Ghost Town
Early Tuesday morning I began
receiving messages that in the Coahuila city of Monclova an intense shootout had begun
in the north of the city.
An hour later came word that another severe shootout had begun, this one included grenades, pochallantas, narco blockades. Mantas were displayed in several parts of the city, and signed "CDG".
An hour later came word that another severe shootout had begun, this one included grenades, pochallantas, narco blockades. Mantas were displayed in several parts of the city, and signed "CDG".
Though the state acknowledged one
shootout, as usual the severity was downplayed. They reported 1 death, and 2 injured. The death was reported by the state to be a soldier.
Hospitals, DIF Health Clinics , and Social
Security Clinics were guarded in an attempt to prevent kidnapping of physicians
as often occurs after conflicts.
As typical in these events of
violence, it was people on the ground turning to twitter and facebook to spread
the word, and warn people in Monclova of the danger.
They reported that the Mexican army was in a clash with multiple groups of armed men.
They reported that the Mexican army was in a clash with multiple groups of armed men.
A little after 7 AM the “code red”
alert was activated, which warns citizens
to remain indoors. By nightfall streets
were void of vehicles as people complied with the code red rendering the city a
virtual ghost town.
There is a report on twitter that some of the Monclova mantas read "For Every Sicario Killed We Will Kill Five Students", however I am yet to see a photo or confirmation. A similar rumor ran rampant in the Coahuila city of Acuña a week ago but I could not substantiate the rumors truthfulness. People were fearful enough to keep their children out of school.

All photos are from Twitter - I removed two after image search says they are old fotos. The manta was from February and the two dead narco in the SUV was a foto from 2009. Sorry about that. Then decided to repost the manta from February as it may give a better idea what is happening in Monclova:
A mainboard commenter posted this translation:
Attention, City of Monclova. This is a wakeup call, now that we are here. We did not come here to murder or kidnap innocent people, nor to take your money or goods. We came to finish off the ‘Cartel of the Z’. I came XTI, abuelo…. (this must be a list of names of the CDG guys on that line, shameless self-promotion). Don’t blame the government. There I left you an example of what (blurry last two words)” Atte. Gulf Cartel
A big Thank You to "VO" and "NB"

someone sent me this one:
http://red-crucero.com/2011/03/sitio-boderland-beat-publico-foto-reciente-de-el-chapo-y-asegura-es-real/
in the manta where it say" X ti",that mean" for you".."Where he for you Abuelo,Dumbo, and Z-40
DeleteX TI= por ti..venemos por ti..Abuelo,Dumbo y Z-40
Deletealso in the last paragraph of the manta where it says "gobierno",look on top it says "lava caros" in green letters next to Z-40..please re-write the translation cause it also says that its a list of C.D.G,but its Z..fucking translator aint mexican..
DeleteHey I found the Univision one.
ReplyDeletethat was a good article laying out the facts:
http://noticias.univision.com/narcotrafico/noticias/article/2013-03-19/aparece-nueva-imagen-de-el-chapo-guzman#axzz2O6A3EAM0
and don't give credit to the "people" who translated the manta..cause in the article . it says that its a list of G.D.G list..its actually says "venemos X(por) ti"..Abuelo,Dumbo,y Z=40..those are Zetas, not C.D.G..please correct the article so you won't confuse people..
Deleteit says "pinche lava caros" in green letters next to where it says Abuelo,Dumbo,y Z-40..
DeleteThe Manta in the forum post says: “Attention, City of Monclova. Gulf Cartel
ReplyDeleteNope the manta says the following:
Delete"Attention citizens of Monclova. We are letting you know that we have arrived. We are not here to murder or innocent people. Nor to take your money. We are here to exterminate the remnants of the Zeta cartel.I am here for you: Abuelo,Dumbo y Z40 (fuckin dishwasher). Stop blaming the goverment. I left you proof of our capabilities."
XTI simply meeans I'm coming for you
DeleteThank god. Mund0/blog de narco have no shame and steal the work of hardworking journalist from Mexico and all over.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the translation! S.W.
ReplyDeleteAs chivis pointed out this manta is from a previous post but may help somewhat, because obviously CDG are still making heat,CDG friends and turncoats
ReplyDeleteSad to see all the women and people lying on the floor taking cover,it is a sad thing.Going about their business and this can happen at a moments notice.I wonder what little kids feel who are with their mothers and vice versa?
ReplyDeletethats awesome bb is blowing up big time congrats to all involved!

DeleteI think the translation "...vengo XTI abuelo..."
ReplyDeleteshould read "I come for you, abuelo, dumbo, z-40" XTI means por ti. These are Zetas not gulfo members.
Not trying to be a dick, thanks for the translation work
"Vine XTI, abuelo, dumbo, z40" means "I came for you: Abuelo, Dumbo and z40", it means that the CDG came to get Abuelo, Dumbo and Z40, it´s not CDG people they are mentioning but rather the Z´s who they are after.
ReplyDeleteChivis those names are not CDG self promotion, those are the names of those targeted, abuelo, dumbo and z40, I came XTI is por ti, I came for you.
ReplyDeleteThe part that says "I came XTI abuelo" means vengo por ti abuelo..so it means "I came for you abuelo, dumbo and z40". X=por
ReplyDeleteThe Manta Translation is not all correct, they got this last part wrong :
ReplyDelete" I came XTI, abuelo…. (this must be a list of names of the CDG guys on that line, shameless self-promotion). Don’t blame the government. There I left you an example of what (blurry last two words)” Atte. Gulf Cartel"
What it really says:
" Vengo X Ti" as in "Im coming for you"
(and then writes the names of Z bosses they want to kill or find in the city) "Abuelo", "Dumbo" y "Z40"
(then in the corner, barely legible they include an insult to 40: "Pinche lavacarros" or "fuckin carwasher".
Last 2 inlegible words at the end: "les espera" or "lo que les espera"
"Im coming for you "Abuelo", "Dumbo", Z40"fuckin carwasher"
stop blaming the government, Here's a sample of whats waiting for you.
Can anybody fill me in about Guerrero Coahuila
ReplyDeletethose names are not cdg, probably zzz in charge of la plaza, vine xti, " i came for you "abuelo" "dumbo" & z40 fucking carwasher" that's what a can read
ReplyDeleteCHIVIS.. Were it say's "I came XTI, Abuelo"
ReplyDeleteXTI = Por ti
XTI = For you
I hope that Helped..
From G.One
“Attention, City of Monclova. This is a wakeup call that now we are here. We did not come here to murder or kidnap innocent people, nor to take your money or posessions. We came to finish off the ‘Cartel of the Z’. I came for you... Abuelo, Dumbo and Z-40. Stop blaming the government. Here I left you an example of what awaits you.” Atte. Gulf Cartel
ReplyDeleteCleaned that translation up a bit... so it's clear. Abuelo, Dumbo and Z-40 are apparently the Zeta leaders that are present in and around Monclova.
Esa manta dice "vengo xt! " means im coming for you "abuabuelo , dumbo,y Z40"
ReplyDeleteXt = por ti
Thanks for the article
That isnt cdg ppl.
ReplyDeleteIts a manta to abuelo, dumbo, y Z40.
"Xt!" Means "por ti"
If you don't have proof of anyone threatening students you should not report on it. It is irresponsible and only shows that you are trying to sensationalize the problems in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteGood translation. Just to add that XTI means "por ti"....for you
ReplyDeleteVengo XTI = I come for you....
Actually when they wrote "Vengo XTI..." They mean, "I came 4u...", as in "I came for you"..
ReplyDeleteAttention, City of Monclova. Let it be known that we are now here. We did not come here to kill or kidnap innocent people, nor to take your money or your patrimony. We have come to finish off El Cartel de Los Zetas. I am coming for you Abuelo, Dumbo, and Z40. Stop blaming the government. Here is an example of what is to come. Atte. Cartel del Golfo
ReplyDeleteThe ones heating up the plaza in La Laguna area is the Cartel del Poniente aka Los Dannys they are fighting against the CDS in Durango and Z in Coahuila.
ReplyDeleteThe CDG has some serious problems in there own cartel with all the traitors going on in Reynosa it seems that the CDG is very weak and can't imagine them in Coahuila.
Chivis here is a link of some narco manta hanged in Torreon naming some CDS pople that operate in Durango.
http://www.notinfomex.info/2013/03/torreon-narcomantas-para-los-del-cartel.html
Hope u put this in the front page too :)
Two Borders!
A more clear translation of the manta; “Attention, City of Monclova. This is a wakeup call, now that we are here. We did not come here to murder or kidnap innocent people, nor to take your money or goods. We came to finish off the ‘Cartel of the Z’. I came For you, abuelo, dumbo and z40. Don’t blame the government. There I left you an example of what .... (last of the sentence is too blurry to be read & translated)” Atte. Gulf Cartel I take no credit for this, I took it from the original post and modified a bit. :D
ReplyDeleteHi chivis the part after " no quitarles el dinero" I believe its text lingo " vengo x ti " which means I come for you. Abuelo , Dumbo & Z-40 fucking car washer. Stop blaming the government. Then the last part is blurry but says " Hay te deje una muestra" translated is "I left you an example" the rest is unreadble...

ReplyDeleteFor 5:29 & 7:22 PM. X TI is as: 4 U = "For you"
ReplyDeleteYou will find several explanations in above comments. (The letter x or capital X, is used in spanish to mean "por", or for.
You're welcome ;-)
Chivis please educate yourself more on hood rat speak so that you can pass off like you actually know what you are translating.
ReplyDeletedo u even habla espanol? lmao
Hey Bro! You need to go back to junior high and take some basic English language comprehension classes.
Delete10:51PM
ReplyDeleteHood rat speak? No Thank you! But pendejo, I did not translate anything in this post. Obviously you are ESL, (do you know what that is?) So I will break it down for you:
I wrote this article nothing was translated.
The manta clearly states in the caption (do you know what that is?) that a mainboard COMMENTER translated the manta.
How do you feel now?
Time for you to amble over to BDN with the other lowlife group of malefactors.
LMFAO at you 10:51 learn to read English hood rat.
ReplyDeletehood rat just sounds awful....makes me wanna grab it by the throat and strangle it,with gloves on,yuk!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Zetas take it to another level on the battlefield, they fight to the death against Army the marines and Gates also federals and local police....thats just how it is,the Zee for another ten years hip hip hooray!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course English is not my native language; of course I don't know how to express myself well in English; however there is something I MUST do and that is to tell some of the readers that we should show respect and appreciation for what Chivis and all the other reporters do in this blog. As far as I know they don't receive a single penny for the hard work it takes to them in order to keep us informed of what is going on in Mexico, so we can sometimes take steps when traveling into some of the mexican states, for our security. Do you even imagine how much time it takes from their lives to gather and translate the notes for us? Therefore, if anybody is looking for "Shakespearean English" kindly go to England blogs.. that's it .. (ahuecando el ala). As far as I am concerned I think that everything that is written by them is perfectly understood, don't you think so? Thank you so much Chivis and contributor team members. Excellent work. VO
