Government denies Dr. Mireles Michoacan transfer, calling him "Crazy", "delusional"

Dr. Manuel Mireles, leader of autodefensas of Michoacán, was to be transferred from the Hermosillo Sonora prison where he has been held since his arrest, to Penal de Mil Cumbres in Michoacán.

The EPN government has not only denied the transfer, but as their usual modus operandi, they did not pass up opportunity to disparage and humiliate the beloved doctor.

Dr. Mireles, only wanted an opportunity to be closer to his family.  He rarely receives visits from family, legal team and friends, because of the 1240 miles distance.

Part of the torture that Dr. Mireles has been subjected to while in prison, is emotional.  For example setting the stage for release, a favorable ruling or a transfer, only to have his hopes crushed yet once again.

Federal Government Stated, that Dr, Mireles’ transfer would be “high risk”, since he would have access to “his criminal gang”, completely ignoring Michoacán's ( PRD) Governor’s statement, that he would welcome the transfer and said it represented no risk. The state leaders of PRD and MC have called for the release of Dr. Mireles as a political prisoner.

The most shocking move by the feds in its ruling, it cites a psychological report, created about Dr. Mireles’ mental health titled:

 “El Loco Mireles” (Madman Mireles)

The government should conduct psychological testing on Alfredo Castillo, EPN’s hatchet man brought in to Michoacán, to stop the then successful autodefensas movement.  The man is obsessed with Dr. Mireles, he is still speaking loco about the doctor, although Castillo has long gone from Michoacán.  

Castillo said, “Mireles is a very dangerous man, he is mentally unstable, he not only wanted to control Mexico, but also wanted to control all of Latin America.”

Now THOSE are the words of a true madman!

It is highly doubtful; Dr. Mireles will be released during a PRI administration, especially this PRI administration.  He would have much better chances with another political party at the helm.  If he lives to see that day, he has been denied good health care treatment causing his diabetes and high blood pressure to become uncontrollable. 

In the disgusting report, Dr. Mireles is judged as being;

“Difficult with emotional relationships, ego-centrism, rigidity of character, fantasy proneness, overestimating their intelligence, uncontrollable impulsive desire to overstate, manifesting a social and intellectual ego, in search of recognition and empowerment, with high criminal capacity.”

The report also states that “the subject is a subject social activist who allegedly served as leader of the self - defense groups in the state of Michoacán, who is considered a figure with great social and political impact on the entity that violates the stability and security.

Castillo entered into an agreement with the autodefensas and asked that they register weapons even those for the exclusive use of the armed forces of the country, and submit to several tests, such as doping, clinical, medical and psychological.  An agreement that was reneged on.

Although he was not carrying a weapon when arrested, his guards were.

Castillo went on to disarm all autodefensas,  tried to annihilate the movement, and eventually put in place a citizens police group, called Fuerzas Rurales, led by known criminals and suspected cartel leaders.

The Fifth District Judge can still change this decision, if the government of Michoacán agrees to receive José Manuel Mireles in the Criminal Mil Cumbres.

Since his arrest on the 27th June, 2014, Dr. Mireles has not had his day in court, and has been convicted/sentenced of nothing.

Tragically the man who was the shinning hope of many, may meet his end,  in the way that most outspoken social advocates do in Mexico, if not silenced in the streets, then silenced behind bars.
