José Manuel Mireles,
former leader of the Tepalcatepec autodefensas in Michoacán, left El Rincón
Prison located in Tepic, Nayarit, after three years in jail.
Dr. José Manuel Mireles reported that he was released
from prison at 7:00am this morning. He
said that “I’m heading out…we still don’t know the way.”
“I am happy to see you
all, I thank you all for all the support you have given me (…) because the struggle
must continue,” said the former autodefensa leader of Michoacán.
In a telephone
interview with Ciro Gómez Leyva, Mireles said that when he entered prison, he
did not have the diseases he has today. “I
had two heart attacks, I still have diabetes and spinal problems. I gained that here, from inside; I didn’t have
that outside,” said the doctor.
Mireles said that he was
unaware of the place in which he would be transferred to, but said that he
would like to have a medical checkup due to the heart problems he has had.
“We don’t know where
but I would like to go to a heart checkup; I suffered three minor strokes, I
have spinal injuries and my diabetes is uncontrolled,” he said.
The former leader of
the autodefensas commented that at around 23:00 yesterday, the first process
server told him that the agreement was reached with the judge for him to be
released and this morning, he was released at 7:00am.
Ignacio Mendoza Jiménez, Mireles’
lawyer, said in an interview with Grupo Fórmula that “the truth is that we feel
happy for him, for his family, but as a lawyer, we think that it is incomplete
and we will continue to work so that in the coming months, the process is not
lengthened (…) and obtain an acquittal.”
The release of Mireles comes
after his lawyers, Ignacio Mendoza Jiménez and Carlos Iván
Martínez Rosas, paid the 30,000 peso ($1,595 USD) bond imposed by a district
judge based in Michoacán.
The 30,000 peso bond was paid for thanks to José Daniel
Moncada Sánchez and Manuel Antúnez Oviedo of the Movimiento Ciudadano Political
Party.
Mireles is subject to
prosecution for his probable participation in the crime of carrying firearms
for the exclusive use of the armed forces, a record that is currently in
process, due to the fact that they still lack to relieve diverse tests offered
by their defenders.
Among the conditions
for his freedom, José Manuel Mireles will not be able to approach any of the
people that had to do with the history of the autodefensas and his case. In this regard, Dr. Mireles said that he didn’t
have hatred nor a grudge. “I cannot
afford to keep up my courage because of my health situation.”
In addition to the paid
bond, Mireles must comply with other precautionary measures such as submitting
periodically to sign at court, not leave the state of Michoacán nor the
country; as well as not approaching nor communicating with certain people.
When asked about the
book he was preparing, Mireles said that he finished it in prison; it is now
waiting for the latest revision.
Hopefully the MEX gov don't kill him
ReplyDeleteIf he would have died in prison it would have been a real problem for the govt to explain, but now that his health is fucked they let him out and hope he dies soon. Brave man who did the right thing and suffers the consequences.
Delete7:11 I love you papacito!
Delete-El Sol Prendido.
Yeah when he's sick and can't continue to embarrass these fat fucks that's when they decide to release him
ReplyDeleteI agree....WELL SAID
DeleteBB should mention the important, and I think crucial, role that Partido Movimiento Cuidadano played in this great man's release.
ReplyDeleteThat's Daniel Moncada from the Michoacán state party driving and taking the selfie.
Selah! - Sol Prendido
ReplyDeleteMireles wasnt a bad looking dude when he went in,bein locked up can take it out of you
ReplyDeleteHe still is very sexy. In no time will he be right back to health and living life once again
DeleteMireles will live long after his last breath
DeleteAwesome. I thought this would never happen. Now I am worried about him being killed on the outside. What a wonderful human being. So sad to hear about his health. You cannot win in Mexico even if you do the right things at times. I cannot wait to buy the book if it becomes available.
ReplyDeleteMe too!!!
DeleteAGREED!! This is a true man and Mexicano, possessing that same spirit and courage that was possessed by by the indios and mixed bloods that rebelled against the tyranny and enslavement imposed on that country by Spain 208 years ago.
DeleteAwesome. I thought this would never happen. Now I am worried about him being killed on the outside. What a wonderful human being. So sad to hear about his health. You cannot win in Mexico even if you do the right things at times. I cannot wait to buy the book if it becomes available.
ReplyDeleteFuck yes, the doc is free. Best news I've heard in a long time
ReplyDeleteI know right!! I can't begin to imagine how someone in his position must have felt, when he found out he was leaving prison. between the day to day horrors of prison, struggling to fight disease and illness behind bars and knowing why he was there to begin with, says something about the man himself who lived to survive it all.
DeleteI feel his pain.... looks happy to be free, I remember coming out of jail after beating a case on trial. Bitter sweet smell 8n the air but happy as hell. My respects, he deserves to be free! Happy for him
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day, the Dr is finally free and Mexico can breath a sigh of relief that the judiciary didnt manage to kill him.
ReplyDeleteFuck yeah!!!!!!! The good Doctor is free!
DeleteFrom Long Beach, CA to the good doctor:
"A sus ordenes jefe"
From S.E.Florida, happy to hear of his release and like so many, we will be scrutinizing his health & safety after this release. Rest up and relax good doctor, you have earned a quiet safe retirement!
DeleteMireles for President!!
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome ! The documentary on Dr. Mireles was one of the most amazing docs I have ever watched. The man has incredible courage and I hope and pray his health improves.I thank God and all the people who worked so hard to get him released.
DeleteGod be thanked!
ReplyDeleteDr. José Manuel Mireles for President of Mexico
ReplyDeleteSALUDOS Para toda mi gente de la sierra de DOS AGUAS
arriva la Morisqueta Puro MICHOACAN Primo ....
Que Viva Mireles, Que Viva pancho Villa, Que Viva Mexico!!! We have yet begun to fight!!!
ReplyDeleteFINALLY !!
ReplyDeleteWhat great news to awake to,
Let us all send good JuJu for his health recovery !
Thank you Valor
Great Day May the best be in store for Him and Kill all the rats in Mexico and let the Good People Take over..Jefe in mx
ReplyDelete8:53 juju is for mota, Yaqui?
ReplyDeleteWhere i live some grifa addicts call Don Julio an old dope fiend "Don Hu hu" because he likes his smoke and he inhales.
A great day for mexico. Never thought he would leave jail on his own foot.
ReplyDeleteI will have some Tequilas...
Ai viene lo bueno!!!!
ReplyDeleteHes free but they won... only reason they let him go is because hes so sick.
ReplyDeleteWith good medicine, love, care and time- he'll be alight. So happy!
DeleteHe has his freedom and can now get the proper medical attention he obviously needs. It's a miracle he didn't die in prison !
DeleteValor, I assume the post uses, "coraje" when Mireles says he holds no grudges. Coraje here means anger. So, it should read: “I cannot afford to keep up my anger because of my health situation.” It's an important difference.
ReplyDelete"Coraje" is like a grudge, resentment
DeleteCorajudo someone that throw's tantrums easily
Courage = valour
Courageous = someone that does what has to be done without regard for the danger or in spite of the fear.
Dr Mireles refused to kiss ass or bend over when the shit hit the fan in spite of the murdering around him.
Courageous= Dr. Mireles.
DeleteThe Judge should have ordered Alfredo Costillo to be arrested and incarcerated in Dr. Mireles vacant cell for all the human rights violations which Mireles suffered while in prison.
ReplyDelete11:56 Part of the "new Mexican system of justice" should be making government officers liable for their stupid mamadas, retroactive and extensible to their families and patrimony and their partners in crime, they can keep 10% of the take if they will confess at the first chicharrazo en el cabus.
DeleteThe good doctor lives to see the light of day.
ReplyDeleteI never thought he would make it out because Mexico is so corrupt. I hope he gets the medical chkup ASAP.
ReplyDeleteWe are not out of danger yet.
God Bless and "protect" Dr. Mireles
Mexico=Watcher
@9:14 MW. He is not out of danger yet but I don't think he is out of commission yet. He does need to get med check ASAP. but if it is diabetes with proper care he can control that. With luck his heart problem can be treated. If he needs help to pay for the best medical care available we might should set up a "gofund" to cover the costs.
DeleteIf Chivis is physically able she has connections to his family and his attorney and she might could find out more than is in the news.
He still has to get those damned gun charges dropped but when that is done I don't think he will be out of the game if he can recover his health.
I hope el Dotorr gets out of mexico and works from outside, he will get a lot OD support, it is no use to still be a prisoner in his own house and be kept under a gag order with pending accusations and trumped up charges, he is going to be spied, garranteed; If the US president can be wire tapped with impunity and don't even want to talk about it anymó, imagine poor sick Dotor Mireles,
DeleteTime to leave Prison Mass Grave "mexico".
DD: Great idea about getting $$ help to Dr. Mireles.
ReplyDeleteI think the doctor's story needs to be covered in the USA English and Spanish speaking media "if" it would help his survival and cause.
Mexico-Watcher
I agree. Dr. Mireles still needs much help and support. Money, a safe haven and medical care.
DeleteI'm very happy the see this poor man has finally been freed by the scum that is the Mexican government. Best wishes for now and the future I can only hope he can stay safe.
ReplyDeleteHallelujah, Homes?
ReplyDeleteYes. Thank you God for answering our prayers after all this time. Honestly, I had lost faith. Now that he is out he is in even more danger. May the Lord protect him.
ReplyDeleteHappy for Dr. Mireles being freed finally, now please grow back that mustache!
ReplyDeletehe is my hero. just pray more good things can happen for mexico. for sure i would donate to help him.
ReplyDeleteI would donate also. Many legitimate organizations need to get involved to assure he gets the money, safe sanctuary and medical care he needs and most certainly deserves. The man is definitely a hero !
DeleteEs un milagro! Felicidades a Dr. Mireles.
ReplyDeleteQue Dios lo bendiga!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the mandate to keep him inside Michoacan. Wouldn't that essentially be a danger to his life?
ReplyDeleteThis is what corrupt Judges do. They restrict the release of the accused to an area where he will be more easily killed by Govt thugs or Narco.
DeleteWishing Dr Mireles and the people of Mexico freedom from the cartels and from corruption. May the conditions that support drug crime be brought to a peaceful end. May you be in good health and safe. The world is watching.
ReplyDeletenice
ReplyDeleteI pull up BB every couple of days specifically to see if Mireles has been freed yet. Finally. Now he needs to recover. It would be great, as an earlier post suggested, for someone to set up a fund for him.
ReplyDeleteHope he gets at least a piece of the peace he deserves, now that he's out of the box.
ReplyDeleteCases like his make me just... hope, for some greater power, to intervene. Not a nation, a military coalition or other ordinary force. For the pope to declare a crusade for the reclamation of Mexico and her people from the servants of satan, maybe.
Govt thugs are the Narcos corrupt Judges as well as the president of Mexico are keeping Mexico poor as ever, Mexico should pass a law, it you own your home ao have a business you are intitle to have a gun
ReplyDeletefor protection,
There is just no justice. I cannot believe a man who was serving to protect his community could be treated like this. What a deeply corrupt country. He spoke truths about the government that no one would dare speak and look where it got him. The government is no better than any of the cartels. simple
ReplyDeleteI have just seen the documentary, the guy on the border said that people all over the world are fighting for change because the politicians are spouting lies and nothing changes. I am one of those people but here in the uk we are not treated like the Doctor. However we are all still on the radar, I have read that he was rushed to hospital, if diabetes is not controlled it causes big problems. Lets face it folks we have destroyed the current world. Regards and good health to all
ReplyDeleteGreat, a hero of the people comes back.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Dr. Mireles. I hope I can continue to read about your continued improvement in your legal situation. I also hope that the citizens of Michoacan come to grasp and comprehend the enormity of what you have done for them, as well as all Mexicanos. Sacrifices, courage, bravery, and leadership, these things Dr. Mireles gave to his neighbors, his community, his state and his country. I sincerely hope that if any whom are still living or have family that was spared death, suffering, torture, rape, or any other oppression because of this great man and are in a position to assist him in his time of need and darkness, that the step up with the same selfless courage and be there for him
ReplyDeleteVery soon now, the world will need many more men (and women) like José Manuel Mireles. As life gets more difficult in the coming days, I hope we all may find the courage, virtue, and strength that will be needed to endure.
