A total of 13 armed suspects were killed in a firefight with a detachment of Mexican Army soldiers in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas Thursday afternoon, according to an announcement posted on the Secretaria de Defensa Nacional (SEDENA) website.
The unit was on patrol on Mexico Highway 2 at the 15 Kilometer marker when soldiers came under small arms fire from an armed group who were travelling en convoy aboard several vehicles. Army return fire killed 13 suspects. Three army fusileros were wounded in the encounter.
Following the attack the unit seized 12 rifles, one loaded rocket launcher, one grenade launcher attachment, one 40mm grenade, weapons magazines, ammunition, a package of cocaine of undisclosed size and three vehicles.
Tamaulipas state is one of the most heavily patrolled states in Mexico at the moment with about 8,000 army troops and about 1,500 Policia Federal effectives. The massive deployment began at the first of the year in support of the ongoing Operacion Noreste security operation.

Liberals and the Media universally criticize Law Enforcement BUT every little bit helps, just think a up and coming Chapo may have been killed, there are 13 less criminals to hijack,extort,kidnap,murder steal etc. So I can't see this as a FAILURE or LOSS it is progress, just think some day Mexico could be a semi-safe place.

ReplyDeleteSEDENA doesn't think it's important enough to include that fact. It is possible soldiers at the scene either didn't know or were told not to reveal that information for operational security. I am like you. I can only guess. My guess is Los Zetas.
As far as the "you guys" appellation; I don't do this for a living. I have a day job. I can only reveal which cartel if I have a reasonable certain it was one or the other.

Every time you see photos of these Criminal gangs they are driving around in stolen vehicles. I guess since there is very sparse and inconsistent law enforcement, that catching people driving stolen vehicles is unrealistic. Anyway great job KILL SOME MORE.

@6:20 AM Does it matter? It's not a football game. Dead is dead. I don't think they should identify which criminal organization they were from. It just feeds into and recognizes that whole gangbanger thing that is at the core of the problem. Also, the media should not provide nicknames when they identify bad guys - like Chapo or El Lasca or El Gato or whatever. It only feeds the fire and makes them seem important.

ReplyDeleteIt took about 4 hours the gunfight in Nuevo Laredo yesterday.Zetas in Nuevo Laredo are way better skilled than any other Zeta Plaza in Mexico thats a fact.I would like to see a group of 15 Antrax vs Military Soldiers and see how many soldiers they can take down besides all the BS they talk about them in there fake corridos.

What happens in Nuevo Laredo stays in Nuevo Laredo and yes the media always hides the number of the dead mexican soliers.......

I have been coming to Nuevo Laredo every Friday and staying with my girlfriend for about five weeks now,I just walked back to Laredo tx to go to the bank and looked at borderland beat on my iPhone and read this story.i just asked her if she knew this happened and she told me she did not.which didn't surprise me as I have noticed we in America seem to be better informed on the narco violence.and the strange part is that she works for the municipal in Nuevo Laredo and interacts with police and army on a daily basis

The round is the same used in the Vulcan AAA. It is twice as big and 3 times more poweful than the 50 cal. and 2.5 times the maximum effective range. This 20 MM is already in use by snipers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
