A Federal Judge from the United States sentenced Jesus Gutierrez Guzman to 16 years in prison and ordered him to pay a 10,000 dollar fine for trying to extend the business of the Sinaloa Cartel to Europe and the United States.

Once the 54 year old Gutierrez Guzman has finished his sentence in a United States Federal prison, he will be deported to Mexico, according to the District Prosecutor of New Hampshire, Donald Feith, in charge of the prosecution.

The cousin of the Sinaloan Capo was detained in Madrid in 2012 by the Spanish Police and the Office of the FBI in Boston, when he tried to extend to Europe, the dominion of the violent Sinaloa Cartel, led by El Chapo, who wanted to utilise Spain as a base.

Gutierrez Guzman and his three accomplices, all Mexican nationals, were arrested after trying to arrange the shipping of a container to the Port of Algeciras, on the South coast of Spain, the container had 346 kilos of cocaine inside of high purity originating in Brazil, detailed a note from the Prosecutor of New Hampshire.

In October of 2014, Gutierrez Guzman confessed to having tried to implement a plan to extend the influence of the Sinaloa Cartel and distribute up to a ton of Cocaine in the United States, especially in the North of New England, where allegedly they wanted to establish a base of operations.

The three accomplices with whom Guzman was detained are Rafael Humberto Celaya Valenzuela, Samuel Zazueta Valenzuela and Jesus Gonzalo Palazuelos Soto, and  all of them plead guilty and confessed to having participated in the intent to expand the lines of drug distribution of the Sinaloa Cartel in South America, Europe, Canada and the United States, according to the FBI.

The FBI Agents unmasked the capos in what the call "Operation Dark Waters", thanks to some meetings they had with the accused, passing themselves off as members of a European organized crime group.

The meetings were in Madrid, Miami, Boston, Portsmouth and Newcastle and were captured on video, a form that the FBI of Boston could use to produce images and audio for the Judiciary that incriminated the accused.

In the open case of the United States against the cousin of El Chapo figured another seven accused, among them the narco trafficker himself, who escaped for the second time from a Maximum Security Mexican Prison, through a 1.5 kilometer tunnel.
