Mexico's violence claims the life of another regional Mexican singer
Culiacan, Sinaloa •  State Ministerial Police reported that two cousins were killed as they listened to music outside a nightclub located in Tres Ríos, in the capital of Sinaloa.

The incident occurred around 4:00 on Sunday after the victims left the dance club Mala Noche, and began to listen to music with a band member in the Mala Noche parking lot which is located on Diego Valadés Boulevard
The victims were identified as Diego Antonio Espinoza Leyva, 25, and Jose Iraq Salazar Leyva, 25, cousins. The first was a former member of the musical group "Escolta de Guerra" which specialized in narcocorridos. Now he the lead singer of Los Admirables de Sinaloa.

The state police said witnesses reported that the three men continued partying in the parking lot with some women. Suddenly,  more than seven armed men arrived, in at least three recent model vehicles.  They opened on fire on the cousins who were killed dead on the spot

The wounded managed to run to safety within the commercial complex which houses the bar.
The blasts caused panic in the area. Everyone in the club, while the assailants fled in their luxury vehicles heading north, witnesses said.

Emergency arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of the cousins. The survivor was taken by ambulance to a private clinic.

Background
In Jan 2011 After a little respite from the stage, Diego Espinoza, former member of the group Escolta de Guerra, has been preparing new material for his first solo effort.  He'll intoduce to his fans songs both new corridos and ballads.

Diego Antonio Espinoza Leyva's career began at age 17 singing with the group Amantes de Sinaloa, while working in a restaurant and doing private performances. Over the years he found the opportunity to start a Norteño band Escolta de Guerra where he stayed for a time. The group matured and he started to work full time on his next effort.

Diego Espinoza, embarked on a new endeavor that launched his solo career. "In this new facet of my life, I want to offer the public good new material, " ...I would like to transcend borders and be among the favorites of the public.  I have a new mix of corridos and five romantic songs written by Rodolfo Carlo Pérez Libriesca. I want to tour all over the state, in the U.S. and would love to have people recognize and like my songs." On the other hand, and one of  my concerns is to tour  with artists who have worked hard to gain the affection of the public like Roberto Tapia y Titanes de Durango.
The Attorney General of Sinaloa has closed the bar during this investigation.

At the scene, forensic experts collected 36 shell casings 9mm, AK-47 or "goat horn" and "cop killers." Authorities at the scene said that by the evidence found, apparently there may have been more people who they believe were translated in private vehicles to different hospitals.

  4. Is sad that singers can cause stress on some stupid killers, just because they sing this or that song, songs that mention their rivals or some other things that encounter offensive to their bussines or affairs, I will always find this the dumbest thing ever.

    1. Not your family or friend, so you could care less. That's the problem in Mexico. I mean the world.

  10. I don't think that it is random violence by unknown persons. It has the hallmarks of an orchestrated hit so it is of significance. Singer assassinations in Mexico have been for singers praising/ glorifying a rival, saying something to offend a narco loser or for playing at a rivals party. 'La Barbie' said it best in referring to these killings "son unos estupideses". Any narco that whacks a musician is showing weakness and pettiness. Since Mexico is largely unable to reign in the criminals they will be dealt with by God on Judgement Day.

you could be right. and sometimes you know, you wonder how many of these killings are for personal reasons instead of the narco's. with all of the violence in Mexico, it's not hard for a person to cover up murder.

still just the same ... too many musicians are dying. it's a sign of a very bad sickness in society. all they do is make life a little happier.

    1. Yes, I agree. I know of people in tijuana that settles personal matter amd they simply wrapped them up in carpets and threw them in a ditch. The next day the news would say that it was another dead narco. No one hesitates to murder in Mexico. They're in a bar and some minor scuffle or jealousy can lead to murder. Sad sad sad!

  20. Hi 8:46 pm-Sure, I suppose anything is possible. I've heard nada about this case being over women. But with luxury vehicles, weapons, bullets, it was a organized crime hit, for whatever reason. I too, was thinking, it was most likely because of rival glorification due to the number of musicians who have been killed previously for the same thing. But I don't know. I'll be the first to admit it.

But I do agree in Mexico, fingers point almost automatically to narcos for deaths that are the result of domestic squabbles. Very convenient for some people in bad relationships.

But more often than not, deaths are narco related for a while now anyway.

  21. I never heard this was about a girlfriend, a wife, poaching or encroaching of any sort. I'm with Havana on this one and am impressed she is big enough to admit when she doesn't know something.

  22. 12:50 pm- it wasn't that, people are speculating

  23. Those killers have the death penalty, the Mexican lawmakers can't have death penalty because the murderers are their friends and employees,or their bosses

  24. That is some horrible music. Oompah oompah oompah. Mexico's 3 biggest problems. #1, corruption. #2, putting your used toilet paper in a trash can or on the floor next to the toilet (everywhere else in the world they flush it). #3, this kind of music. Fix those three things and you will have a prosperous nation for all.

    1. Does the toilet paper drive anyone besides Americans crazy? It is very tiresome process, no? Just bring the damn plumbing up to speed! First handle the corrupt gov. Which means they'll never get to the toilets.

  25. Narcos need their sleep also!!
Music at 4am will make anyone act funny
