Funny the police would arrive 30 minutes later. Time enough to let the perpetrators get far away. About 5 or 6 years ago in Chihuahua 2 to 3 cars were hijacked at gunpoint everyday from the Wal-Mart near Hospital Cima. A guy that was washing cars in the parking lot said that he saw them all go down. The police arrive not earlier than 20 minutes after each incident, or even longer. He said it is ironic as you can see police cars diving by many times as it happens, and during the wait time. I commented that they should set up a sting to catch them as they were hi-jacking the cars. He said that would not be good business as the police were obviously involved. You cannot drive one mile here without seeing multiple police. They are everywhere fleecing drivers and businesses and nowhere to be seen when you really need them.
One guy is still alive, raised his head, and everyone else is milling about watching the spectacle with their thumbs up their ass. Death in Mexico is a time honored reason for a social event. I've seen tailgate parties spontaneously form at fatal vehicle accidents, complete with kids showing up to sell chiclas and refreshments.
So fuckin sad,the human side of all these deaths, when the relations, husbands, brothers, sisters, turn up at the scene. How do you stop what is happening in Mexico ? The cultural idolatry of capos, cartels, the complete lack of governmental interest in advancing the employment of a vast labor pool,so sad the whole situation, but any kind of discussion inevitably is seen as an attack on Mexico itself

Geez, a whole half hour later and the cops show up...finally. Just three murdered, nothing to get in a rush over.
