Ain’t no party like a prison party!

San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas -  With a banda musical ensemble, prisoners from the 'El Amate' prison held a party recently. In addition alcoholic drinks were also served. Inmates with a varying degree of crimes as well as their relatives were in attendance.

In a video that circulates on social networks, one can see that the prisoners were singing next to the banda members. Some of them hold glasses while others held beer.

Prisoners clearly inebriated sing, whistle, and shout. Many raise their hands while others were recording videos with their smart phones.

Some of the excited inmates sing fragments of the hit song  Gente de Accionar (People of Action), from the band Grupo Codiciado, “Put a pen to it, I had nothing and look where I am right now / I am a seasoned rooster and here we unmistakably walk , I wanted to gain / I am a person of action…".

It was learned that the party took place in the Modulo Azul dormitory, which is controlled by El G-U, an individual with a conviction for the crime of manslaughter.

El G-U, is the authoritative head in that area. He’s turned the place into a place where women and children related to prisoners can spend the night.

Just Thursday, relatives of a young man who is incarcerated at El Amate prison denounced that for not paying 15 thousand pesos in extortion was severely beaten. Which caused him to have to be admitted to a hospital.

In recent years, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) has issued several recommendations to the Chiapas government. For the self-government that prevails in the prison, which has led to murders and aggressions against inmates.
The Human Rights Commission has requested for this practice to be eradicated.

It was only after the video went viral that the Secretary of Public Security, Gabriela Zepeda promised that the agency’s legal department would act according to law."

He also said he instructed that "an exhaustive investigation be carried out and proceed according to law."

And he said that "all the investigation resources will be exhausted, so that they proceed according to law, and in case of finding actions that have violated the norms, they will proceed accordingly.

The Secretariat made a statement that the director of the El Amate prison, Pascual Martínez Cervantes, has not allowed any musical group access, nor have events like the one seen in the been held."

For his part, the Undersecretary of Criminal Sanctions and Security Measures, José Miguel Alarcón García, said he "has full control" of the prison, because "there is no prison overpopulation."

  2. Las muertas son las que no pueden decir que no, ni que si.
Self government and politics have no room in any prison anywhere in the world, head commissioners and directors need to spend time inside without body guards to test their management.
I would let the people chose some condemned to the hole rairaway, secret vote, independent vigilance of the prison managers, again no politics.

  3. Why? Why have Mexican politicians let Mexico become this? 😒😕 Mexico has a lot of potential to become a powerful, rich country then people wouldn’t need to immigrate and endure the abuses of being “illegal” these people don’t love anybody

    2. Mexico will always be self ruled in states because the state alligence is so strong while many Mexicans are proud of the Mexico 🇲🇽 country they will to great length to not have the federal Govt control their state. This is one way that many groups I believe are able to control vast areas of territory because if ur not afraid of the federal Govt the state government and local districts are more easily controlled by family connections , extortion, corruption so forth.

    5. 11:06~ I agree with you and think you make a very compelling point. Almost like how the US was during the war for independence in the late 1700s... states banded together

    7. When Salinas was presidente, the states were given a lot of autonomy about controlling their finances, as a result robbing from the state coffers became more and more institutionalized, coupled with laws that declared stealing and public corruption IS not a grave crime, AMLO is battling that in Congress, Senate and Supreme Court, also in his own administration...
--That has caused many multiple pronged attacks by journalists paid by anybody with 'beef lost' that wants to protect their ill gotten fortunes, their huachicol, their union positions, gigantic pensions, stolen properties, and their chayote.
--AMLO has answered to Michele Bachelet and UN attacks against him and his administration directed by these same crooks and liars that abuse any body's ignorance without regard for truth, they believe that whoever hits first gets to hit two times.
One should he aware of manipulators with personal dirty reasons misleading with their lies and falsehoods, not just in Mexico but on the US too, there has been a declaration of domestic threat by American bought and sold bots propagating lies paid for by their lying masters and puppeteers. Beware of the Dogs!

  5. Once AMLO sees this he is going to put a stop to it. At that point it will be the state government officials responsibility to follow through, and they better too because AMLO is really trying to clean house.

  6. If I were Mexican I’d be pretty pissed off at this shit. Your in prison for a reason and no matter how big or small the reason, it shouldn’t involve parties or alcohol. But what do I know?

    1. 10:57 AM Same thing happens in the US just on a smaller scale. Their is a YouTuber who films himself from inside the prison who talks about this. He has done 10 years in the pen 4 or so years in the big boy prison and 6 or so in a minimum security prison which allows him to do his blogs.

    2. 10:57 nothing wrong to having fun anywhere in the world, in prison people will have fun some way or another.
What is facked up is the abuses perpetrated by those who "get control" and extort and abuse other prisoners because they bought the wardens and directors who give up the authority but at the end of the day can't shake the responsibility.
Democratic control by the majority of prisoners would be better, all they have to do is denounce the criminals abusing them and cleaning out the motherfackers and their henchmen.

  12. Amlo was the mystery guest at the party. He had a few beers then read poems specifically written for this occasion. It's rumored Amlo had a couple tears in his eyes when he left. He was so upset with the inhumane treatment of the inmates - a party only twice a month. He vowed to get that changed to once a week and he (Amlo) would come to the next party. Thank God - Amlo is almost a saint.
