Update: El Chapo case...same old complaints from the capo

Hola Borderland Beat….

Due to illness, I have been unable to keep current, in a timely manner, with the case against El Chapo.  I can report that after reviewing the case documents posted on the gov website for the past month, not much has changed, with the same grievances coming from Chapo, and the same objections from the United States.

Chapo declarations of his incarceration as being excessive and inhumane continues this week in the New York courtroom.  Yesterday he was denied his request to join the general prison population.  His request for visiting privileges with his wife Emma Coronel was modified and allowed under strict conditions.  That being she is allowed to visit or phone El Chapo, for the narrow purpose of discussing the hiring of new attorneys.

His attorneys will be in court again today, to plead their case of excessive conditions of Chapo’s imprisonment.

Below are documents pertaining to the issues aforementioned and others from the past week. Noteworthy is the discovery the government handed over to Chapo’s legal team, which included draft summaries of “recorded communications”, totaling almost 1500 conversations.

  1. it is in humane that he is not allowed visitors. Other prisoners get visitors. This is not right nor legal at all. Chapo should sue.

    1. And you think he gave these rights to the people he killed or had killed? Poor Chumpo,Seriously!!! I suppose you want to give the devil a fire hose too?

    2. When you get into a business that has drugs, guns and some of the most gruesome people that you ever seen there's going to be violence. It's survival of the fittest. How many of his people have gotten killed too? And It's not his fault that the USA have drug issues.

    3. He entered into that business on his own and that business has consequence. Whether they go to far on his imprisonment or not is debatable, however, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that he is the same as any regular criminal. Its not his fault that the US started having drug issues, but, he definitely has a hand in contributing to it. You don't earn billions of dollars in that business without destroying a fair share of families and lives.

    4. He should have joined the DEA instead you can do what you want you just have to give the bosses their cut. If you want to be a king pen go full in like Pablo Escobar just don't kill people like a terrorist and be prepared for the long haul.

    5. 3:03 the CIA was paying much better back in the day, well not all of the CIA, just some "rogue agents" with charolas that were using their powers from the WHITES' HOUSE under Ronald Reagan to make war against "guerrillas" and guerrillas to destabilize the region and make a.ton of money from the drug trafficking king and money laundering, then the DEA caught up with them, and robbed some of their millions of dollars from the bank, idea of el Kiki Camarena.
My point is, some people use their government positions, for evil purposes like making war for profit, but not everybody in US government participates, most just cover it all up...

    6. It's really hard to establish visiting rights with high value cartel leaders. I myself have been through the process and you have to have permission from FBI dea and us marshalls. They get pay stubs bank info and a polygraph. Then you have to be approved by the judge I have done it before and it's a long process. My wife and I are the only ones in the us allowed to visit unless it's attorneys. I personally believe he should get a Skype visit or something along those lines.

    7. Prisoners have no federal constitutional rights to visitors except access to lawyers. There are numerous cases that support this. So too bad there are no grounds to sue. I can get you the legal citations but easier for you to read the ACLU website.

      And good thoughts to Chivis.

I don't understand the mindset and goal of 6:43 of why he would say such a thing to a perfect stranger But it makes me feel so grateful that I can say with confidence that none of my children, grandbabies, and family members would ever send such a mean, stupid comment to anyone let alone a stranger. I guess I will just feel sorrowful for the author, who for whatever the circumstance has yet not learned to feel compassion for others, due to a poor upbringing, lack of parenting, love, or a sad environment. I forgive you and send you a hug and love.

  8. Anyone that is incarcerated in the U.S should not be treated this way. We are a country with principles we are not known to be such disgusting pigs if this man has committed crimes like everyone else in there what makes his crime any different than murderers? Everyone in the government knows how this rolls they themselves were involved with him IF that's even el chapo behind those bars. The most powerful drug lord ever to get caught and treated this way I'm sorry but it's hard to believe that the one person that fed all of Mexican officials and presidents turn someone like this over ha hard to believe.

    1. We can only fathom the number of victims killed maimed and assaulted by the hundreds of thousands of addicts all over this country. Not to mention the other hundreds of thousands of families and friends that are torn up by the fact, in his own words "I provide more drugs to the US than anyone else" genocide, how about narcocide. Chapo has had more negative impact on this country than any other enemy nation. He should be treated as a despot and hung in public, or like the Japanese used to do: death by a thousand cuts...

      Delete
    2. 9:33 you are the only fair person. I agree with what you say. He's guilty of being in the drug trade well there are murderers that took part in 911 etc who got treated better!!!!!

    3. 9:33 . "if that is really him in prison " ? "Everyone in the government knows how this rolls they themselves were involved with him " ? And Elvis is really still alive ? I hope he can give out credible information . He wont get off easy but it could become difficult for anyone living off his drug money to live openly in the usa . I figure sometime in the future and probably sooner than later this woman will move on with her life . Its obvious that chapo somehow has some kind of financial control over her assets . She is probably given a ration of money . the usa can probably help her solve part of that .

      You do make a point.
However you are neglecting a major contributor to millions of deaths each year by the same chemically induced products. And yet impunity for such are granted / permitted. Tobacco companies.
Moreover where we have eagerly demonstrated in engagement of war with countries who have or use chemical weapons against its citizens. And yet chemical plants of such remain untouched nor punished.
Do you catch the irony of such transparencies!

  9. You have to think like a crook. The issue is not about "visits" with loved ones or for socializing...

It is about communications very sensitive information and not about lonliness. Chapo wants information and also to give orders via visitors. He cannot trust his lawyers.

Chapo is pissed that he has lost control of his criminal empire...that is what all this is really about.

  19. The hypocrisy of the US judicial system in full display again as we near the 25th anniversary (04/29/92) of the Rodney King trial and the acquittal of 4 white officers for the brutal beating of a black man. Every person in the US that is incarcerated should have the right to due process and the means to themselves regardless of the charges. Every institution in the US devoted to civil right should be appalled by the US government's actions in Chapo's case. The big picture here is that this is not about Chapo but about the racism, bigotry and discrimination that minorities face everyday in Amerikka. I have to also be mindful that I have friends that are white who are really good people but the majority are not. One more proof that the US government will make your life a living hell if you are either black or brown. That is the reason their is more Mexicans in the pen than in college. However, if your a pale skin you will get nothing but a slap on the wrist. Best wishes to Chivis...10:28...

    1. Wow! That's quite a dark blanket statement of all white people. I respect respect your opinion but I find it harsh. I could say I used to think like that 20-30 years ago. I'm glad I've changed. My opinion- we're all equally good, bad, etc. It's our environment that hardens (or softens) us. My parents were hard on race issues. I grew up racist. Took years to undue that. Chapo is a special case. Nothing to do with skin color

    3. Well,.if la.Chapa needed his impunity that bad, he should have got himself made a lieutenant colonel at least, in the mexican army at least, it worked for Domingo Monterrosa in El Salvador, Julian leyzaola in tijuas, lt.col. James Steele, in el Salvador and Iraq, and for Oliver North in the a white House, sheet! It even worked for private "Soldier" felix rodriguez mendigutia and to prove that there is No racism involved, Rick "Freeway" Ross, most favored by the inventors of CRACK FOR THE HUDDLED MASSES that helped unleash the US crack epidemic to finance the contras
But not work at all for Air Marshall Barry Seal, or El Dotor Mireles.

    5. Unfortunately the judiciary system demonstrates a strong pattern of favorable sentencing guidelines for non- minority's. Past and present American history clearly represents an unfavorable reality of racial issues. Where minority's have a greater chance of incarceration. Moreover a stiffer sentence than being non minority. Furthermore where census statistics suggest legal representation lack for such .
However this should not discourage us to become bigots , racist and ignorant to the systems which often continues to demonstrate a lack of fairness and equality.
But a goal to eradicate such behavior and practices by demonstrating otherwise, values, dignity and respect as Americans. Where freedom and equality pertains to all .
As a Hispanic/ American in today's society I will always contribute to my true belief as an American. Where patriotism is
not questionable but rather exemplified regardless of ignorant people.

Powerful prison and street gangs like La Eme, Aryan Brotherhood, MS-13 and the Latin Kings have a long standing working relationship with his organization. Morals go out the door with hunger and emotional pain, suffering, sickeness and the person that gave you 500 pesos for fucken food for your family.
