The case of a couple
who was brutally executed in their home is causing a sensation on social medias
because, through social networks, it was announced that moments after the crime
a narco manta signed by the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) appeared at
the scene.
The events occurred
around 08:20 hours this Monday in an address located on Second Private St. and
Ninth North in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood, in the municipality of Santa Rosa
Panzacola, in Oaxaca.
The victims were
identified as Soledad, 28, and Fredy, 30, who are presumed to have only lived
for six months at the address where they were executed.
According to El
Imparcial de Oaxaca, a group of strangers knocked on the door of the building,
so Fredy, who allegedly was waiting for a delivery from a postal worker, opened
and was shot several times at point-blank range.
After listening to the
detonations, Soledad tried to reach safety, but the armed men reached her and
executed her mercilessly.
The assailants took the
valuables of the house, the tapes of the surveillance cameras and fled on board
an unidentified vehicle.
Neighbors of the area
called the authorities, which provoked an intense police mobilization and the
arrival of the paramedics, who only confirmed the death of the victims.
According to the
testimony of the family, the deceased worked as a builder, so the State Agency
of Investigations (AEI) was given the task of analyzing whether the crime was
the result of an assault or revenge; In addition, the authorities informed that
the security cameras installed in the area would be reviewed by the agents to
clarify the facts.
However, this Tuesday,
through Twitter it was reported that, moments after the execution, a narco
manta signed with the initials of the CJNG appeared in front of the address.
According to the post,
the crime would have been a settling of accounts, since in the narco manta it
is specified that the couple executed was only a warning for all those who have
a pending debt with R-8; So far, the authorities have not declared anything
about it.

I know around 3 or 4 years ago there was a change of hands and some cleanup going on when that happened and things have remained ugly and disputed in Tuxtepec and not as bad but sort of ugly in Salina Cruz, but what about elsewhere? I heard Oaxaca city is quiet because some high-ish up bad guys live up in San Felipe, but then this execution and specially the message make no sense.

When Mexico legalization is completed the cartels will be a different sort of business. Old ones may retire. Then they will have to find other ways to make money, if they can't pay their bills, pressure will be on. US legalization of some things have already impacted 50% imo.
