in hell. The video below was sent in by a reader, (BB has the best readers anywhere) it is a very short version of older interview videos I have posted previously. At one point when asked about whether he'd seen Z40 behead people etc, it almost looked as though Reta were about to cry, and he said "he used to make us watch all that". He also said things like "these people aren't normal, I've seen what they do.

One thing to bear in mind during this video is, Rosalio Reta's only goal in life now is probably getting parole in the future. To do that, he has to convince people he was manipulated into committing his crimes. Fueling Trevino's gruesome reputation is the easiest way for him to do that, so bear in mind he might be totally exaggerating his 'Z40 stories'.

Hi Chivis, thanks for all the hard work you've done to get this news out and get these discussions rolling. I can tell you that I know a good few people who have obviously heard the news of Trevino's capture, but not seen the BB discussions yet, so there's lots of input still to come from them, and I assume others as well.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree that some movies should be made about some of these groups, with all that i read about, this cartel shit is completely off the charts, batshit insane. this guy begs to have a movie or series that really chronicle who he is, regardless of infamy, bad or evil. z-40 is a living legend. i know he has bent mexican life towards the worst it could possibly have been imagined, intimidated a whole industry based on intimidation, he truly is the blue print of the bad guy, im sure what he did will be the things mothers tell their children about to misbehave. you know he got off on the sadistic violence and unmitigated aggression. someone like this only comes around once in a great while. chapo is more of an old school grease the wheel kind of guy who started some shit that really lit off the powder keg, but he seems to not get his hands dirty much, maybe im wrong. but trevin~o's intent seems much less about longetivity than it is about seeing things burn to the ground. I couldnt say about this reta guy but with so much crazy stories firing off, about 40, at least a few have to be true. i hold no special place in my heart for these guys but rather repulsion. now that he is locked up, this now seems like it has been strategically hapening for the last two years, all the big guys got taken out, the other leader was sqashed like a bug, their major suppliers have been getting taken out, their money men have been taken off the streets, their european guy was arrested last week, on and on. what did he have to go on, you can only kidnap and extort only so much, their major pipelines were being cutoff. he was probably starting to owe alot of money to a lot of people close to him who knew where he was and his movements were becoming more and predictable. his world was probably starting to cave in on him and he just said fuck it. he was a huge bully and all bullies are cowards, he put himself in contact with people who were as depraved and as fierce as him, who were hungrier than he was and he probably realized his days alive were severely reduced. he probably was about to be on a video and get eaten alive, so he got his last two loyal guys with him and turned himself in to stay alive. maybe no?

ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the probability that Reta is exaggerating and buying into the fact that most people hate Trevino ore than him. Another thing I noticed about this video was that Reta and his wife Erica seem resentful and disapproving of Trevino, while in an earlier interview with Reta he stated that he admired Trevino more than anyone. He really looked up to him and thought he was an excellent leader. So, I wish I could see the entire video from which this is an excerpt, because they've clearly taken clips in each of the interviews that backs the focus of that particular video.
It doesn't matter if he's telling the truth or not, all I'm trying to say is that if you see someone like this with tattoos on their face like his in your neighborhood, run him over with your car no one's going to care especially the police .

It's good to hear these wise words from both of you. Sensationalism has picked its prey with Z40, and I think the implications of this trend reach well beyond him.
I know quite a lot about Z40, at least everything that's ever made it to the news and internet, to the point that I can see a ton of mistakes in the articles posted this week on sites like CNN (BB's solid on its facts though!). I see how facts get miscommunicated and rumours get spread, and the types of false information (a la boiled babies) that writers latch on to. This convinces me that my own info is probably way off from the truth, and gives me an idea of the vast uncertainty of ANY of the drug war info that we think we know about.
So take everything with a grain of salt. I'm happy to say that the articles and discussions here on BB seem like the most legit source of drug war information on the internet. Los props :)
