High security surrounds El Chelelo's presentation who was 'captured by luck'

In Merida, Yucatan, an intense security operation is being implemented at the Oral Justice Center in Mérida, near the Mérida Prison, where the alleged leader of the Gulf Cartel, Eleazar Medina Rojas 'El Chelelo', arrested a few days ago, was to be presented.

A helicopter flew over the area, reported that since the morning the elements arrived to protect the area.

'El Chelelo', together with three other people was detained by an element of the Public Security Secretariat of the state and it happened on a fortuitous basis, the events occurred last Wednesday, December 5, in the Fraccionamiento Monte Bello, north of the city of Mérida.

The detainees were traveling in a vehicle with registration of Quintana Roo, which had been polarized,  not allowed in the entity; agents asked them to go down to do a routine review, it should be noted that in the State these revisions are very common, especially when they are with plates from other states; however, when requesting the documents the subject was identified as Maximum TR

The agents detected that they were false documents and they were transferred to the security complex, where fingerprints were taken and it was detected that they correspond to Eleazar Medina Rojas.

In a statement from the Mexican Navy: "Eleazar Medina Rojas is originally from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, and has a criminal record for illegally entering the United States of America, in addition to having several accusations against him for drug trafficking, rape and disappearance of people in that country," it says.

"El Chelelo", who was operator of the Gulf Cartel and who according to intelligence reports operated in Nuevo Leon.

"El Chelelo", was captured in 2007 but released on human rights violations.

The detainees were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General's Office, where the integration of the corresponding folder began. [click on image to enlarge]
