"I feel like a pendejo" says Hipólito upon court decision for formal arrest

The first criminal court judge of Morelia, Michoacan, ordered a formal arrest of Hipólito Chavez Mora, founder of AUC, and currently commander for the federally created police agency ‘Michoacán Rurales Fuerzas’.

“I feel like a dumb asshole, I do not understand how this decision can be made, how can we be imprisoned if we were attacked?”said Mora from prison.   He also called on the army to protect his supporters in La Ruana, as many are being chased from Ruana and their homes, by the same people who continue to threaten and stalk them.  Others have taken their families and fled. 

He refused to answer the question if he thought the move was a political vendetta.When asked if turning himself in was a bad decision, he said “no, I do things the right way, but I asked that justice be done.  Perhaps feeling the worse just ahead, he stressed that what would be sad is “if the others (Americano) would be set free”.

Following the disclosure of the detention order for Hipólito Mora and 26 other members of the AUC of La Ruana,  their attorney or record, Eduardo Quintero Madrigal, described the decision;

 “this fucking thing is not justice, this is fucking bullshit”.

He said he was notified of the decision this morning, and that he immediately notified Mora and the others.

The attorney said this is an example of injustice and how across the country the legal system is coerced and influenced by “outside interests”. 

Quintero is the same attorney that defended Mora, after his arrest last year following the first attack by Americano.   Americano was not arrested or incarcerated at that time.

Eduardo Quintero, attorney for  Hipólito Mora, says that the founder of the self-defense group and 26 should go free, after this Saturday deadline for their legal status is determined. "We (hope) that tomorrow the 27 people will be released tomorrow  at 12 days deadline and  the order of formal freedom is rendered, he said in an interview with Radio Formula. 

He was asked; “Without charges?”,   "Of course, no charges", was his reply.

The attorney contends, that Mora and his group, who are in the Mil Cumbres prison, were only defending themselves in  the attack last December 16 in La Ruana, where 11 people died. Further saying, Mora was in his domicile when he was attacked after months of threats.

Human Rights Commission Meets With Americano

Meanwhile, the man accused of being behind the attack on Mora, which resulted in the death of Mora’s son,  Mora’s nemesis; Luis Antonio “Simon” Torres, better known as “el Americano”, had visitors on Friday, The Human Rights Commission.

Alfredo Castillo, Security commissioner, tweeted on his twitter account a photo of the visit.  Americano,  his hand-picked commander in the federal generated police group Rurales Fuerzas, and the other 9 men arrested with Americano had a face to face meeting with the commission.

The staff of the State Human Rights Commission of Michoacán, inspected, and  reviewed the conditions under which they were arrested and are being held in the prison of Mil Cumbres.  The commission also interviewed the men at length.

On December, 31^st Americano and his men gave their preliminary statements, which is the first step in the criminal process.

Castillo said all the protocols to safeguard Americano’s individual rights had been complied with.

It was not reported by Castillo, nor the Human Rights Commission,  if the commission took the photographs below, into consideration, while determining  that protocols had been met.
