Crowne Plaza Acapulco, hotel of choice for Federal Police |
The criminals there have achieved the distinction of making Acapulco the third most dangerous city in the world
The response of the EPN administration to the violence is also a tragedy. But the spin they put on the horrible situation in Acapulco is so outrageous and ludicrous it almost makes you laugh. That is the reason for the title to this article.
All is calm in Acapulco despite 35 murders in last 8 days
The Federal Police commissioner was accused this week of confusing Acapulco with Disneyland after he said all was calm in the resort destination despite a wave of assassinations.
A day later a state official with the Citizens’ Movement party urged
that Galindo (Federal Police Commissioner) be shown a map indicating where Acapulco is located so as
to avoid confusing it with Disneyland.
“The commissioner came to
tell us something that has no relation to the bloody reality that
citizens must face every day,” said Adri谩n Wences Carrasco.
In the past eight days, 35 people have been assassinated in tourist
areas and other parts of the city. But Galindo (the Federal Police Commissioner) said on Thursday that
Acapulco was “calm.”. To explain, he pointed out that the Federal Police
measures its success rate in the city by hotel occupancy rates and not
by crime statistics.
“The signal being sent outside the city is that one can come to Acapulco, a calm Acapulco . . . where federal forces are ready to ensure a thriving and peaceful Easter Week.”.
But for hotel owners, Enrique Galindo might well be living in an imaginary world himself, one in which bills can be ignored for months on end.

For several hoteliers, there is another reality to be faced: the Federal Police has still not paid accommodation and food bills for officers deployed to Acapulco and other cities in Guerrero. The force stopped paying its debts 20 months ago and now owes some 32 million pesos in Acapulco alone.
One hotel, the four-star Crowne Plaza in Miguel Alem谩n, will no longer provide its services to the Federal Police while another has closed because of the unpaid bills, among other reasons.
Money is also owing to hotels in Zihuatanejo, Chilpancingo, Taxco and Iguala.
Hotel owners met Thursday with federal officials, when they were given an assurance that part of the debt would be cleared up next week.
If the money is forthcoming, police officers can continue to enjoy accommodation such as that provided by the Alba Suites, which is not exactly a bunker. The hotel has its own beach, five swimming pools, a Jacuzzi and Acapulco’s biggest water slide.
In contrast, the Army, which has also been deployed to augment security in the city, sleeps in temporary camps.
Galindo defended the use of the hotels by saying his officers needed to rest “under the best conditions” if they were to be expected to perform their duties to the best of their ability.

That's kinda what huge criminal gangs do . Go in take over and take advantage . Obviously Galindo is some kind of low life . Carrying these asshole for 20 months ? Shameful ! Oh but wait this dead beat Galindo obviously has no shame
ReplyDeleteOk DD.. What's are they supposed to say? "Do not come to Acapulco"?
ReplyDeleteThat used to be a big vacation destination, mi cousin had his honey moon there in the early 2000s..
Yes its worse now but so is every city now a days
How about the truth you imbicel.
Delete@10:34 It might be fine for the Acapulco Director of Tourist Development to say "Our hotel occupancy rate is 87% and we have many federal forces ready to ensure a thriving and peaceful Easter Week."
DeleteBut for the Federal Police Commissioner to say "we measure our success against crime by hotel occupancy rates, not crime statistics" is a stupid statement.
When you see the politicians and businessmen, artists and televisos walk on the street without Private Security of the best kind, then you can go anywhere in mexico...

ReplyDeleteIn theory ....yes
DeleteBut a number of political actions would have to occur before that could happened, and the likelihood of that happening based on conditions of today, is pretty much nil.
Mexico is an independent sovereign nation, they would have to request the help of the U.S., and then the U.S. would have to deem it necessary for not only the security of Mexico, but more importantly that of the U.S.
Remember, in many aspects Mexico is our partner, and a strong one in other elements, such as economic. They are number 2 as the country importing the most US goods and services, over 150B double that of China.
As for Tamps, it happens because it is allowed to happen. Since I established roots in Mx 11 years ago next door in Coahuila, this type of terrorism has existed in Tamps. the warring is different there. All levels of gob are in bed with cartels. they look the other way. News blackout since 2010, death counts by independent orgs gone since 2009.
and the beat goes on
The mexican terrorists and drug traffickers are the lower ranks of the amerikkkan globalizers of private property, and the suffering they impose on the people is to help them be worthy of God on their way to heaven, for the suffering people was invented communism and socialism, and work, slave work...

--Like all the banana republics that get mined, mexico keeps the shaft, because it can't get trucked away, but you can't always put the crime victims there, the mine shaft is company owned, so leave the death in shallow graves or on the sidewalks...
Mexico is pretty because investors get to exploit the mexicans all day long 24/7, and that includes "highly qualified technicians" and the lowest gramo maruchanero, "it worked for China" but it ain't 'ganna' work for mexico, mexico is just a staging base for the chinese conquerors of the paper 馃惎 tiger.

DeleteWhat a joke! The Mexican government doesn't even pay it's employees hotel bill.Wonder if the cops get paid or are they expected to steal or extort someone innocent?
ReplyDeleteThe commissioner gets to the money before the hotel owners do, it is all commission for him...
Delete--The hotel owners deserve no less...
--the army camps in tent parks, because they have not been to France for their training, or not all of them have been trained at the School of the Assassins.
The best thing that could calm this state down from all this is if cjng sends the cartels that control this state a message with a dead body i bet the state would go from 100 to 0 real quick because i know cjng is in there but i guess that the smaller cartels know and dont mess with them
ReplyDeleteWtf...you are dillusional and stupid. What makes you think Cjng is so big and scary they can simply send one dead body down to Acapulco and scare all those other cartels into submission. The thugs have been down there fighting and killing in Acalpulco for years, you think they give 2 shts about Cjng? All the big cartels are fighting for Acapulco including CDS. Freeking moron you are so clueless its embarrassing 1:55. Get out of here.
DeleteHaha you act like cds has ever taken land from rival cartel all cds does is cause problems with other cartels but in the end they alway fail just like with juarez they dont know how to finish what they started on the other hand cjng has taken much of the land they have from cds los templarios zetas and milenio so im pritty sure if cjng would send that state a message most of the crimes would stop
DeleteCJNG have their hands full at the moment but unlike the CDS they are smart enough to not bite off more than they can chew. They will enter Acapulco when the time is right for their cartel. Right now there are too many beefs to settle. They will wait until the opposing groups in Acapulco are at their weakest to make a move.
DeleteEnrique Francisco Galindo Ceballos el comisionado, jefe, director de la polesia federal no sabe mas que mamar y dar tope, y es zeta from the start..?
ReplyDeleteWow! "We demand pampering or we can duty we swore to uphold " LMFAO . . .never imagined that corruption would steep to these levels! Mexican Government you are brazen and beyond shame! You will no longer at least "pretend" to have honor or some type of dignity, you are no different than criminal organizations in fact you are much worse! Amazing
ReplyDeleteAll is calm in Tamps. also. Amazing
ReplyDelete6:01 Cemeteries and graveyards tend to be peaceful, you're welcome, investors conference rooms, I mean boiler rooms, are boiling.
DeleteThe entire story is this:
ReplyDeleteLast week in Mexico news it was announced that the interior ministry announce it was safe t go to Aca and other key points of Guerrero that suffered flooding.
Blogs and newspapers laughed at that announcement because of the femicide in three cities (incl Iguala, Aca) causing the deaths of 30-40 females per month. and the "other killings" at a steady uptick in numbers.
The announcement was criticized saying, yes you won't drown but you may be slaughtered.
So the gob had to come out and try to salvage face.
they only made it worse
What face chivis...
Delete--by now the mexican government is only trying to save their nalgas...
--la gaviota was sent to put her ass on the line to save epn's from the casa blanca debacle, and now el quike, hahahaaa...
--Arely, murillo karam, virgilio, all are sick and tired of their own BS...
--one thing they can't steal from mexicans is that we make fun of them every time they open their yappers...
--Senator Layda Sansores, bless her BIG MOUTH, always tells the ministers, governors, cabinet members and pe帽a nieto: "...and on what country do all the nice things you come to report and talk about are happening?"
Delete--Because that fairy land they talk about can't possibly be mexico, or in mexico...
Outside of this holiday weekend, from what I saw in Acapulco is there's more police and military than there are tourists. You'd be hard pressed to find a caucasion face anywhere along the main tourist strip, instead just tatted up locals and shady ones at best.
ReplyDeleteLying to civilians is nothing new. I've seen this happen many times over the years as a government employee. Numbers are always glossed over for the benefit of higher ups. Otherwise the ones giving the numbers will become persona non grata come promotion time. So for the most part too many become career soldiers. CAREER being the key word. Another thing you might be reminded of every so often is "Didn't you sign on the dotted line about not being a Conscientious Objector?" - El Sol Perdido
ReplyDelete9:22 you can sign on the dotted line and lie as much as those who swear to uphold the laws of the country and the US Constipation while having already made other plans with the children of Benedict Arnold...and their lobbyists...
DeleteRight, amigo! There is an old book titled "Lying With Statistics" that provides many examples of how one can present data so as to magnify, minimize, or distort phenomenon that has political or economic value to clients.
DeletePercentages, ratios, rates, trends, and charts of all kinds, and "especially" numbers surounded by "biased" rehtoric can serve client's needs.
Serious scientists, of course, know these tricks and are trained to spot them. But lay people may not realize that they are being manipulated when subjected to reports involving numbers.
A reporter can choose to magnify the death of "one" person to be the moral equivalent of 1000 others. For example, many thousands of "Indians" or "Jews" died via genocidal violence, but the emotional and political impact on the public is largely a function of how the stories are presented. One "Diary of Anne Frank" or "Custer's Last Stand" can arouse more human emotion that being told of the deaths of many thousands by starvation and exposure to the elements.
So, be wary of "numbers" when they come from sources with a stake in their presentation. Use your own good judgement as to whether to just glaze over in confusion or boredom (as the reporter may want you to do), or "work" to cull some useful meaning for yourself from the report.
Finally, if you feel that Acapulco is a violent and dangerous place to visit based on reports you respect. Go with this. If you feel otherwise, then go with that. We all have our own subjective worlds by which we deal with numbered type phenomena.

Everything thing is gravy baby come on down to your final destination ikillpulco ...enjoy the beach for a day or two than get your head chopped of at your nearest hut..no need for flippers and wetsuit you're not coming back up to the surface.. Adios
ReplyDelete"Federal Police measures its success rate in the city by hotel occupancy rates and not by crime statistics." Yea right. The occupancy rate may be high because all these dead beat federal police are occupying the rooms.
