Mexico Weighs House Arrest for Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo

Posted by DD republished from ABC News

 By Mark Stevenson, Associated Press

Mexico's government is studying a request to place imprisoned 86-year-old drug lord Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo under house arrest, an official said Saturday.

Fonseca Carrillo, who is also known as "Don Neto," is considered one of the founders of modern Mexican drug trafficking. He is serving a 40-year sentence for the 1985 slaying of Drug Enforcement Administration agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena.

A federal official who was not authorized to be quoted by name said the government is "analyzing the legal aspects of the possibility" of allowing him to serve out his sentence under house arrest. He is currently being held at a top-security prison in the western state of Jalisco.

Mexican courts have said Fonseca Carrillo is eligible for the program, as are other aged or ill inmates.
His age has been a matter of debate, but most sources believe he was born in 1930.

DD;  As far back as 2008 El Universal reported that Don Neto could hardly walk without groping due to losing his hearing and his eyesight.  He said he was often punished for not following instructions from the guards because he could not hear them.
'On February 26, 2007, by order of a judge entered the Altiplano a recognized criminal otolaryngologist  to perform a study of Mr. Miguel Felix Gallardo , which we can highlight the following:
The clinical diagnosis of 'otolaryngologist' states:
'Miguel Felix Gallardo, for some years suffers from an infection in both ears, which made him lose the ability to hear properly. In one ear he lost its function at 70% and another 50%. Currently used hearing aids to capture sounds a little better ... The most serious aspect of this matter is that the infection could progress to vital areas of your head if not controlled and properly treated.

el Universal also reported that 'Don Neto', who sees near death and therefore  built his tomb-a lavish mausoleum - in Santiago de los Caballeros, Sinaloa, their homeland.

Rafael Caro Quintero, also convicted in Camarena's death, was released by an erroneous judicial ruling in 2013.

Another aging drug lord, Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo, remains in prison in the case.

    1. The first is don neto, the second is mafg, may have been corrected, but if la pinche chaky has been released, her daughter been made a federal senator and her grandson a federal congressman, maybe it is time to set free el padrino and don neto, BUT o ly if they tell the truth about the kidnapping torture and murder of Kiki Camarena and his pilot, and the role of "max gomez" in all of this, that pinche cubano has never been in prison, and he armed all that rigmarole even kiki camarena's.

  3. How can reporters constantly misrepresent images and stories like this. They are always getting the images wrong and mixing one narcos story with another. Its as if they are not even researching or even bothering to be reporters. Makes one appreciate BB with the depth of knowledge WE have about the narco world from the commentors to the bloggers to the guy that even just sends the links, its all valuable and accurate information. And the most important quality is when we are wrong we strive to find the truth. That is what makes BB strong.

    5. For those that end up dead or in a cage probably, probably not... But you should go ask their families, who get to keep their vast real state with all the illicit millions. When they get caught if.. It ever happens, because we know that many, many of them never do. When that happens they have already live their damn lifes. "The law" only likes to go after the small dummy dealer, just to make it look like they are doing their work. Lies.. Lies...

  12. I always wondered if Don Neto was wearing a wig in that first pic?

  13. True that being behind bars socks balls but people like Don Neto, Carne Quintero, Chapo before his first escape. Ran the jails and continued running the business just a lot more discreetly. And yes it was worth rotting in prison because ultimately they did what they did for their families.
