was friends whit Sam Esquibel, from Logan Heights and Sal Colabella. Sam is working with El Melvin and they usually bring crystal meth to San Diego. They also have taco shops and other busyness to hide their drug busyness.

  7. I didn't include in the article, but I believe Perez was a meth addict, and killed Diana when he was on a binge, the savagery of the attack, and the fact that he knew he would be caught speak to that. Not to mention his pictures, I'll post the one from earlier today, he looks like he's aged 20 years.

  11. It's called "take our money or we will kill you to drop charges against Perez". That's probably how the case was dropped.

  12. DA should be remanded

  13. What did this girl see in this cave-man? Why would she even be attracted to him? Obviously she was young and naive because that is the only thing I could think of. He must have sweet talked her in the beginning and she fell for it. Unfortunately this heinous crime happened but let this serve as an example to other young girls who are attracted to the bad boy type, don't believe the hype. Immature clowns like this rat are irresponsible, have dominant & aggressive behaviors, are narcissistic and are incapable of respecting anyone let alone the mother of their child.

  14. To anon a few posts up, I seriously doubt any corruption involving Armando Perez and the DA's office. This isn't a ranking player anywhere, a low level thug with some neighborhood connections is all. He isn't paying anyone off, he doesn't have the money, or the clout for any of that.

As far as the girl, and their relationship, I hesitate to post this, but, I think a theory could be presented that they were both into drugs at some point, and she got clean, had the kid, went to school, and that explains their time together. As far as the DA not filing charges, maybe they felt story wasn't credible, there were no witnesses, who knows?

  15. All of you people flapping your gums about this, that. You know the difference, between me and you?And so,i,m similar to him, this is the difference, while he felt nothing about rules, law, morality, murder,i would be the same with him.If she was my sister, and this was happening to her,i would have called him on her cell phone asking to speak to him, being as meek and mild as i could."Please, could i talk to you,she wants to sort it out with you,but she is scared to,so she asked me to call you"Guess what happens next.If i could i wouldn't call him at all,it can be traced,i wouldn't talk to no-one about it,but he would disappear,i guarantee you,it's easy. Now,how many of you flapping your gums could do it,think inside of yourselves, you should know, yes or know, straight away? There is the difference.

  18. February 20, 2012 4:29 PM HEY PANCHO WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? ARE YOU OK OR YOU NEED YOU CUCU PILL.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The comment at 4:29 pm is poorly written and whoever wrote it should go back to school. That is why we have a judicial system in the U.S. and remember this isn't Mexico where most murderers probably get away with murder. I doubt you would have the mental capacity to commit any crime here in the U.S. and evade the long arm of the law.

  20. There was a time when people in TJ took out their own trash. Now the US courts have to deal with this turd for the next 5 years.

There's nobody paying attention to details in TJ anymore, that's why people who care about taking care of business do it in Mexicali.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Mexicali is allegedly a mess right now, but I get what you mean, on the other hand, obviously this guy had friends in places, and he got a pass, but his time eventually came, you think the police were searching frantically for him all this time? As he hid on Revulucion in strip clubs and bars?

I think everyone in TJ is just more concerned with keeping everything and everyone in check, and not having bodies hung and heads tossed in front of buildings, I just saw a story about some kid, extorting businesses, claiming he was with Inge, but he clearly was just some punk. That probably wouldn't have happened 6 or 7 years ago.

  22. J, I'm glad there aren't piles of heads being left around like they were, but this guy would have been a good candidate for stew.

  23. Siskiyou_Kid I didn't understood what you said, but I'm interested in knowing what are you trying to say. Can you explain it a little better please?

Also I was wondering, how did he get arrested? Did someone gave him up? Or was just pure coincidence?

  24. @ February 20, 2012 7:49 PM .US and JUSTICE ?1st retort,O J SIMPSON,2nd retort,$$$$,enough said.
I said some of us were different, you obviously are one of the sheep who would rely on the same kind of justice that helped this girl? The same kind of person who would stand by.This couldn't happen in the US,surely not?You know quite well this could happen.Anyway,my brother you dream on,of your utopian sense of Justice. And Pancho, you a simple doja,go smoke some more meth.

  25. At Anon a few posts up. I was saying that if Perez was working for guys in TJ, they should have taken care of him, instead of burdening the US courts with a long and drawn out legal mess.

As J pointed out, Perez must have been making money for El Melvin, or the Arellano's or El Aquiles would have made him disappear. Of course, as J says they're trying to keep the body count down, and dropping a dime was easier than taking care of it in house.

He was caught in the tourist district on Revolucion, 5 minutes from National City, and again, J has pointed out that it's doubtful the TJ cops were going bar to bar looking for this turd. He was probably cut loose by El Melvin under orders from above.

  26. The DA's office does hold responsibility in this. That is one of the many reasons their office exists. This is why everyone should remember this come election day since Bonnie Dumanis is running for Mayor of San Diego. Clearly no one is perfect and it is a tough job but she is not up to standards for District Attorney - or Mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Zeta Tijuana just posted an article about this guy, and apparently people arrested in San Diego were the ones who provided information on this guy's whereabouts.
