The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) busted a massive marijuana grow in Terra Bella on Monday morning, resulting in nearly 20 arrests.
On May 13, at 8 a.m., detectives with the TCSO TAGNET (Tulare Area Gang and Narcotic Enforcement Team) and TAGNET Majors helped Resource Management Agency with a code enforcement abatement warrant at a home in the 24000 block of Avenue 88 in Terra Bella. While helping serve the warrant, detectives found a large illegal marijuana grow within the property and inside the home.
A total of 16 people, including a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were found inside the home and on the property and were taken into custody. During the warrant, one person, who was a felon, tried to run away and was later found with a stolen handgun.
Detectives also learned the suspects were tapping into and stealing power for the indoor pot grow.
A total of 7,219 marijuana plants were found inside the home. 1,977 pounds of processed marijuana and 3,763 plants were found on the property and destroyed.

Narrative:
On 05-13-2019 at 0800 hours, Detectives with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department TAGNET (Tulare Area Gang and Narcotic Enforcement Team) and TAGNET Majors assisted Resource Management Agency with a code enforcement abatement warrant at a residence in the 24000 block of Ave. 88, Terra Bella. While assisting Resource Management Agency, Detectives observed a large illegal cultivation site of marijuana gardens within the property and inside of the residence.
As Detectives continued to assist Resource Management Agency, sixteen subjects were located within the residence and property and were later taken into custody for the above listed charges and transported to Pre-Trial for booking. Detectives also learned during the investigation that two of the sixteen subjects were juveniles who were also charged with the above listed charges. During the service of the Abatement warrant, one subject attempted to flee and was later found in possession of a handgun which Detectives learned the suspect was a previous felon and the handgun was stolen. The investigation was continued by Detectives who also learned the subjects were tapping into and stealing power for the indoor cultivation. A total of 7,219 marijuana plants were located inside the residence, 1,977 lbs. of processed marijuana were located, along with 3,763 plants were located within the property and were eradicated and destroyed.

ReplyDeleteMeans for profit and avoiding the tax regulations for many of California's cannabis businesses have been impacted.
ReplyDeleteA report by NPR found that many growers due to taxes and regulations have crippled many. Resulting with illegally growing to sustain oneself.
Seems to me like many who believe that states are only concerned with extra revenue than the well being of its citizens. A common practice by government to keep those from progressing.
Expect more states to follow suit with the potential of generating more money.

DeleteThere have been many big and bigger busts in this area, but again......look at the number of arrestees and probably mostly related. Their big mistake, of course, which gave them away was the STEALING ELECTRICITY; I might as well point that out, and un permitted indoor grow in a house that may not have been theirs.

DeleteI think it's funny them saying there were that many thousands of plants in the house. Yeah, maybe thousands of clones, but not full blown plants. You'd need super walmart sized house to do that... and way way more people working the grow then that. Media and drug agencies just tend to be dramatic.

Because the cost of electricity is very very Hugh to grow that amount of plants. This is money that they have to put upfront for a crop that can easily get messed up if not cared for properly. They should have made a smaller grow op, with a monthly electricity bill that they felt comfortable paying/gambling.

ReplyDeleteThis is my neck of the woods. Our foothills and low Sierra are filled with grows and almost no busts ever ocurr except for the occasional trophy bust or someone messing up and exposing themselves.

ReplyDeletethe bills most likely were paid, I wonder if the police setup a parked car outside and these guys started to come out and see who’s it was; usually parked outside in front of the property for the first half of the day. I’ve seen it in modesto many times, keep calm and don’t pay attention to the police man trying to ask about his own car. Trimmers should always stay the night but of course people get carried away and lost it all. What’s wrong with 99 plants? idiots.
