Autodefensas take action as Michoacán descends into massive chaos

Translated by Spike151 written by Záyin Dáleth Villavicencio for Michoacan 3.0

Castillo says no longer a need to hunt Tuta... Michoacán is now secure

A little more than six months after the creation of the Fuerza Rurales, this Sunday, members of this Corporation originating in Apatzingan, Uruapan and Los Reyes, announced the revival of the movement of self-defense forces (Autodefensas/AD) in Michoacán.

With road blockades in Uruapan, Apatzingán, Huetamo and other locations, the inhabitants of at least five municipalities of Michoacán, announced that: "Will be taking up arms by genuine autodefensas (self-defence) groups".

In Apatzingan, members of Fuerza Rurales Michoacán, retook their white t-shirts, burned their credentials from the Fuerza Rurales and withdrew official decals from their cars, to re-badge as "self-defence groups".

Places where they have declared the break with the State and federal governments are those where last may the Fuerza Rurales model was established , the brainchild of Commissioner for safety and the development of Michoacán Alfredo Castillo Cervantes.

In a statement, released through the Facebook page by Valor por Michoacán, members of self-defense groups considered that Alfredo Castillo failed in Michoacán and requested his resignation.

Here is part of the release:
We will return to take up arms by genuine AUC because our trust in the Government was a mistake.

We gave them a vote of confidence, and they have been hard on the heels of Servando Gómez Martínez and their place lieutenants who are still missing.

Also the cartels in Michoacán called Knights Templar (CT/Caballeros Templarios), Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG); Los Viagras or La Familia Michoacana (LFM) among others that still have control over Michoacan,  leaving clear that kidnapping, murders and robberies have not only continued but have increased.

Therefore, Commissioner Castillo have done nothing to improve matters, we request that you to resign and leave the genuine autodefensas (self-defense) ,to clean Michoacán since the Security Plan of Commissioner Castillo has failed in all respects in Michoacán.

Unfortunately, as in any armed movement there will be people of organized crime that are entrenched ( H3 ) and want to take advantage of this situation, for which we must recognize that in the movement there is both good and bad; We are mostly good ,but there will always be infiltrators.

Also we demand the immediate release of Dr. Mireles and the self-defense forces prisoners unjustly imprisoned, that his only crime was to defend his State from organized crime, with an inept and absent Government Security Model for the State.
In Michoacán we give the mother of promises that Los Pueblos ( the villages ) are in charge! If there is no response in the next few hours by authorities we are going to paralyze all of the Michoacán State.

Pepe reports:

Valor Por Michoacán is reporting that legitimate AD's, from areas to the south, arrived in Apatzingán seeking to eliminate Los Viagras. In a post around midnight.

"For safety we could not give prior notice, but at approximately 8:00 PM (Sunday night) genuine AD's entered  Apatzingan. We are looking through Apatzingán, street by street, for cartel members of  Los Viagras, and we will go for them in Pinzandaro and Uruapan, too, at the proper time."

Posted earlier in the day on VPM:

"The Fuerza Rural (FR) from Apatzingán who burned their uniforms, saying they wanted to reactivate the AD's, are well known to be members of Los Viagras. At this time they are fleeing because genuine AD's are going for them.... Everything indicates that the cartel of Los Viagras has broken ties with the government (with the Commissioner Castillo), and now the state government is trying to disarm them. The response of Los Viagras was the highway blockages, but unfortunately there are also good people mixed together, as Hipolito Mora said:

"Michoacán is fucked - is worse off than before ..."

Last night Castillo met with the protesting FR/Viagras. They lifted the roadblocks. This morning Castillo said in an interview that all those who burned their uniforms (Viagras) are immediately fired from the FR.

What's going on?
It might be the complaints against the extortion and killings by Los Viagras, dressed as FR, got so bad that even Castillo had to act.

1. The FR identified in my post on nurse Erika's murdered and flayed body in Uruapan, was interviewed by the state AG, but he was released because they said there wasn't enough evidence to hold him. This ignited a great storm in the state, even after the huge marches initially following the discovery of Erika's body.

2. During the debate in the Mexican Senate Committee on Justice considering the Amnesty Law for the 400 AD's jailed from Michoacán, Senators pushing the law made very strong denunciations of Castillo and the actions of the FR in Michoacán. "Cocoa" Calderon (PAN), the sister of the former President, called the FR "criminals in uniform terrorizing the state."

This may have caused Castillo to begin action to neutralize some elements of Los Viagra in the FR, causing the reactions seen yesterday.

Castillo now concedes Los Viagras were a part of Rurales (FR)

Castillo is now conceding members of Los Viagras, the Sierra Santana brothers, were illegally part of the FR.  He's trying to say that the attempts to now disarm them and kick them out of the FR is because today, yes, today, December 15, 2014 is the day that was agreed on (when?, how?, who?) that the Viagra-led "Super Tuta Hunters" would lose their "legal" authority to act under the FR.

Then he prattles some nonsense about how there's no longer a need to hunt La Tuta because everything is A.OK in Michoacán.

So, he's saying these illegal, criminal members of the FR, are now really illegal, and to stay in the FR, they must go through all the testing, etc. and abide by the rules.
That's enough Mr. President!

  1. Having lived here in Mexico for a number of years, I have come to understand that there is a law written. But if you wish to practice it you have to pay for some lawyer to enforce it!!!! If the opposition has more money you lose!!!!
How the hell can a normal Mexican live in a situation that favours the well off,. The only solution is for local good people to fight for there dignity and honor, like the people of michocan

  2. Another clossal mess.. Castillo, ADs, FRs, CJNG, CT... sounds like a civil war in the works?
Viagras being the 'cartel of choice' by the Fed goes to show how far things have gone down hill.
Is this when the real fight begins?

  3. It's a huge relief to see that the courage of so many citizens is still strong. But this will not have any more success than the last autodefensa movement did. The government will step in and disarm them slowly and they will quietly disappear. Too many citizens in Michoacan still trust the government and the Templarios.

  7. Great news! Hope may be returning to Michoacan! Law and order cannot be imposed from the top down in Mexico. It can only come from the people themselves! Viva el pueblo decente y muy valiente de Michoacan!

  8. When states turn into that mess right under the governors nose, the governor is part of the problem for not doing the job correctly. Maybe cause of lack of ability or maybe cause it doesn't care (working for personal gains & for his associates). If he doesn't fix the problem he should be removed immediately by any means. Before that place turns into a war zone

  18. I wonder if El Chanda who was rescued from Los Viagras by El Americano in Apatzingan made his cousin El Cenizo sympathetic towards his new friends. El Cenizo then might have persuaded La Tuta, El Tena and El Quinini to finally align themselves with El Americano and his cohorts.

  22. The way I see things in Mexico, all the ingredients are coming together little by little and becoming ripe for a revolution. The people are angry just waiting for any little spark to ignite the flames against Mexico's government. I vision Mexico's government on the brink of being overthrown. They see it too. Perhaps that is why they locked up Dr. Mireles as the only person with real balls in Mexico.

Liberen a Dr. Mireles! La última esperanza para Michoacán.

  25. Castillo makes no sense!!! Its no longer a priority to go after Tuta? What the fuck? Isn't Tuta the biggest cartel leader of Michoacan? The same state he was sent to supposedly fix by EPN? Or shall I say make sure corruption continues as normal? You know illegal mines, tree de-forestation, and Lazaro Cardenas contraband! This is lunacy at its height! He expects us to believe that bullshit! The good people of the AD need to cleanse itself of all criminal elements the sooner the better! Castillo is on his last legs! The mess he has created is about to blow up in his face! He is also partially to blame for the murder of that young girl because of his complicity with organized crime! I don't know how he is able to sleep at night! He is on the wrong side of history and will one day have to answer to God just like all of us!

  26. The citizens of Michoacan unanimously have voted to fire your ass Castillo so pack your bags, and burn your uniform!

  27. The problem isn't that the cartels exist and that the government is corrupt, the problem is that so many of the regular citizens believe the government (including Castillo...and, let's face it, Tuta) and the Templarios (including Tuta...and, let's face it, Castillo) are the good guys. The less gullible you are when Tuta says "we are here to take care of the people", the faster Mexico's security will improve.
