Veracruz; Weekend of violence greets new governor. 28 killed

Posted by DD republished from Mexico News Daily

Governor Yunez; "what did  I get myself into"
Miguel Ángel Yunes was sworn in as governor of the all but bankrupt state of Veracruz last Thursday, but another initiation followed on the weekend with gun battles that left as many as 28 people dead.

The violence was unleashed on Saturday in the southern municipality of Jesús Carranza, where early reports by locals and police warned of the presence of a group of some 30 heavily armed individuals aboard armored vehicles.

That night, a clash between Army personnel and the yet unidentified criminal group left two dead along with four injured, all allegedly criminals. The rest of the large group fled into the brush.

The Army reported that it had secured eight vehicles — one of them armored — and several weapons.

Since then, the Army has mounted strict checkpoints at all road accesses to Suchilapan del Río, the largest town in the municipality.

A second shootout on Sunday, this time involving police officers and close to 20 individuals, left three dead and resulted in the seizure of AK-47 and R-15 assault rifles.

The most violent confrontation took place yesterday evening, when a state police patrol came under fire. A reinforcement of state police, Navy personnel and municipal police arrived on the scene, where a shootout resulted in 14 suspected criminals being shot dead and one police officer injured.

More rifles and shotguns were seized after the clash, as well as a .50-caliber Barrett M82 semi-automatic sniper rifle.

Given the state of violence, the 2,500 inhabitants of Suchilapan have lived under virtual curfew with municipal authorities asking that schools remain closed, residents stay at home and business owners keep their businesses closed as the risk of being caught in a crossfire between official forces and criminals is high.

Other areas also reported violent but isolated events.

In the municipality of Minatitlán an armed group attacked a bar called La Maracuyá, targeting and killing the 21-year-old owner of the club.

In the nearby municipality of Jáltipan, also in the southern part of the state, an individual was executed at a taco stand in the town’s center.

The municipal authorities of Boca del Río reported finding two corpses showing signs of having been tortured, with a “narco-message” attached.

In the northern municipality of Álamo, two more male individuals were found dead. They, too, showed signs of having been tortured.

The body of a three-day kidnap victim was found by the side of a road in the municipality of Tierra Blanca, while the body of a truck driver was abandoned on the side of a road close to the city of Córdoba.

Finally, 15 kilometers away from the state capital, Xalapa, another shootout was reported, leaving one person injured.

    3. More like mopping up for Javier Duarte, by the time his ass gets cogido there will be no witness left. Miguel angel yunes linares says: "the army did not get involved", as if that is going to resuscitate one or two of the deceased.
With his own looong record of corruption, don't expect for things to get much better.
--Cuitlahuac Garcia Jimenez, MORENA candidate for governor was a much better option, but could not manipulate the voting fraud.

    5. None of them have " Fuerzas Especiales " did you see how uncoordinated CJNG was when they kidnapped Chapo's kids and even when they went after Chapo and the Marines released a video of it, they were also very uncoordinated. Any Swat Team from even the smallest Police Department in the U.S. is better trained than most Méxican Marines. If someone actually had real hitmen they would rule any plaza.

    7. "uncoordinated". Bro please. Those guys knew what they were doing. They moved delebrate and had very little stress as they moved from room to room. They moved without fear and they knew they would get no resistance. The only thing "uncoordinated" was Ivan's poor attempt at being injured from the red card penalty kick from ostrich skin boot guy.

    9. Any "fuerzas Especiales" that use their name in coins, jackets, product, propaganda, etc etc etc, they took it from foreign special forces like the kaibiles, and the US also gives coins to its recruits, and nedals, for participating, they are not just grameros or car washers or maruchaneros...

    2. There is a big difference between what the news reports and what actually happened. The military has gotten their asses handed to them in tamaulipas more times then I can count

    3. The soldiers in sinaloa were outnumbered, even dumb teanagers would of pulled it off. Fyi tamaulipas is the place where more soldiers get killed year after year. If you were really a marine, you wouldn't be writing nonsense.

    4. What about the CJNG's ambush that killed 15 state police officer last year? Or when the shot down helicopter by CJNG that killed approximately 5 military personnel. If you don't remember those incidents occurred in Jalisco and not in Sinaloa. Oh and I almost forgot about the helicopter shot down in Michaocan by the Knights Templar splinter group allied with CJNG this year. I believe 5 were killed in that attack also. The Zetas and Gulfos ambushed and killed a shitload of military/police in Tamaulipas back in the day. But that was probably before your time 6:12.

    5. Reporting the lies has been the trend du jour for a while, and it works wonderfully on the mushy brained of the world.
--Not all the civilians murdered by the mexican government sicarios are cartel member "sicarios communist drug traffickers" many are just civilian scapegoats and false positives, in the best tradition of "el traficante # 82"
--the government sicarios are not all murderers, but they all cover up for each other

    1. 6:14. There was another drug bust in Sinaloa. They have too much on their plate to act imperialistic outside of their territory. The board game, Risk, doesn't work like that. Read the rules!

    2. @6:14. Capos can get together when locked up to try gain privileges in Mexico. Your comment could be true if Osiel Cárdenas Guillen had a foot in it from U.S.A. Good behavior time not blondy is his issue

    3. It doesn't work like that on the PC version of risk, Total War, either - it's more fun than the board game imo, js.

      Delete
    5. 6:40pm Are you serious? Too much on their plate b/c there was a bust in "their territory"?!? LOL "Their territory" extends from Columbia and Peru to Canada. You apparently have no idea of the worldwide infrastructure CDS has and a giveaway bust that doesn't hurt them

      Delete
    6. CJNG controls a large part of the Guatemala/Mexican border. CJNG snatched that plaza from cds too. Cds is the past, CJNG is really the new generation... Cds has the government and most cartels against them now, too many snitches from cds and finally is biting them in the a$$...

      Delete
    7. 1001 are you serious? "Their" as in CDS territory extends where? It is called they have connections in other countries not territory. Having dealt bags two out of three of those countries you mentioned DID NOT have CDS NAME on it ANYWHERE. So put the pipe down already before more of your brains cells experience apoptosis

      Delete
    8. 8:14. The only way CDS can take Veracruz is by befriending CDG. However as the saying goes, you don't kill a family in another country and blame another country for it and get away with it.

      Delete
    9. 10:01 CDS does have too much on their plate to start a war in Vercruz so get that thru your thick skull. You obviously know nothing about strategy. If you did you would know that a multiple front war never ends well for the aggressor. If it didn't work for some the best armies in history then I think it won't be good for a drug cartel. CDS lost Chihuas, losing in BC/BCS, retreated from Nuevo León, Zacatecas and Tamaulipas. Should I go on or do you catch my drift?

      Delete
    10. Jajaja! Funny reading arm chair quarterbacking who don't live in Mexico and know nothing like 6:27 (yes they control it). You have no idea of the reality of what is happening. CDS pulls the strings that points away to others and creates the fantasy in your head! Jaja! While you cheer for a cartel like it's fútbol they make more money than you can even understand. CDS makes more money in day than CJNG in half a year. I remember your type saying LFM, Zetas, etc will be on top and it's still CDS. CDS owns Mexico, Central America, Shinig Path, FARC, party de PRI , Mexican industry, thousands of trucks crossing border, shrimp and tuna boats, planes leaving every Mexican airport etc. Keep creating your fantasy in your head. Jajaja

  6. These were Zetas that were killed. They were from Nuevo Leon, trafficking coke from Central America. They had a pact with Duarte and Felipe Herrera. Now that Duarte is out, the plazas are up for sale (and probably already in the hands of the CJNG, but that's just my speculation). The new government knew all of the Zetas routes and procedures and they seized 22 kilos of coke last week. The Zeta crew got desperate and attacked SSP cops but the Army, Marina, and Municipales all backed the SSP up.

The Zetas lost an entire crew, pretty much, a few vehicles, some heavy armament (including a few bazookas and 50 cals) and probably a few million in coke in the end. They're about to get pushed out of Veracruz, or at least the government will try. There will probably be backlash soon ...

Zetas whacked most of this individuals, due to old beefs before the BLO/Z alliance. Last dude with power was la burra after him they all dissapeared or layed low

Now that is a Ration of 14:1 (actually < 1). Note: 14 dead and not one single injured 'alleged' criminals. The mexican police/navy must be the best in the world.

Moreover severe punishment here in the United States for those who engage in drug activities. Too many families and lives are being broken on both sides from this. ENOUGH OF THIS. When will it ever stop. When will the people rise up and overtake their sense of dignity as a nation as a country to live again.

EPN should not set foot on another luxury plane, eat another chef-cooked dinner, nor sleep in his silk sheets one more night while his countrymen suffer these abhorrent ordeals. Act or quit EPN. Its all on your shoulders.
