El 85 of Jalisco Nueva Generación Falls

Mexican soldiers take positions during an anti-drug operation in Guadalajara. Mexican authorities announced they had captured the leader of the Jalisco New Generation drug cartel in Guadalajara, along with a top lieutenant.

Mexican authorities announced they had captured the leader of the Jalisco New Generation (Jalisco Nueva Generación) drug cartel in Guadalajara, along with a top lieutenant.

Military officials identified the man as Erick Valencia Salazar, alias "El 85" and his top lieutenant as Otoniel Mendoza aka "Tony Montana."

Several bursts of gunfire were exchanged during the operation in the Guadalajara metro area suburb.
Officials also seized over 30 rifles, grenades, magazines and cartridges of different calibers, according to a statement.

In the hours following the arrests, gangs of armed men, presumably working for the Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel, commandeered buses and other vehicles in Guadalajara and other parts of the state, setting many of them on fire. The disturbances mobilized hundreds of security and emergency personnel and created significant panic, as well as traffic jams.

Valencia Salazar was one of the narco-lieutenants of Milenio Cartel or cartel de los Valencia before he got involved with the Sinaloa Cartel. After the death of Ignacio "Nacho" Coronel in 2010, Erick Salazar broke away to form El Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG).

Valencia Salazar was boss of the CJNG along with Nemesio Oseguera Ramos, alias "El Mencho" and Martín Arzola Ortega, "El 53", who was arrested in 2011, they were the three main leaders of the criminal group.

The arrests of "El 85" and El 53" are big blows to the CJNG on behalf of the federal government.

The Jalisco group is one of the emerging smaller cartels in Mexico, which has been ravaged by fighting between the drug gangs and security forces, claiming over 50,000 deaths in the last five years.

More information pending as it becomes available.

    1. If anything the area will see a spike in violence. Another Cartel will challenge for that city. It's basic logic, the problems are too complex to just go away with a capture of a few.

  5. I'm confused with the news comming out. Nemesio Oceguera alias "Mencho" has always been number 1 of CDJNG followed by Valencia being #2. I'm going with the above theory that Erick Valencia broke away from CDJNG and joined the miilenio/zeta/familia club. The tatics used by them point in this direction. Don't let the news comming out fool you, Mencho has always been the head of CDjNG do all the research you want. Hopefully the interview them soon.

  7. I always heard Valencias were cool with Zeta/Milenio, any insider care to chime in? Also how about the link between CJNG and the CDS, It's a known fact that el Chapo has both his sons running around Guadalajara with el Chanangel, el Nacho's nephew, what connection do they have with these guys, there has to be one

  8. @3:51pm
Milenio and Valencia's are the same thing. Erick Valencia Salazar has no relation to Oscar nava Valencia, one of the founders of milenio and currently allied with la familia and Los zetas. CDJNG is a cell of cartel de Sinaloa currently at war with zetas, milenio, la resistencia, la familia.

  9. for everybody that is confused about this one, there's people with the last name valencia on both sides( milenio/zeta and cjng) since they split from coronel's group when he died, all the valencias (formerly known as milenio cartel) were under coronel's group, milenio/zeta=la resistencia and cjng=most of coronel's top level people ( like mencho who by the way was not arrested ) so dont believe all you read on the news, its sad to see all this violence, im personally not a narco fan or nothing like that, im from gdl so i like to know what goes on there, most likley the arrests were on people from other group not cjng and that is because mencho is the number one (cjng) and not that 85 erick guy or the other one, its probly a missunderstanding from the media, remember that mexican authorities will never say the true, and media just want to sell a note not knowing if its true or not, oh one more thing that chivis reporter from here in my personal opinion dont belive everithing she says, she smells like a zeta fan, just pay atention on her posts

I'm in Guadalajara and can tell you that things never left being normal. Someone told me yesterday that buses were being burned in a few parts of the city but that really doesn't change anything much. If a bus is burning, you go around it. Some people heard the news and refrained from going out so the streets had less traffic but other than that, people went about doing whatever they have to do every day to get by.

The parasites that burned the buses to protest the incarceration of a couple of their leaders have gone too far and more resources are going to be dedicated to wiping them out. Burning buses is not going to procure the release of their criminal chiefs and the crooked "businesses" they run are not what makes society function. They want to create the illusion that things are out of control but this is a city of 6 million people and it takes more than a few burning buses to make much of a difference. A few bus lines took some of their buses out of circulation for a few hours and some stopped running a little earlier than usual, but that's about it.

As these corrupt elements come out of the woodwork, they'll become easier to eliminate.

  11. They didnt burn the busses for the release of el 85. They burned them so that they can block the roads from the federalies and get el mencho out of guadalajara.
