Guerrero: Among Mexico's Poorest States Defends Against Crime

Borderland Beat

The state of Guerrero (which means "warrior") is one of the poorest in Mexico and the site of some of the worst violence in the battle between the drug cartels and Mexican authorities. As a result of the violence, hundreds of civilians have armed themselves with machetes, rifles, and shotguns, put masks on, and decided to police their own communities, effectively taking justice into their own hands.
I have referred to the constitutional right of the indigenous groups to self-govern, in this video a man known as “G-1” explains the federal and state law.
Thank you to the reader that sent this video in…

  1. The community police aren't having much effect at the present moment in Guerrero. You have 80-man armed cartel convoys of LFM, CT, and Guerreros CJNG killing and kidnapping people. Right now Guerrero is looking more like a inferno than a tourist destination.

  3. Citizens defending themselves. Nothin wrong with that. They are just doing what they feel they need to do to bring back the peace. Thier are places in the US where this needs to happen also. We have evolved into a society that protects the criminals. Google it. any homeowner arrested for injuring a robber.multiple examples.

    1. Depends what state u are in in the u.s.oklahoma has the make my day law where u have the right to use lethal force to protect yourself and property.in ga a man shot a robber to death in line at a mall cause he was trying to hold ppl up at gunpoint.the northeast and west are the places where the try you in court for killing a criminal

  7. Allowing evil cartels 2 govern u & ur business is absolutely crazy & sooooo -dysfunctional. These people r evil & cruel -Mexico & its citizens r going 2 have 2 rise up n arms & stop these evil forces -who have multiplied & devided themselves 2 furthermore terrorize the people of Mexico. Mexico, has lost respect thru out the world. The levels of corruption r beyond believe, & that is one of the reasons the government doesn't want civilians armed &fighting back -the corrupt officials wish 2 keep governing & making their extra tons of money -greed, greed. USA, is putting a rope around their own neck 4 allowing this 2 get so out of control - its already spilling over & god knows what else will come of all this.

What intentions does the us have i mean they trueley arent doing shit to sovle the problem to the point ever country in this hemisphere is in celac except canada and us which are also the only two countries that havnt legalized drugs. Do you think this is just too lucrative for mexixan narcos mexican politicians american politicians amerivan banks private prisons ect. Or is there a bigger motive behind all this?

  8. If you want to help Mexico you only need to change one law.let Americans buy property.they would start on the gulf and Atlantic ocean and meet in the middle.they won't pay extortion and they will fightback and hire people to help.the cartels would be just like the Indians.

  10. Go senor's of Guerrero.Show everyone that Mexico is NOT EPN,PRI,PAN,CDS,CDG,ZETA,CHAPO,MAYO etc,it is her people. The personality's that are in authority in Mexico from EPN down, are obviously failing the Mexican people, for a plethora of reasons they have completely lost the faith of the people. The towns have been forced into taking up arms, they would rather be able to rely on police institutions to keep them and their livelihoods safe but alas it is patently obvious that they can rely on no one but themselves. The politicians of Mexico are failing her citizens in almost every way. There was absolutely no other course of action they could take, they are still asking for help? They were forced into this by the ineptitude, greed and downright corruption inherent in these connected peoples who think only of themselves and their extended circles.Let the politicians utter their well thought out bullshit on constitutional and moral law,at the same time as decent people are asking them for help, with none forthcoming. They have failed in every facet of their office, time to disregard the uselessness of EPN/PRI/PAN etc.

  11. This is good it seems to be happening more and more. I think vigilante justice is Mexico's only hope in a country where the corruption is off the scale.

  12. As long as the violence is contained within Mexico's borders, who cares??

  13. I care , no one should have to live under the yoke of tyranny be it state or narco imposed. In a free society people should be able to go about their lives without threat to life or property.
