La Barbie sentenced this morning ..but it is sealed

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat

AP reports 50 years details are sealed

Edgar La Barbie Valdez Villarreal, was arrested in Mexico in 2010 and was extradited to the U.S. in September 2015. He pleaded guilty in January 2016 to charges of conspiring to import and distribute cocaine and conspiring to launder money.

He was sentenced today in Atlanta in a hearing slated for 9:30 AM. Prosecutors were asking the court to send him to prison for 55 years [660 months] and order him to forfeit $192 million.  He was facing leaving prison in a pine box, before he cut a deal.

His sentencing is sealed, which probably indicates he is set to testify against one or more defendants.  With the trial of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán closing in, a good guess is that Valdez will be on the witness list.  He was on the witness list against Alfredo “ El Mochomo” Beltran Leyva.  Beltran Leyva pleaded guilty and did not seek a plea deal.

Although the particulars are sealed, AP is reporting he was sentenced to the 50 years the  government was apx asking for.

Below is the 27 page government sentencing memorandum, it is a historical background of Valdez and details of his criminal life and interactions with others including Zetas and Osiel Cardenas.  It is worth reading.
From governments sentencing memorandum of last week:
Based on uncontested facts in the PSR, Valdez was responsible for the distribution of at least 12,000 kilograms of cocaine (a conservative estimate). From 2005 until 2007, the average sales price for a kilogram of cocaine in Atlanta, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Chicago was $16,500, and $15,500 - $17,000 in Memphis.  Giving Valdez the benefit of any doubts, based on an estimated average sales price of $16,000 per kilograms of cocaine (a conservative estimate), Valdez would have collected at least $192,000,000 of proceeds from his cocaine distribution. Valdez should not be allowed to keep the proceeds from his illegal activities that inflicted so much damage on so many people. Through the forfeiture order, the government is seeking to disgorge some measure of the riches Valdez amassed during his kingpin years and deprive him of the benefit from those funds. As a conservative estimate, the government respectfully requests that the full $192,000,000 judgment be assessed against Valdez.

    1. IMO he is the worse of them all. He had choices, lived a middle class life in the U.S. graduated, was an american and did not have dual citizenship. and he was a mass murderer who brought execution videos to the game. He is beyond a criminal, he is evil.

    7. I have never Quite understood how many years Alfredo “ El Mochomo” Beltran Leyva got sentenced to . I think Barbie should be executed as well as Chapo and Mochomo . It matters not how a dog got rabid . Sure we need to know what caused it . But his fate should be the same as other rabid dogs . None are fit for society

    8. Ok . Mochomo got life . Didn't realize he got sentenced . I probably skipped a few weeks reading back then . I am good with that . Have they made any corridos about ? Even though I hate rap I should make a rap song about it . I could include all them fuckers that got caught and sentenced and taunt the ones that's gonna get caught . Might throw in a few lines about the dumb fucker protecting them that go down fighting before the boss throws is hands up . I mean really as long as everything is factual , they should get mad . Right ?

But like a gentleman he paid bus fare home to the widowed girlfriend of the zeta he shot on the video.
The mexicon soldiers and marinas don't send home on a bus the women they kidnap and rape or the men they just kill kill kill

      If I understand this right.

Mochomo went down, possibly because Chapo snitched.
La Barbie was the armed wing of Arturo Beltran in the Gulf Cartel area.
Once Arturo hired los Zetas La Barbie went independent fought the Zetas in their home turf and fucked off Arturo Beltran.

Im almost 100% this is what happened.

2010 was the wildest narco war ever

    17. I don’t agree with Barbie and his drug dealing. Him or anyone else for that matter. To me they’re all the same. My relative could’ve just as well been kidnapped by any other group and I’d still commend whoever fought against his captors. If you’ve never been victimized by a cartel then it’s hard for anyone to understand my words. What I can say about Barbie is that he had some decency. He could’ve just as well killed that little girl and her mom. But he chose not to. Whereas the Zetas are known to wipe out whole families including their pets. Given how so much has changed it seems like all these other groups are just mimicking what Zetas are doing. Barbie saw the tide coming but he stood his ground. Unlike that one Zeta that dismembered a little girl before her parents. Children should never be messed with. - Sol Prendido

  3. Does the gov't want us to think he got the coke for free? The gov't is saying he moved 12,000 kegs at $16,000 per keg so he made $192,000,000. That's the amount they are asking a judgement for but that would not take into account his expenses. After all he had to buy the coke first, before he could resell it and then what about his moving/other cost it took to get the coke to the USA? You can't trust the USA gov't to be trueful. If they lied about this and the numbers are proof they did, what else are they lying about? This guy should do no more than 15 years at tops. I'm going to talk with Trump about this and see about getting him out early.

I was facing up to 99 years . The jury gave me something I could do and now its all behind me . I have seen many criminals that rolled over to save their own ass . Most of them were the more dangerous ones with lack of remorse . To this day I don't regret my choices . But enough with these drug trafficking MULES...
The real crooks here are the money laundering banksters and their favorite businessmen, some of them narcopoliticians that serve the American public for no salary, because the dirty dealings get more profitable under the shades of a government "job" even if it is a Con Job.

  44. And that is why I love my simple life. No looking over my shoulder and sleeping fine every night. A cold beer, fire up the grill, gf coming over for adult extra activities. Boys, crime does not pay.

  49. The American's will never let him escape. He will serve his full sentence or kill himself from being in solitary for so long. US prisons are no joke. They look cushy. But after so many days of solitary you'll lose your sanity.

  51. It will never stop. If we give pedophiles harsher sentencing then it will deter ppl from it. The cycle goes: kid gets molested. The aforementioned child develops major issues right away or down the road. After years of living with issue the grown child blows his/her money into something to forget the pain. And the pain can be masked with drugs, alcohol, hookers etc...it nvr stops 💸

  52. Much respect to La Barbie. I feel that the US Govt show their ungratefulness by not putting him in to witness protection for his "ratting" .. I don't care if a man deals in drugs, unless it is opiates. There is a market and at the end of the day, it is only junkies that they harm. The junkies are adults, not children or retarded. The only junkies that deserve empathy are the opiate addicted ones. The ones that need harmful, legal painkillers but can not afford them. But like I was saying, I have a lot of respect for La Barbie. Always have respected the little guy, the cornered dog. To say that he is the worst is fucking stupid. The Zetas were the worst, and guess what? They were elite soldiers trained by the United States. All of you muppets forget that United States Govt, including at least 3 presidents were entirely responsible for creating the narco corridors for cocaine. Iran-Contra, stfu and research that before saying your keyboard warrior nonsense. US Govt and the elite families who funded that market are entirely responsible for the state of South and Central American narco states we see today. Purposely outlawing those drugs to increase their own pockets with money. Of any of the narcos, I wish Barbie could be free again. He wasn't a drug addict, he didn't harm innocent people, it was US Govt and MX Govt that cultivated the wars in Mexico and their families aren't getting killed so they are not backing down. Narcos need to take out PAN and PRI for starters. And stick a big fat cock up Carlos Slim's slave running ass too.

  54. Its the doctors that give pain pills for long time, then cut them off that send them to the illegal stuff. This has increased since they are now making it hard on doctors to keep prescribing for long term severe pain patients. So they hit the wall, and cartels get richer. Time to legalize and let people get what they need.
