No lie: Chapo wears a red velvet blazer with a silk looking pocket square to court. Emma wore a matching red blazer.
Damaso Nunez Lopez aka Licenciado, is now on the stand giving testimony on behalf of the U.S. government.
The term “Licenciado” simply means a graduate, but in this case, Nunez studied law. The almost 63 year old was born in Sinaloa.
He became a top chief of the prison administration by 1999. He worked overseeing the maximum-security prison system, which included the Puente Grande Prison in Jalisco, where he met Chapo who was incarcerated there.
He became a top chief of the prison administration by 1999. He worked overseeing the maximum-security prison system, which included the Puente Grande Prison in Jalisco, where he met Chapo who was incarcerated there.
Nunez formed a network of prison guards to accommodate Chapo’s needs, and Nunez was responsible for organizing Chapo’s infamous laundry cart escape on January 19, 2001.
To protect himself, he resigned his position at the prison two months before Chapo’s escape. This caused a lowly maintenance worker nicknamed “Chito”, to take the brunt of blame.
Noteworthy: In Mexico it is not a crime to attempt or successfully escape from prison. It is regarded as a natural instinct. However, those in collusion are regarding as break the law. In the case of Chapo’s tunnel escape over 20 were arrested, including the warden, yet all but 2 or 3 remain in prison as a trickle of those charged have gained freedom. Most were high level personnel.
But in the case of Chito, he remains in prison with no freedom in sight. He has been incarcerated for 10 years for arranging that laundry cart for Chapo’s flight to freedom.
Nunez joined the Sinaloa Cartel after Chapo’s escape and became Chapo’s right hand man and most trusted confidant.
When Chapo was arrested after his tunnel escape from Altiplano, Nunez, assumed he would take the reins. He had established a strong criminal network himself, he attempted to consolidate the two factions of the cartel. He began a violent bloody war against the sons of Chapo, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar.
But before he could fully consolidate, he was arrested in Mexico City.
Chapo’s sons gained then gained the upper hand against Nunez’ faction, including Nunez son known as “Mini lic”.
Mini Lic was literally running for his life when the decision was made to turn himself in to U.S. authorities for a plea. Nunez was always thought to be apart of the deal making and it was suspected he would then agree to cooperate and testify again his former friend and boss, as part of a deal for both he and his son.
He was extradited to the United States on July 6, 2018.
Testimony
Testimony
Court room spectators describe Nunez as tall, balding an seemingly arrogant.
He locked eyes with Chapo after being seated in the witness stand, giving him a nod while placing his fist over his heart.
Nunez claims he had nothing to with Chapo’s escape from Puente Grande prison. He does admit to relatively benign assistance with helping him attain cell phones and clothes. Also helping Chapo’s wife Gris visit him.
It appears Nunez is not going to be as forthcoming as other CWs.
He says he worked for Chapo as a real estate broker, searching for and purchasing ranches and homes for Chapo. Then later as a “government relations liaison.
Meaning communications where "The govt would give us information regarding operations."
Explaining the escape, Nunez says only Chito helped Chapo. And that Chapo decided to make a break when he learned of the extradition filed by the U.S.
Nunez’ gives corruption testimony: He says he had two liaisons with the Mexican Army, Federal Police, AG office and the Marina., named “Javi” and “Roberto. Javi paid out $100K per month in bribes. Roberto paid out over $1 million per month.
Next were text messages between Chapo and Nunez, discussing the La Paz, PRI party BCS mayor. She was running for Governor in 2013 and asked for help from the cartel. She also asked for their help in a assignation of aa policeman.
Chapo’s reply: “Yes. She is the favorite [meaning she would be governor] and we should do her the favor. Maybe, when the cop is leaving his house as a revenge from some gangbanger. Don't be seen. Not with a rifle but with a pistol so it doesn't look violent."
Messages also referred to kilos of chemicals used to process and cut cocaine. He said the cartel was experimenting with "synthetic cocaine” and bringing in Colombian chemists to make it for them.
Nunez said how Chapo's pilot once tried to fly a helicopter out of a warehouse and crashed in a wind gust. The warehouse was located on a former ostrich farm. Chapo's pal Jorge Cifuentes later pushed it off a cliff for the insurance.
Nunez testified about murders he says Chapo directed. One was his cousin Juancho.
Juancho
Chapo and Nunez were at a
ranch in Culiacan when Chapo mentioned Juancho was supposed to be out of town,
but Nunez said he was seen around. Chapo
was incensed, he ordered Juancho to be abducted and to be brought to the ranch. One of his employees, El Oso, kidnapped him in a
public parking lot with Güero Bastida , another employee of the cartel.
Chapo's men arrived with
Juancho, and Nunez said Chapo asked, "What is that rascal
saying?" one of the abductors said; "Compadre, he offered me a lot of
money to let him go."
Nunez says, "He ordered
him to take him toward Culiacan and to kill him and leave him on the
outskirts."
Chapo said the secretary knew everything about Juancho: "Therefore he had to suffer the same fate. They were both killed."
Israel Rincon Martinez el Guacho
The interrogation video of
Israel Rincon Martinez was shown, who Nunez says worked for Chapo as a secretary,
who allied with BLO when the split and war broke out between Sinaloa Cartel and
BLO.
He was also accused of hiring
hitmen to go after Chapo. In the video he is repeatedly asked about this.
Chapo got a tip about Rincon
being in Culiacán and ordered him kidnapped.
He was taken to a warehouse on Nunez’ ranch. That is where the video and
interrogation commenced. The voice in the
video is that of Javi one of the liaisons previously mentioned.
Nunez said he heard Rincon/Guacho
was later killed. He says Chapo told him this.
Other testimony notes:
Prosecutors may rest this week
Prosecutors say they many rest, as soon as Thursday. If so, the defense will call their first witness on Monday as Fridays the courtroom is dark.
Below a translated and transcribed text convo between Chapo and Nunez:

Other testimony notes:
Nunez says that in 2004, "El Chapo " ordered the
killing of Rodolfo Carrillo, brother of Amado Carrillo, because his assassins
did not show him respect.
Carrillo and his wife were shot dead when leaving a movie theater, he explained. Pedro Perez, Carrillo's security chief, was also the chief of the police and immediately ordered, by radio, the help of federal agents. Lopez said so many police officers came to the scene that El Chapo asked his partner Ismael El Mayo Zambada to ask his contacts in the federal police to order the the aents to disperse

Lopez said so many police officers came to the scene that El Chapo asked his partner Ismael El Mayo Zambada to ask his contacts in the federal police to order the the aents to disperse
He testified about the
killing of Polo Ochoa, a drug trafficker close to "El Mayo" Zambada,
who made an agreement with the Government to provide information on "El
Chapo ". He was killed while in his truck with two others. There were over 100 bullet casings left at
the scene in 2012.[image at left]
The witness said that Chapo ordered the killing of Gonzalo Araujo Payán. [Araujo, sicaro chief, was found dead at one
of his homes in 2006. His death ruled a suicide
as there was a shot to the head and the weapon laying by his side]
Juancho was killed for
lying about his location—As was his secretary because he knew about the lie.
Note: At the beginning of the trial, Judge Brian
Cogan asked the Prosecutor's Office not to focus on the alleged killings
committed or ordered by Guzmán, since he is not being accused of homicide, but
of drug trafficking.
Nunez claims to have received
only 10 thousand dollars, a house valued at 1.5 million pesos and support in
medical expenses for one of his children, who had an accident. This is very difficult
to believe. Nunez is the first CW to
greatly downplay his role.
Gonzalito Araujo |
The witness said: despite
having been sentenced to life in the United States, he hopes that his
collaboration in the case against the capo, will have him recommended for a
sentence reduction.
Most of the testimony is
redundant and one wonders again why a deal was made with Nunez. Clearly it could have been done without.
In a sidebar Judge Cogan asked
the prosecution to reduce the number of redundant questions.
Nunez says in addition to
Griselda’s visits-why she had to have clandestine visits was not said-also
Nunez arranged visits from his brother-in-law, Marcelo Peña, and his brother
Arturo.
Prosecutors say they many rest, as soon as Thursday. If so, the defense will call their first witness on Monday as Fridays the courtroom is dark.

“Synthetic cocaine” WTF? Now these SNITCH-a-LOAS are getting greedy.. shady mofos
ReplyDeleteWhy are you in a Sinaloa article
DeleteNever got offthe ground, a kilo was going for 70+ K
DeleteMaaaaan synthetic cocaine...wouldn't doubt it..ive ran into some yayo straight from the key no cut and it was weird assss helll
Delete@1:53 most of the drugs you consume are cut or synthetic you will due if it was 100% drug trade has evolve real scientists and chemist bring in billions
DeleteAs I’ve said in posts here before pharmaceutical Coke is a real thing. it is manufactured in the US and though it is primarily used as a mouthwash now pharmaceutical cocaine has been around since the 1970s. And you can still be prescribed by doctor cocaine hydrochloride
Delete@ 3:58. That’s not synthetic cocaine, it’s pharmaceutical cocaine, made from coca, right in NJ. Synthetic cocaine would be coke that requires no coca to make.
DeleteWell these are his final days for dressing up, so he mind as well enjoy it
ReplyDeleteDid Damaso kill el Bravo? Did he had El Chapo's sons kidnapped?
ReplyDeleteOld news,
DeleteAlfredito got them kidnapped Cause she wanted guano
Chapos dumb ass kids were kidnapped by mencho.
DeleteIf u lived in culiacan Mexico you would not talk about their kids that way you would be scared to even say some s*** like that on social media or websites
Delete1256 well guess what buddy we dont live in Culiacan, we have the freedom to say whatever the fuck we damn well please. I pity ppl that have to live under tyranny. While this country isnt perfect by any means at least i dont have to live my life like a little bitch scared all the time
Delete1 million per month. Holyfuck!!!!
ReplyDeleteI dont know a whole lot about cocaine- never done it- but what is synthetic coke?? Is that stuff around?? Mexicans trying to cut out everyone and do it themselves ie. Meth and now synthetic coke- whatever that is
ReplyDeleteSynthetic coke is old news.
DeleteNope too pricey and nobody even knows about it. The famous coca rosita and no it's not that strawberry garbage ppl have
DeletePretty soon this guy is going to tell Chivis she got old news....
Delete5:51 pm you are correct...And anyone who knows coke can tell the difference..
DeleteI don't think you understand the process of making meth. No one will ever dodge having to buy precurser chemicles for meth, from the Triad. All meth ingredients come from China. Every large-scale meth cook in the world gets their ingredients from China. End of story.
DeleteChapo is getting snitched on just like he snitched on Mochomo and Caro Quintero
ReplyDeleteyou post that like everyday bro. chill
DeleteChapo BFF are snitching on him, he will go down as a nobody
DeleteI know right he stood in court and snitch on mochomo and Cato Quintero. I guessed I missed that show
DeleteChapo definitely has Caro Quintero karma to pay off.
DeleteI am thinking Chapo sure should take the stand. and wear the red velvet jacket--ivory silk shirt and elevator shoes for effect.
ReplyDeleteSeriously i think he should....nothing to lose and he can speak his story
What will the prosecutors ask him... mhmmmm
Deletethat would be great, and he should do it. I am sure he knows he is done, so mind as well say a few last words.
DeleteChivis taking the stand in a criminal case will only get him guilty even faster.
DeleteChivis I agree with you 100%, he needs to tell his side to clear up some of the lies with the jacket on of course 😂
DeleteYea what to heck ? What could he lose ? Coulsd produce some evidence to be used in a new trial . It has been my experience anything can be used against you in the future . Even jokes in fabricated situations . For instance . There was a run away planned . One was advising not to do it . They didn't listen . After it happened other inmates were joking that he planned it and sat back and watched and laughed at the idiots . Completely untrue . In court that was presented as the "buzz" that was going around the jail . Anything that is said can and may e used . The fact that you would say nothing will be used . They will make issue of you not testifying , they will make issue off your demeanor when you testified . Oh sure some of that is inadmissible . Often things have to be struck from record. Really though you cant un-ring a bell
DeleteChivis just killed me with the elevator shoes comment. LMFAO
DeleteIs him wearing that red blazer a joke...no I think it's his taste..remember the sensation he caused when he got caught...chapo Moda
Delete.
Too funny elevator shoes mi papa tenia un par con esos se caso ..saludos Chivis .espero y estes mejor.
ReplyDeleteChapo is a handsome chap; yet, several court artists' renditions of him are horrendous.
ReplyDeleteCanadian girl
Money kept him looking young he most likely looks like the old creepy man that he is
DeleteOmg gurl stop that. El mas handsome es el mencho.
DeleteEl Gilberton
Lmaooooo
DeleteEl Chapo handsome??? Then what is Enrique Peña Nieto? A Greek God?🤣
DeleteEl Cabrón De Tamaulipas
El guacho y el mochomo are the only ones gettimg respect up in this b....
ReplyDeleteFkn Guacho went out like a G
DeleteSame thing they in the business they betrayed got killed like they killed so many them self’s. Mochomo dies because he did not turn into a rat other than that the rest are rats and traitors
DeleteYeah was it worth it 7:16?
DeleteGuacho got killed like a bum
Delete11:34 why u a hater, he died like something you will never be a MAN. Kept it real like a few in the game will. Aguebo era de durango. I can only imagine any of u haters sitting hands tied infront of sicarios all of u tough guys will soil your tangas.
Delete6:51 hilarious how you defend your MAN
DeleteA real man doesn’t die like that he was a pos don’t get butt hurt Beltran Leyva groupies
DeleteRincon probably worked with the dudes who killed him. I'm sure "Javi" and him had contact before. It was basically like his co workers killing him.
DeleteIt was said that Chito was sentenced to 10 years and no freedom in sight. Then when was he caught ?and when was he sentenced? Because that seems wayyyy longer than 10 years. If he is probably never going to see freedom, then why not give him a life sentence or 50 years?? It looks worse to say 10 years and then another 10 years roll by and he’s still not out or even close to coming out. Govt does whatever it feels I guess, with the public watching.
ReplyDeleteChapo had Chito go into a store to get waters sometime into their drive. When Chito came out chapo had split.
DeleteThat's funny. Fucken chapo a conniving master-mind
DeleteJournalist Maibort said that his wife told her the matching wasn't planned they are "so connected" lol I don't think Lucero was worried, girl just wants the minimum years she can get.
ReplyDeleteI heard he also said el chapo was the one who sent out a hit against el guero bastidas can any body confirm this
ReplyDeleteYeah El guero was with him so he probably did but who knows what he did
DeleteI think Guero was the aforementioned "secretary " that knew too much about Virgo hence why he was also ordered killed.
DeleteYes that is both el juancho and guero bastidas in the pic ...both dead ....i always imagened it was an inside job..because they were heavy in the game
Delete"Licenciado" is like "licensure" in English as somebody receiving a license, similar to a social worker graduate receiving a state license or a medical graduate receiving one. So, in Mexican Spanish is it being used as a colloquialism for "graduate"?
ReplyDeleteHow do you pronounce Damaso is English? but please don’t be a dumb asshole about it.
DeleteDah-mah-so
DeleteThey called Abl el licenciado for graduating/escaping from a prison.
Delete12:28 Huh?
Delete2:40....never ever heard of ABL being called licenciado....Botas Blanca's, or Jefe de jefes.
DeleteAbl has a corrido called el licenciado by juan villarreal.
Delete615 "de una prision de Durango se les fugo un licenciado. Tambien le yaman el tio. Jefe de jefes mentado" that is from the corrido botas Blancas by cuates de sinaloa.
Delete615 then you must get all your info from corridos lmao
DeleteFyi many narcos have been referred to as jefe de jefes from Gallardo to Amado
DeleteEl chapo wont escape the American's. It doesnt matter who says what at the trial. The American's will make an example out of him. He will die in prison. RIP chapo you had a good run.
ReplyDeleteSeems like El LIC wasn't giving out to much information. That tells ya he is still loyal to El Chapo. I wonder if Mini LIC will take the stand?
ReplyDeleteSo loyal he co-signed with other witnesses on chapo having his own cousin murdered.
DeleteI thought hes getting charged for drug trafficking not murder. Might not be a big deal.
DeleteHe just trying to get a lil time off his sentence, he had to give him something but if you read the article you should know he wasn't that forthcoming
DeleteWhile we sit here and argue about who's loyal whos unloyal. They still consider themselves great friends. The perfect speculators 😂
DeleteWe literally have no fucken clue lol of what really goes on we just assume we know.
DeleteAnyone got info on Israel rincon? It sounds like he was trying to put himself in a rock and a hard place in the interrogation while Nunez says he was trying to kill chapo. Who was juacho a cousin too? Chapo? Fucking crazy how you can just order the death of someone you've known in an instant. No sympathy
ReplyDeleteYeah it's pretty sad that Chapo killed his own cousin and israel was stuck between a rock and a hard place but he should have just kept it real with chapo
DeleteJuancho was Chapos cousin. Rincon aka 'el wacho' or 'el puma wacho' was a cartel operator that worked for the bosses in times of peace. When the war broke out he chose the Beltran side over chapos and mayos. He stated in the interrogation that he joined their side under threat of death pretty much. He was also blamed for the death of el cachorro son of el animal. Its said that he mistook el cachorro in a white Ferrari for Ivan chapos son in a white Lamborghini. Point is he killed him on behalf of abl and all hell broke loose. Chapos did a favor to el animal and started picking up and killing abl members all over Culiacan as stated by Rincon in the aforementioned video.
DeleteMuch appreciated and much respect for the info guys. This is why I love this site's comments section
DeletePuma Washo or Miki was 100% beltran Leyva he was married to chalo Araujo daughter and was chalito brother In law, they along with the charritos gave Chapo, mayo, and Manuel Torres more then they could handle.
Delete642 what r u talking about? They abducted and killed him on the quickness after he killed marcial lol all those guys you mentioned are dead as can be. You sound dumb cheerleading bro especially considering how that scum was killed. Fuck em all let God sort them out.
Delete12:14 how is that cheerleading when it’s the truth moron?! Puma washo was 100% beltran Leyva he was married to araujos which are parientes con Beltran common facts. Yes they are all dead but when war broke out they held their own in terms of having to fight CDS, military and feds. You sounds even dumber by speaking out of your ass and not knowing what I was talking about. Puss
DeleteChivis sweetie, will Benjamin or any of the remaining AFO brothers testify against Chaps?
ReplyDeleteno. and prosecutors announced yesterday they will prob rest their case on Thursday meaning Lic is their last witness.
DeleteAnti climatic IMO and i would have placed margarito flores on the stand instead of pedro. Good for them they have so much direct evidence.
Great more of bribing the Mexican government, federal police was in collusion and helping out Chapo. He wanted people murdered, not a problem, they got it done.
ReplyDeleteHas El Licensiado ever spent time in the USA before, say 15 years ago?
ReplyDeleteHe was here for little brothers birthday on a ranch in Southern California 80 miles west of Mexicali in 2016 he still has several properties down here
Delete-El E1
Thank you.
DeleteI want to marry chivis who ever she is.
ReplyDeleteShe already has a loving husband. You can be the Sancho, lol
DeleteNah sorry I’m the sancho
DeleteI want Chivis to be my mama or my tia.
DeleteDid you guys know that Payan killed chalino sanchez?
ReplyDeleteWell he did just Incase some you still wonder about chalino.
M”
Barbarino also claimed that body
DeleteChalito thoeries are loose JFK theories
DeleteSo senor yo soy el sapo
ReplyDeleteGreat coverage on the case...Gonzalo is the guy from vida mafiosa.... Also his son died along with ABL... Chivus is that correct?
ReplyDeleteYes and his daughter was also dating el guacho at time he was kidnapped...guy in the video...
DeleteChalo araujo committed suicide, yes vida mafiosa is aboutnhim. Yes his son chalito died along side abl in cuernavaca
DeleteGonzalo el chalo araujo, i believed chalos daughter had a kid with el wacho or something like that also she was involved in el animals son being killed, she set him up
DeleteChalo was a well known Pedophile. Girls as low as 14 years old
DeleteThat song wasnt for chalo
Delete2:09 for who?
Delete10:51 If you wanna go there. Chapo guzman as well and Caro Quintero too. And that's just what we know about. There could be more.
DeleteChapos probably had something to do with every high ranking cartel members death. In gueros corridos they talk about how much the Guzman respected and appreciated him lol also in polo Ochoa how he was Guzman and mayo's good friend. These guys really kept friends close and they're deth reaper's closer.
ReplyDeleteIn that life your best friends kill you while smiling.
DeleteIt was rumored that chapo and mayo owed 5 million to guerito
DeleteThese h*es ain't loyal huh?
ReplyDelete
