Martin Arzola Ortega was arrested in July 2011, in an operation carried out by elements of the Federal Police in Tlajomulco.
The man shot dead inside a Carl’s Jr. fast food restaurant at Plaza Galerías was unofficially identified as Martín Arzola Ortega, aka El 53, one of the founders of the CJNG,
María Luisa Aguirre Solís, wife of the governor of Nayarit, Antonio Echevarría García, was in the fast-food restaurant where this afternoon there was a shooting that left two dead in the Plaza Galerías de Zapopan, Jalisco.

Arzola Ortega was arrested in July 2011, in an operation carried out by elements of the Federal Police in Tlajomulco. In the same action, his right hand man was arrested, Érick José Alcázar Limón, aka El Niño, who was responsible for the transfer of money, product of their illegal activities, as well as obtaining information and security houses for members of the now defunct organization La Resistencia. This emerged after the fall of Oscar Orlando Nava Valencia, aka Lobo Valencia, leader of the Millennium Cartel, also defunct.
Federal investigations identified Arzola Ortega as allegedly responsible for the control of the CJNG cells in the municipalities of Guadalajara, Zapopan, Tonalá, Tlaquepaque and Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, under the direct orders of Nemesio Oseguera, aka El Mencho.
In December 2015, he was sentenced to 24 years in prison by a third judge of the Federal Criminal Procedure District in the State of Mexico, based in the city of Toluca, when he was found guilty of the commission of organized crime, crimes against health and carrying of a firearm for the exclusive use of the Army.
It is unknown when and why he regained his freedom. The first criminal activities of El 53 were the theft of cargo transportation in 1998. He was arrested and sentenced to eight months in prison.

I walk around with my Dorados and Tomateros gear on and I sport my gear anywhere my ass takes me just like I sport my SF Giants and 49ers gear.
You say Michoacános are in Sinaloa, ya they are and they are working the fields or out in the costera fishing. I personally know families from los municipos de Chinicuila and Arteaga who live near my moms ranch nearby guamuchil working. They are hard working people and very humble but them themselves have told me most people from Michoacán who go to Sinaloa go to work save up and keep moving north. Don’t try to tell me otherwise about the people my family and I personally know.
Not that long ago a posting here on B.B. showed where my family is from and when los chapitos (chapos sons) gave clothing, blankets and beds to the people in el rancho and believe it or not some of those people who call rancho “home” are some of those people who are from Michoacán.
Am not on here to tell my families story but my family gives those people jobs with good pay and they are not trafficking nor killing.

@2:22 I did read the article. As well as other articles that stated 85 and 53 were either with CJNG or had gone to CNP because they blamed M for their arrest. With plenty of sources stating that MZ (or someone in CDS) was financing CNP in a bid to take over Guadalajara, it would make sense that MZ also financed the mysterious releases of 85 and 53.
