Salma Karrum, 64, former Mayor of Patzcuaro, arrested in August for alleged ties to the Caballeros Templarios cartel,  has died.

The Ministry of State Security said the former mayor had requested house arrest,  because of declining health due to a degenerative disease that she has suffered from for over five years.  In a statement the spokesman , said the death was due to hemorrhagic shock.

She was incarcerated in 'David Franco Rodriguez' prison (Mil Cumbres) but due to her condition, prison authorities said authorities were considering a house request application.    Authorities stated;
"In the midst of this process,  to avoid a complication to her physical condition, for the past month, at the request of  her family, Karrum Cervantes  was cared for under the supervision of the prison authorities, in a private clinic in the Michoacán capital ".

The former Municipal President was being held from August in the prison of Mil Cumbres, accused of alleged links to the Templarios cartel and its leader La Tuta.  In August a video and photographs circulated where Karrum appeared at a meeting with representatives of the cartel and La Tuta himself.

Also attending the meeting with La Tuta, was the former Mayor of Huetamo, Dalia Santana, who was arrested. Karrum won the election of Patzcuaro in 2011, when the PRD accused the PRI had been supported by organized crime during election campaigns.

She was formally was accused of extortion, organized crime and drug crimes.

  1. Anyone hear of a big shoot out in Guadalajara? Seems a federal police convoy was ambushed killing 5 officers, 3 cartel scum and some innocents. Can someone find out? Fox news mentioned a massacre of police.

  2. This woman was not a big criminal. She was just trying to find out why a family member was killed when she was videoed with La Tuta. She was a victim of the political system as that is the way things are done.
    Why are there not more videos from La Tuta?
    Municipal presidents plunder the towns treasury and build on their private property with funds and material meant for the public, such as in a neighboring municipal.

    1. That is untrue!! She was deeply in collusion. What you are talking about is the meeting without Tuta where she asked about the killing of her SIL "What did he do, we wanted to know what mistake we made"

      but then the video with Tuta surfaced which was prior to the killing. don't make excuses for these scumbags. you spit in the face of honest Mexicans. everyone has a choice

    1. She gets fucken house arrest while dr mireles get stuck in the slammer. Theyre both old too so whats the difference?

    2. The difference is this: Dr. Mireles wanted to go the straight and narrow way and is a threat to the cartels as well as the government, while Karrum wanted to work with the cartels. No I don't feel sorry for her one bit.

    3. The difference is, Dr Mireles was mas guapo, he was trying to steal Simon Boulevard's place in history and conquer all of LatinAmerica, with a chicken leg, while alfredo el Castillo de kagada and his cuban sexo-terapista santera 'adviser' went hungry, and only government aligned madafakas can be perras callejeras...

  6. No one should get house arrest or sympathy for declining health. They should of never been involved in corruption or crime in the 1st place. No sympathy here.

      --They have sovereign impunity laws to get by, including impunity heavens like harvard U, yale U, Ireland U, and fuck U, all well advised and supplied by the US...
      -- long gone are the righteous days of righteousness when some US politicians knew right from wrong, at least to dictaminate that while someone was a sanababitch, at least he was our sanababitch...
      --And when a conservative bully sell-out president would not stay bought, teddy R sure made people cry, today's conservatives sell out for life, or else...
