Entire police force quits: Guadalupe y Calvo

Diario

Translated by un vato for Borderland Beat

Chihuahua.  8-19-2012. The Guadalupe y Calvo municipality was left without public safety personnel after members of organized crime organizations threatened to kill them early yesterday morning, report confidential sources. In the afternoon, a group of Ministerial Police traveled to the town to carry out patrol duties, although they are expected to arrive early this morning.

"We're very scared, there's no police and we're at the mercy of sicarios (killers) because the few Judicial policemen don't want to come out, they're scared, too, and of course they're afraid, because just a few days ago they killed their police chief in Baborigame," says a resident. He stated that for some time the municipality has been in a state of fear because sicarios from Sinaloa are coming in through Morelos or through Dolores.

"The Army doesn't do anything here, you see armed people everywhere, they know there are a lot of sicarios from Sinaloa but they don't arrest them; they (the Army) have the means with which to do this, but it looks like they don't want to, so, who else is going to (arrest) them?" said the complainant.

"We need help, we need for the authorities to be aware that the residents of Guadalupe y Calvo are in danger. Last night, at the seat of the municipality (seat of municipal government), we were left without police, they all left, about 40 police officers, including the commander and the director. They all turned in their weapons and left because the sicarios threatened them and now there's nobody left to protect the residents. The police offices are closed, so it the mayor's office. We need somebody to protect us because we are honest, hard working people and we're afraid we'll be murdered for no reason. They shoot people to death almost every day and nobody does anything," he adds.

Yesterday afternoon, State Attorney General staff confirmed the (police) disbandment in Guadalupe y Calvo. For this reason, a group of ministerial police officers was organized to be transferred to the mountain community to help the residents while the problem of lack of municipal police is resolved.

  1. This is where my dad grew up. So sad to hear about all this. Back in the day, the only problems Guadalupe y Calvo had were feuds betweens families and yeah, they would kill each other once in a while but not like this.

  4. Will the real Clint Eastwood please step up - they've got a job for you!

It's too bad that these towns are so poor, otherwise they could hire people rom outside Mexico to provide security. It's probably their only hope for an honest justice system.

Dude, this is in Guadalupe not in Ciudad Juarez, Leyzaola is the police chief in JUAREZ, don`t be ignorant, they are 2 diferent places in the same state, it`s like asking the LAPD to get people arrested in San Diego.

  9. Mexico will have to turn to another country for help and wihout delay. Some will reject thhe idea but in this news article Guadalupe & Calvo are without protection so what do you do in such a dangerous situation? Get help from whatever you can.

  10. Sad...poor folks. I don't blame them for quitting (although they shouldn't have turned in their weapons). After all, if they don't even go after murderers, will they really target people who didn't return their work guns? God help them.

  13. If these people arm themselves the govt will hunt them down don't be so Nieve. Then these people will have the govt,la line, los cds,los zetas,or whoever after them. Our govt is with the cartels and against our people. Our so called govt will never ask for help because they are the criminals. Without the help pf the govt these cartels wouldn't be shit. The mexican govt is their whore mother and they hide behind her skirt. Atte malcolm mex.

  16. México has no need for outside help Mexico has the budget the army and tactics to squish all the cartels at the same time. The problem is the main cartel heads are the same ones who authorize the army when to mobilize.

  25. You said "México has no need for outside help Mexico has the budget the army and tactics to squish all the cartels at the same time. The problem is the main cartel heads are the same ones who authorize the army when to mobilize. (4:47 PM)".

In other words, Mexico's Enemies Are In Control of the Country's CIVILIAN Protection Mechanism !!

Your statement is in contradiction with itself.
It would be more correct to say:

"Though México has the Budget, the Army and Tactics to squash all the cartels México NEEDS Outside Help Because The Main Cartel Heads are the same ones who authorize the army when to mobilize."

Care to make suggestions on How To Resolve An Internal Major Problem? As it is now THE FOX IS GUARDING THE HEN HOUSE!!!

  28. Morelos is an old mining town very near the border of Chihuahua and Sinaloa beyond the Rio San Miquel (La Barranca Sinforosa). Dolores is closer to Guadalupe Y Calvo and, also, very close to the Chihuahua/Sinaloa border. I'm not convinced it all is the Sinaloa Cartel. The Zetas are moving into the region and fighting it out with the Sinaloa Cartel and driving ranchers from their homes.

  30. Chihuahua is getting heat right now.
Killings over the weekenend in Parral, some players were taken out. Which they would cover more on that region as it's shifting right now.
That southern region is Chapo controlled territory, could be Chapos vs Carrilos and Beltrans but everything south of Chihuahua and Jimenez has over the last couple years been Chapos people controlling that area. Blood shed has existed but for the most part the region was never as bad as Juarez or Chihua. City.

    ReplyDelete
  31. If Chapo has been in control of Guadalupe y Calvo for some time and all of a sudden the police force, which must have been working for Chapo's interests, decides to quit because of death threats who do you think is exerting pressure? It is obvious if you have been following events up in the sierra that the Juarez Cartel and its allies are reassuming control by force of the territory they have controlled for years.

This is a critical tactical maneuver on the part of the Juarez/Beltran Leyva alliance to essentially cut off an important route that would force Chapo's Sierra operations to be cut in half, one route through Sonora and the other through Durango, but with pressure from Beltran Leyvas in northern Sinaloa and from M10 in Northern Durango his territorial control of the Golden Triangle is seriously being contested. Let's wait a few months and we might be seeing Culiacan sieged by Chapo's enemies forcing the Sinaloa Cartel into a defensive position much like the one he placed the Juarez Cartel in for a few years in Ciudad Juarez or Chapo will make a stand and share control of some of Sonora and Durango, but I foresee him losing territorial control of the Sierra Chihuahuense in about three more years at most, the time it takes for his state government backup from Gov. Duarte to run out once Duarte's term ends.

Had loser gangbangers pulled shit like that here in the States not only would the police arrest or kill all of them but the population here would happily guard our towns and kick the shit out of them also. They are nothing to us.
The difference between the Mexican and the Americans is we have Balls and cannot be made to get on our knees for anyone!!

The TSA is busy groping its USA citizens, your presidents have been building a cage for you over there yet you think you're above it all and doing much better than Mexico!! Your representatives are corrupt. Most of your presidents have been Freemasons & you have never really had Democracy. How is it that men who offer themselves to represent the public Secretly Belong To secret societies swear an oath to remain faithful to its society?

... "If one group is effectively in control of national governments and multinational corporations; promotes world government through control of media, foundation grants, and education; and controls and guides the issues of the day; then they control most options available. The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), and the financial powers behind it, have done all these things, and promote the "New World Order", as they have for over seventy years.

The CFR is the promotional arm of the Ruling Elite in the United States of America. Most influential politicians, academics and media personalities are members, and it uses its influence to infiltrate the New World Order into American life. Its' "experts" write scholarly pieces to be used in decision making, the academics expound on the wisdom of a united world, and the media members disseminate the message. ... "

  42. I'm a Californian now but my father was from Guadalupe y Calvo and I maintain a very strong connection to my Mexican roots. We are one of the many families who left Gpe y Calvo during the Mexican revolution for political reasons. I never knew my father because he died when I was 4 years old, but I grew up among the Mexican community with my Aunts, Uncles and cousins. I can't mention my name and I can't say my father's name because most of my family who remain there are involved in drug trafficking, only they don't know that I know. The last time I was there I played the part of an old man; un viejo sordo, mudo, y ciego. This family of mine didn't start out as being affiliated with any cartel. They just wanted to grow a little weed, sell it and use the proceeds to build a better life for themselves AND for their community. My cousins talked about using the natural resources of the Sierra to start businesses. Real businesses; not bogus chop shops and fronts for money laundering. They really did want to help their people. Querian ser los heroes nuevos de su pueblo. Instead, they were coerced into being middlemen for much bigger players. Those bigger players sent in Colombian rapists and child molesters who roped in other families and corrupted the politicians, supplied booze to the priests who heard confessions and coerced the knowledge from them to blackmail the local populace. Those were the late 80s and early 90s and the problem has only gotten bigger. In the meantime, legitimate Canadian and American business interests have bought and sold mineral rights for the last 40 years in the hopes of extracting gold and silver from the rich, untapped veins which still exist in and around Gpe y Calvo. These enterprises cannot get off the ground because of the constant in-fighting among the power possessors in el D.F., el estado de Chihuahua, the municipality of Gpe y Calvo and the drug lords. The people of Gpe y Calvo could benefit very much from the extraction of these metals. The infrastructure would improve (for example, the pitted, pock- marked and pot-holed road to Parral), the standard of living would improve (maybe we could get the old tile roofs back instead of the ugly corrugated iron and tin roofs that you see everywhere now), the level of security would greatly improve because los federales would protect their interests and lastly, their would be good paying, honest jobs in the mines which would help lessen the dependence on illegal drug pursuits to make a living. Thinking positively and with some measure of hope is better than wallowing in self recrimination, self doubt, and self castigation for the national tragedy of narcotrafficking and the other crimes great and small that accompany it. I have read each and every one of these posts and I know that everyone loves their home and their community and wishes it to be better than it is. Call it prayer, call it attention, call it mindfulness, or call it el amor de la patria but whatever you do, keep it positive and foremost in your minds. Only this will make a difference. JHD. Un pobre hijo de la Sierra.
