Tijuana: The assassination of an Informant

Excerpt taken from Gente de la Tia Juana
Translated by El Wachito

The assassination of Julian Daniel Corona Maldonado, alias "El Chiquis" a US government informant.

During September 2nd, of 2013, El Chiquis attempted to cross the border of Tijuana into the United States. He was accompanied by a lady that was well known in the social circles of criminal organizations and a couple of friends. They were heading to Las Vegas, Nevada, to assist to the boxing match of Floyd Mayweather vs "Canelo" Alvarez, a fight that resulted a fraud to many Mexicans, however that's another story.

A passenger identified as Cristian Tamayo Lizarraga also died after several armed man shot them from a white Ford Ranger-ZETA
Well, El Chiquis couldn't even watch the fight through a television, because he was detained and arrested at the border. During the interrogation, he accepted to collaborate with information of the structures of drug trafficking organizations in exchange of a reduction in sentence to 3 years of the 15 that he was supposed to spend in jail.

Chiquis snitches on "Los Mazatlecos", from where he was a native and had problems with. He snitches on Saul Loya, known as "El Loya", as the person in charge of the Mazatlan, Sinaloa Plaza and a major smuggler of marijuana through maritime means. He also snitches on "Pulmonero", El gordo Rosario as an important member of the Sinaloan Cartel and several others.

The American government wasn't really interested in them, they wanted people from Culiacan and the ones that "El Chiquis" worked with, they were, La Rana, Aquiles, Los Antrax and Chencho Beltran. Chiquis accepts to cooperate with this information and snitches on all of them.

In the north of the country, they thought that he didn't snitch and as time passes by  "El Changuito Antrax" is detained. Immediately Chiquis is notified of his detention and he requests a Visa for his whole family. He knew that his little theater was going to fall and that's exactly what happened. Changuito fixes his exit with his lawyers and just before leaving jail, his extradition papers arrive.

Everyone though that "El Chino Antrax" snitched on him, however while reading his criminal files he notice that someone who only saw 3 times and never had a work relation with snitched on him, "el Chiquis". The criminal files get to the hands of all the people that he pointed at. Everyone was concerned, he snitched on all the cartels, El Mayo Zambada, Aquiles, La Rana, Changuito, the ones who we already mention in Mazatlan and Tijuana, his friends and collaborator "El Sopas", a closed man to Chencho Beltran.

He pointed El Sopas and La Rana as the major traffickers of marijuana and a link between Chencho and Aquiles. Through La Rana and El Sopas, his declaration was exposed to the people that he snitched on. When they found out of the betrayal, they asked his mother for an explanation, because she spoke to him, however el Chiquis had already made the first move, he got a Visa for all his close family members.

Chiquis denies that he snitch on them, but because of the proof, his denial doesn't last long and he starts a work relation with the group H9, El Dany de Nayarit, who is an enemy of the Sinaloan Cartel. Chiquis knew that he had powerful enemies, Loya was one of them, he had a personal fight with him for the love of a beautiful woman who was a past beauty queen of the Carnaval de Mazatlan.

Their rivalry was so intense, that in several occasions they had fights in nightclubs and restaurants, till El Chiquis was expelled from Mazatlan. The people that he snitch on were anxiously waiting for him to leave Mazatlan.

In October 1st he made it out of jail and he settle in Tijuana, Baja California. Los Antrax notified the Cartel of Tijuana of his exit and the people from Mazatlan were waiting for his arrival at the port. A call to a ranch of Mazatlan cost him his whereabouts. El Chiquis gets comfortable and he called the ones he betrayed, and ask them for money that they owe him and proposed to work with them to fix the damages that he made.

El Chiquis forgot that mafias do not forgive. In October 30, El Chiquis gets in touch with a trafficker from Guadalajara, who makes an appointment with him in La Zona Rio and alerts the offended parties, who followed him and killed him. A strong and clear message from la mafia. The code of silence, remains of high value.

  1. If you thought the Canelo fight would go any different estabas desilucionado. Same with Mayweather and Pacquiao. I have no idea how people thought they were going to be good fights. And I hate Mayweather but come on. u appreciate the work n effort but maybe have one of the other contributors proofread beforehand because half the time I have to guess what you really meant to interpret.

  2. The code of silence is still strong in Mexico. In the U.S., snitches get to live on the govt dime in hiding with little worry that anyone will ever come and put a couple in their heads. This guy got what he deserved. He's lucky they had to act fast, or he would have gotten tortured. This dumb dumb's brain was clouded with dreams of easy money. After what he had just pulled? Brain dead tweeker probably. Good Riddance.

    1. Forget about it, in the US nowadays snitches go back to their same area, everyone knows they ratted and nobody does shit. People assume they have the gov on speed dial and either walk the other way or worse, chop it up with them like: so, how ya been, how's the family? People ain't about shit these days. I am 3rd generation and let me tell you my grandmother, and father for that matter are rolling over in their graves

    1. It is easier to have code of silence than having to Presidential Pardon all the crooks involved, or having to take it like a MAN and not snitch on your VP and throw him under the bus for misleading the whole US into two more wars for profit the have cost about 10 000 more US lives and a whole lotta treasury...

    1. Get your facts straight. Javier Torres snitched and that was the word inside that's why he was in solitary confinement or else he would've been killed. Inside if you snitch, you're a dead man walking.

    2. Anon 8:45 AM,you are very wrong my brother.Javier Torres is a rat, snitch, stool pigeon...so is Chino Antrax, thats why both of those dudes were in PC...Javier Torres went to low/medium security joints for the same reason. To put him in a USP would've cost him his rat life.As for Chino Antrax, him & Zambadas younger son were in PC in MCC...as a matter of fact you cant even find them in the Federal Inmate Locator, por RATAS!Few guys hold their mud these days.

  15. I saw this on Gente De La....facebook too, it's interesting story, and some of the details align, the time frame is when DEA were building Narco Polo......Some of the phrasing may be just translation, but there are some inconsistencies. What was Chiquis arrested for, after being detained at the border? He may have agreed to cooperate, but that would not be settled so soon after his arrest. I checked and he's not mentioned in Narco Polo, the operation that indicted all the Antrax, and major TJ traffickers. Also, I couldn't find anything on the name, or AKA of Chiquis. Thank you for posting, it's interesting either way.

  22. It's pointless to sit here and talk about a "code" of silence with some of these guys. You have bosses that order kidnapping of young women, have innocent children slayed, innocent people killed, young girls raped and mutilated. Your stupid to think an animal like that has any type of ethics, criminal or not.
