"El Flaco Sierra", cell leader of the Gulf Cartel, captured in Reynosa

Translated by El Profe for Borderland Beat from El Imparcial

Cae el "Flaco Sierra", líder de célula del Cártel del Golfo en Reynosa; se desatan bloqueos tras su detención

Elements of the Army and the Criminal Investigation Agency of the PGR detained Luis Miguel "N", "El Flaco Sierra", leader of a cell of the Gulf Cartel, in the border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

Sources from the security cabinet and from the Tamaulipas Coordination Group confirmed the capture of the alleged criminal, one of the main generators of violence in the area and a priority objective of the federal government and the authorities of Tamaulipas.

The arrest unleashed a series of blockades in different parts of the city, including the roads to San Fernando and Matamoros.

According to federal authorities, "El Flaco Sierra" disputes the leadership of the Gulf Cartel with Petronilo Moreno Flores, "El Panilo"; Luis Alberto Blanco Flores, "El Pelochas"; Juan Miguel Lizardi Castro, "Miguelito"; Andrés Martínez Granados, "El Pause"; Agustín Ordorica López and Luis Bravo Bautista Ramírez.

A week ago, the government of Tamaulipas and authorities of the United States jointly presented the Campaign of Security and Prosperity, a strategy against nine criminal targets that operate in the small border of the entity.

Among them are Juan Gerardo Treviño Chávez, "El Huevo", leader of the Zetas and Alfredo Cárdenas Martínez, "El Contador", leader of the Gulf Cartel.

El Panilo was reported dead, or maybe he just faked it, but involving more Americans smells like shit to do some other smelly jobs like taking over oil firms security and stomping more central american refugees before they cross over the "their" US, there may be a need for some other Allende or San Fernando, government mophakas won't tell the truth until they feel the cattle probe up their ass...

  5. Good job. Buen trabajo. Que se acaben los lacras.
The Mexican government should have more soldiers and a zero tolerance for criminals along the Mexican border with a harsher punishment and penalties for criminals within 100 miles south of the border because that is where most of the crime is due to drug, money and human smuggling are the most active. The border is lucrative for criminals.

North Korea (and it nukes) is kept safely away by a 50 miles no man's land strip of terrain, Mexico could be kept away better by a 500 miles deep, but on the US side, no man's land.

  10. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb questions. But why are they always burning cars, creating blockades? Is it just to create chaos in the city, or is there some strategic advantage to it?

    1. You never watch blackhawk down? Blockades are made to block a road. Cartels usually close escape routs or make enemies go thru certain streets to lead to ambushes or simply to block their escape.

    4. El primito el boludo el choco and miguelito all have to fall for the border to be reunited. Funny that el primito was not even mentioned as a priority target for tamaulipas oc cell leaders and he runs camargo and diaz ordaz and was backing el flaco sierra in his doomed attempt to run the metros faction.
