New clashes are reported in Corral de Piedra and Polixtepec, Sierra de Guerrero

Inhabitants of the town of Corral de Piedra, located in the mountainous area of the municipality of Leonardo Bravo, denounced that since yesterday there is an armed confrontation between two criminal groups because Santiago Mazari Hernandez is allegedly refugee in this place, "El Carrete", leader of Los Rojos that operates in Morelos.

Chilpancingo, Gro. July 30, 2019: On Tuesday afternoon inhabitants of the Sierra de Guerrero report strong clashes between two armed groups in the towns of Corral de Piedra and Polixtepec, belonging to the municipality of Leonardo Bravo (Chichihualco).

Through social networks, inhabitants of these villages and family members who live in other places, report that from 10:00 in the morning members of two armed groups began to confront them, leaving women, children and older adults trapped inside their homes with the fear of being hit by bullets.
The clashes in these villages began from Sunday morning and to date none of the three government orders have made known the situation in that mountain area that is kidnapped by criminal groups that dispute the territory.

Official reports indicate that since last Saturday at least three people were found, along with blankets in different parts of Morelos and messages were disseminated on social networks where war is warned by the control of the Chilpancingo-Cuernavaca corridor, former bastion of the cartel of the Beltrán Leyva.

The reports indicate that this battle, which involves the remnants of the group founded by the late capo Arturo Beltrán Leyva and who continue to operate in Guerrero and Morelos, is led by the alliance formed by "El Carrete" and Juan Castillo Gómez "El Teniente" and antagonistic groups such as Cartel del Sur and the community guard of Tlacotepec.

Castillo Gómez is the leader of a split of the community police in Tlacotepec, which is directed by Onesimo Marquina Chapa, "El Necho", and Humberto Moreno, cousin of the current Secretary of Social Development of the state government, Mario Moreno Arcos, the official versions point out.

An audio broadcast on social networks and attributed to El Carrete, warns that the community guard of Tlacotepec that last year took by force several towns in the municipality of Leonardo Bravo and caused a wave of murders, disappeared and displaced by violence, is currently divided.

On one side is "El Carrete" and "El Teniente", and on the other faction is "El Necho", Humberto Moreno and Salvador Alanís, the messages indicate.

Even Santiago Mazari reveals in the same audio, that he supported the community of Tlacotepec with money and hitmen to take the town Filo de Caballos, and now he said he was betrayed by his ex-allies.

In response, the antagonistic group left a blanket in Morelos next to an executed man where they affirm that "El Carrete" is hiding in the town of Corral de Piedra, municipality of Leonardo Bravo and considered as the cradle of Jesús Nava Romero "El Rojo", former owner of Arturo Beltrán, who at the time of splendor of that cartel, was in charge of the Chilpancingo-Cuernavaca corridor.

Nava Romero died with Beltrán Leyva during an armed confrontation with Marines in the city of Cuernavaca in December 2009. Jesús Nava, responsible for having beheaded nine soldiers in Chilpancingo, Guerrero, on December 21, 2009, died during the confrontation in which Arturo Beltrán Leyva, the chiefs of bosses, died also.

After this exchange of messages and accusations involving authorities of the three levels and the Army in Morelos and Guerrero, an armed confrontation was reported in Corral de Piedra, a place located 124 kilometers from the capital of the entity and which is reached later to overcome just over two hours of winding roads of the Sierra de Guerrero.

Inhabitants of this town sierreño spread messages asking the state government for help, arguing that two armed groups have been exchanging shrapnel and society for a day in the middle of the armed conflict.

So far, no authority has set a position on this fact that involves criminals from Morelos and Guerrero who seek control of the Chilpancingo - Cuernavaca corridor.
