In the midst of a
strong security operation, which included the closing of streets in Ciudad
Victoria, Tamaulipas, José Alfredo Cárdenas Martínez "El Contador"
was transferred to a federal prison.
The transfer of the
nephew of capo Osiel Cárdenas took place about fifteen days after he was
recaptured in San Luis Potosí and held in the Center for the Execution of
Sanctions. (Cedes) of Ciudad Victoria.
The transfer of Cárdenas
Martínez as "El Señor Cortés" or "Escorpión" was carried
out by air based on the coordination and cooperation agreements with the
Government of Mexico and was led by elements of the Federal Police.
"El Contador"
was one of the priority objectives of the "Security and Prosperity"
program, initiated in June 2018 by the Government of Tamaulipas, as well as
seven US federal agencies integrated in the "Joint Task West", a
group created to combat organized crime in the Texas corridor.
Cárdenas Martínez had
already been arrested in February 2018 by members of the Mexican Armed
Secretariat, but was later released.
The Attorney General of
Tamaulipas offered a reward of two million pesos to anyone who gave information
that would allow its location.
Interesting to see the continuing cooperation of Mexican government officials and US government in the war on drugs.
ReplyDeleteCurious to see if extradition procedures will be granted. A policy which to me seems to be under under scrutiny by Mexico's government.
Time will tell.
Well of course he will be set free again, but then judges will still accept the bribe, but will be watched by US agencies. Therefore this time, no get out of jail.
