An anonymous complaint from villagers allowed National Guard (GN) personnel , in coordination with the Attorney General of the State of Guanajuato, to locate several clandestine graves on the slopes of the Pelón hill, in the community of Rincón de Tamayo, in Celaya, Guanajuato.
The State Prosecutor's Office reported that, in an area of at least 200 square meters, there were several graves where remains of at least 8 to 15 or possibly 20 people were located.
Experts of the Prosecutor's Office and personnel of the State Forensic Medical Service worked on the recovery of the bone remains, to start the identification work and open the corresponding investigation folders.
We will be carrying out the investigations of the cases we have in order to identify them,” stated Carlos Zamarripa, Attorney General of Guanajuato.
The work of collecting the remains by experts from the Prosecutor's Office and the Forensic Medical Service was interrupted by the rain.
For a week, an intense military operation has been carried out in the region against the dispute between criminal cells. Dozens of National Guard elements seek to control the dispute between the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (El Marro) and Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) , whom the authorities place as the main rival groups.
The proximity of the municipality of Celaya with the feared triangle of the huachicol, and the siege of the cartels, turned the place into a breeding ground that led to the crisis like the one that is being lived today.
This situation ended up affecting the most vulnerable: workers, merchants and the general population.
Recently, it was exposed that the extortion and the collection of fees (piso) to the businessmen of the tortillerías has forced them to close their businesses. On August 5, the murder of three women who were in a tortilleria was recorded.
The murder took place after a complaint that the victims made for alleged extortion. It transpired that the aggressors could belong to the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, who "claimed" the floor right by paying with their lives.
At the beginning of the week, Infantry Lieutenant Carlos Anastacio Juan lost his life after protecting a mother and daughter during an armed confrontation.
Security elements were preparing to dismantle a security house in Loma de Zempoala, municipality of Yuriria, Guanajuato , but the criminals were already waiting for them like a burst of gunfire.
That same day, the arrest of at least 14 alleged hitmen of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) that were related to several murders committed in Guanajuato was announced.
Those involved carried four long and five short weapons, and drug packages with the CJNG badge.
