I am not Catholic, but this story made me think Pope Francis must be a good guy. I think readers, especially those from Mexico, might enjoy this little light heartedness among the all the stories about Mexico's problems.
Pope asks "if there will be tequila"
Pope Francis has been promised “lots of tequila” when he pays an official visit to Mexico February 12-17.
While
crossing St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican and greeting pilgrims New
Year’s Day, the pope was greeted by a Mexican visitor who extended a
welcome in advance of the papal visit.
“Papa, we are waiting for you in Mexico,” the visitor shouted as the pope walked by.
Francis’ response was quick. “With or without tequila?” he asked with a smile.
“With lots of tequila,” assured the Mexican pilgrim, drawing laughs from the crowd.
The video has reportedly gone viral on social media.
The pope’s visit will include official and religious activities in Mexico City and the states of México, Chiapas, Michoacán and Chihuahua.
He will meet with President Enrique Peña Nieto and other officials, celebrate Mass in the Basilica of Guadalupe and another with indigenous communities in San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas, among several other events.

I just always wanted to know why he wears a Kippa .
ReplyDeleteIt's a Zucchetto.
DeleteJack
Thanks for the info.
DeleteEver thought that maybe the Christian crusades was just a form of enslaving people and robbing them of gold?
You do know no one knows when Jesus was born? You do know CHRIST MASS is a pagan holiday to worship spirits? You do know that it was added to religion by the Catholic church because every one was doing it any way? That's not how religion is supposed to work.
Thanks for the 411 on the kippa
Thanks for adding a bit of extra colour to the kippah vs. Zuchetto debate.
DeleteJack
Jackass is back, Or is this another jack?
DeleteExtraordinarily lame.
ReplyDeleteim glad the pope is visiting chihuahua
ReplyDeletechihuahua is really heated up
lol nice! Now that wasn't expected lol Salud!
ReplyDeleteTequila y mota!!!
ReplyDeleteSaludos desde Mexico City!!
What does this pointless story have anything to do with Marco news?
ReplyDeleteThis place has really gone down hill as of late.
It's not always obvious much how the Pope is revered in Catholic countries; this particular chap (Francis) happens to come across as a friendly, caring and accessible leader. His opinions certainly carry weight in political circles and I believe he cares a great deal about the current climate of extreme violence in Mexico. I'm not particularly religious, I just notice how this guy seems to be really popular with Latin-American Catholics?
DeleteNo but its about Mexico and like DD said it was off topic but a light story,a breather from the other heavy stories.[like a commercial break without the ads].
DeleteYou mean the same Guy that said Charlie Hebdo shouldn't make fun of religion? Fuck him.
ReplyDeleteFuck you. He presches peace. What does your punk ass preach? Show some damn respect you imbecile.
Delete@5:39 I think I hear trump calling you back. You're an idiot.
DeleteWho dont like tequila lol. God bless this guy we should all respect each others religion the world would be a better place.... Saludos a Mexico
ReplyDeleteim Atheist and I admire this guy
ReplyDeleteThat is the way of the lord, tiatro works wonders on the simple minded, wait until the circus arrive...
Delete--hey, maybe the pope makes a miracle, or 43...
O that's too cute.Hes got a good sense of humour.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool! Nice post DD. El Nemesis-
ReplyDeleteSorry if I may offend some people but religion is another way of manipulating people... What has the cothlic religion done for the poor Mexican people ? Other then collect money from them. They hardly speak out about anything going on this world....
ReplyDeleteAnd you think people treat each other better without religion? I am sure religion was invented because people get out of control without higher level authority. Cartels are a great example of that. Priests in Mexico are pretty outspoken, and have been murdered.
Delete9:58am You're sure? You've never studied history.
DeleteWhats he going to do about the terror in Mexico. He won't say a word. Mean while our daughters are getting raped and killed. Our families are being kidnapped and killed. Hey Help the innocent people of Mexico Not this dumb President. A man of God "safe our people." Defend our Priest who stand up to the terror. How about being a Pope Hidlago.
ReplyDeleteDd is pagan i think
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this anti-Christ will recieve the injury prophesied in the bible and kik off the end times in Mexico
ReplyDeleteIf this Pope is the anti Christ to you I can only imagine what you consider a "Christian"??? Your as dumb as a mule and twice as ugly!
DeleteCatholic and Christian not the same thing. Do u ever use your brain. Catholics made Christianity but has different customs and viewpoints.
DeleteStop watching Hannity 7:43 you have become an ignorant fool. Of course we are Christians. "different customs" since Catholics "made Christianity", all others who came after and altered "viewpoints' must not be Christians.
DeleteDumb! a Christian is a person who has received Christian baptism or is a believer in Jesus Christ and his teachings.
I would say it is "u" that never uses his brain but that is most likely a futile exercise.
Only catholics are christians, the others are communist cults --but most members just want to get rich and I just want to meet religious women...
DeleteI hate going to catholic church in Mexico, I come out feeling like shit. lol those priest are way to serious and make women and even men cry. Don't like it, I rather listen to John Osteen every once in a while at least he is positive... real spit
ReplyDeleteWow borderland beat really sucks now! You guys post something new like once a week and they're the worst stories
ReplyDelete9:19 You suck, because you never explain WHY THE FACK BB SUCKS.
Delete--i've been waiting for your brainy explanations for a looong time, and nothing, just the whining...
--I don't know why, but you remind me of Monica Lewinsky at work
One begs to differ. BB certainly does not suck. Go away, if you don't like it. Nobody forces you to read BB, buster.
DeleteLovin me some BB right now. Good stuff here.
DeleteWould all these psychopathic cartel thugs ever try to hurt the pope?
ReplyDeleteNo. They pray to la Virgin de Guadalupe, de Fatima, el Niño Jesus, Malaverde, and so forth. Yes, it's odd, killers saying prayers, imo, it's more out of superstition than anything, else. The Cardinal getting assassinated during Amado Carrillo Fuentes'days is a multi faceted story steeped in narco politica. Some have it the Cardinal was in the wrong place at the wrong time; others said it was a direct hit on him. Frankie is the people's pope, he will be fine in Mexico.
DeleteNo same mafia different names.
DeleteI hope the Pope goes down there and pulls EPN around by the ear like a little schoolboy for doing a lousy job.
ReplyDeleteEl Papa could threaten EPN with getting excommunicated if he doesn't resign from the presidency!
DeleteSi les dijo el padre a los mexicanos mis queridos hijos inquense los voy a persinar
ReplyDeleteChapo captured couldn't be
ReplyDeleteChapo guzman captured in mochis sinaloa confirmed!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteChapo guzman captured in mochis sinaloa along with cholo Ivan confirmed all over Mexican news
ReplyDeleteI read Mexico is paying huge amount of money for his visit, but Mexico is all about religion. My aunt used to get a help from some political dude but because he's paying to go see el papa they are not longer giving her or the other families that help.
ReplyDeleteTickets to see the Pope are gratis, you have until the 16th to sign up to attend the papal mass. Look for political prisoners to be released at Pope Francis' request...VIVA MIRELES FREE CEMEI
