The control of criminal groups for the collection of floor in night establishments and the production or sale of drugs, among other crimes, increased violence in several regions of Michoacán, warned commanders of the State and Army Police.

The authorities have placed red spotlights in the area adjacent to the state of Jalisco, in Uruapan and Morelia, in the highway that runs Apatzingán to Coalcomán, and in the port of Lázaro Cárdenas.

The streak of clashes between criminal groups increased the number of victims of malicious homicide by 22.3 percent, from 1,488 to 1,820 people killed between January and November 2018 and 2019, respectively, according to figures from the National Security System Public (SNSP).

Official sources consulted indicated that one of the criminal groups that fights these places is the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), which began its incursion in Michoacán since 2013, with the lifting of the "self-defense groups" under the command of Juan José Farías Álvarez "Abuelo”.

In the end, both the criminal and social movement weakened the Knights Templar, headed by Servando Gómez "La Tuta".

However, The Viagras increased their power and confronted the CJNG for control of cities near Jalisco, such as Zamora, Tocumbo, Los Reyes, Jiquilpan, Sahuayo, Venustiano Carranza, Tanhuato, Yurécuaro and La Piedad, north of the State.

The clash between the two groups also extended to the corridor that departs from Apatzingán and passes through Buenavista Tomatlán, Tepalcatepec - where gunmen from "El Abuelo" confronted a CJNG cell in August with a balance of nine dead - Coalcomán, Aquila and Coahuayana.

In the mining area of Aguililla, in an ambush involving more than 30 armed civilians, 13 state police officers were killed for allegedly protecting one of the criminal groups.

In the Aguacatera region of Peribán, Tancítaro and Uruapan, Los Viagras and the CJNG also clashed in various bloody events.

In August, an attack by the Jalisco group in Uruapan left 19 people dead, of which nine were hanged on bridges, including two women.

Morelia, the state capital, has not been saved from the wave of violence between the two criminal groups.

At the beginning of December, in just two days, 15 people were executed in different events. In some cases it was indicated that they were drug dealers selling drugs from an antagonistic group.

Last Friday, an armed group aboard at least 15 trucks with the CJNG logo broke into Zamora, a city of 145,000 inhabitants. The criminals vandalized, burned, burned houses and allegedly kidnapped two people.

Last May, also in Zamora, a CJNG command took control of the streets of that city aboard some 50 trucks labeled with their initials.

In their irruption, the hooded and armed subjects killed four municipal policemen, shot at the house of the City Council Secretary, David Martínez Gowman, and against the windows and walls of the Regional Hospital.
