Peeved Mexicans: “U.S. Agents will be armed as though they own the place”

By Lucio R. Borderland Beat- some material used from Luengas Noticias and WSJ

A then  president elect, Enrique Peña Nieto took a firm position of not allowing armed foreign agents.

At the time he said;

“I resolutely do not support the presence of armed U.S. agents in Mexico, but would consider allowing the United States to instruct Mexico's military training in counterinsurgency tactics.”

That was then.

Now, the Mexican Senate has approved the "initiative"of President Enrique Peña Nieto,  that would allow foreign agents to carry weapons within the territory of Mexico, arguing they contribute to tourism and immigration and customs control.

The representatives of the PRI political party, along with  the PAN and PVEM (green party),  gave the green light to the legislation, which senators of the PRD and PT (labor party) opposed.

Mexican Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Meade defended the measure, arguing that will contribute to greater integration of the region of North America.

However many Mexican’s and leaders alike, are not only leery about the initiative, some are damn  right peeved and outraged.  Like Senator Manuel Bartlett.

Taking the floor the senator’s prophecy is that the names of the senators who make up this term will go down in history "as an abject Senate that fulfilled the commands of the neighboring foreign power to flood our country of armed foreign agents".

U.S. Agents disguising themselves as Mexican Navy personnel

In a Wall Street Journal article published in 2013 and updated in November 2014, there was the following:

"U.S. Justice Department personnel are disguising themselves as Mexican Marines to take part in armed raids against drug suspects in Mexico, according to people familiar with the matter, an escalation of American involvement in battling drug cartels that carries significant risk to U.S. personnel. Both the U.S. and Mexican governments have acknowledged in the past that American law-enforcement agencies operate in Mexico providing intelligence support to Mexican military units battling the cartels. The countries have described the U.S. role as a supporting one only.
In reality, said the people familiar with the work, about four times a year the U.S. Marshals Service sends a handful of specialists into Mexico who take up local uniforms and weapons to hide their role hunting suspects, including some who aren’t on a U.S. wanted list. They said agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Administration play a supporting role, in similarly small numbers."

The attack
"The risks became clear on July 11, 2012 when Mexican Marines and a handful of U.S. Marshals personnel dressed as Mexican Marines were fired on as they walked through a remote field in Sinaloa state. One American was shot and wounded, and in the gunfight that followed, more than a half-dozen suspected cartel soldiers were killed, according to people familiar with the incident. It is unclear whether U.S. Marshals personnel shot anyone.
Members of the FBI, DEA and Marshals Service met with a group of Mexican Marines in preparation for a Friday raid. The goal was to apprehend a senior member of Los Mazatlecos, a gang of enforcers with ties to the Beltran Leyva drug cartel.
A handful of Marshals specialists dressed themselves as Mexican Marines and took Marines weapons. As they and the Mexican Marines set off on foot, a small plane flown by a U.S. Marshals employee kept an eye on the target site, advising colleagues on the ground who in turn guided those on foot. DEA and FBI personnel remained a mile or so away in an armored vehicle, observing and advising.

The men walked through a field toward the site. As they approached a line of bushes, hidden gunmen opened fire. A U.S. Marshals employee with the rank of inspector was shot in the arm and fell. A Mexican Marine rushed to carry him to safety and was also hit. Then another shot struck the American in the torso.
After the firefight, the wounded American was airlifted to a hospital in Culiacán, where he was kept under guard until he could be moved to a hospital in San Antonio."

If you are paying attention to the article you would know that these armed agents will be assisting Mexican Customs at specific places. What if EPN begged for the assistance because of horrible tourist numbers? If it was up to me I would ban all Americans from traveling to Mexico unless you are visiting family. If you have no family there you can't travel there. Just deal with the facts and not the speculations.

    6. Writing about Mexicans hating is funny, given the hatred towards Mexico and Mexicans in the US.

The reality is that the US does not send in armed people to other countries to help those countries. They only do it for their own benefit. That includes WWII, by the way, in which the US sent its troops to secure Western Europe once it was clear that the Germans were defeated by the Soviet Union. The US wanted to be sure the Soviets did not liberate Western Europe of Nazis and were constrained only to Eastern Europe.

Since WWII, the US has not provided any assistance to any country that they destroyed in war. Look at the disastrous mess they made of Iraq and the instability they helped foster in the middle east. The only help they gave Iraq was with the oil business, which has fostered US energy interests.

Of course, the US is not going to release classified satellite data and on-the-ground data, but this has been going on since 2010 with Judicial Watch. It is in part a fund raising tool they use. They are not a credible source, given they make stuff up. Hernandez repeating this doesn't make it so. Will she give actual sources other than Judicial Watch?

The government of Mexico dismisses and categorically denies each of the statements made today by the organization Judicial Watch on the alleged presence of ISIS's operating cells throughout the border region, particularly at Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua - El Paso, Texas.

      • The relevant authorities operating in the region have also confirmed the nonexistence of these activities with their US counterparts, with whom they will continue to work closely and exchange information at our common border.

Soon we will have no more extraditions they will be cross border kidnappings. No prisoners, the criminals will be shot on sight. Who is going to stop them? The Mexican military? Be thankful they were caught. This is how law enforcement is supposed to work: Catch the agents performing criminal activity & publish the names so its citizens can have better faith in its government.

    3. Do it the US way. Give the government to the corporations. In the US, corporations (mostly media in this particular case) vet the candidates for higher office, like President or Senator, and then decide who is suitable to get serious support in the primaries. (Example: Ron Paul had highest financial support, but once he said that the US had some responsibility for creating conditions for terrorism, he was out of the debates and out of the news and hence, out of the primaries; you must remain within the acceptable box of correct thinking.)

The defense corporations write the DOD and other "defense" related budgets. The banks write the regulations (the last law passed was verbatim from bank to administration memos). All the major laws, budgets and policy, especially foreign policy, are controlled by corporate interests.

In Mexico, the government is controlled by plutocrats and local caudillos. The US way is to replace the plutocrats by corporations. It is called corporatism, a form of fascism completely different from plutocracy. Totally compatible with "democracy" in the sense of voting (though not in the sense of citizen control of government). Of course, there is some corporate control taking shape in Mexico with the influx of major automobile manufacturers, who are shaping some localities with, among other things, increased security.

For the last several months Mexico has been crying for help from the U.S. to the United Nations. It seems it’s only the ones who don’t want to see a real change in their country that keeps complaining on this board.

Mexicans have even taken this drug filth to other countries, but don’t take responsibility for their actions.

Even if there were no drugs at all, Mexico would have major problems, because many of its citizens participate in crimes apart from drugs. Murder, extortion, stealing, carjacking, fracking, and other crimes from individuals as well as entire families are doing unlawful things. The Zeta cartel took things to another level when they started extorting the individual who did crimes. Things are now totally out of control, due to active participation in criminality from its citizens.
