Of all
the posada celebrations, and events I had enjoyed over the years working with my family foundation and the children of Mexico, United States and Central America, it is
this photo that is the stand out for me.
It was
at a Posada in Coahuila, where about 1500 children attended, from 6 schools for the
disabled in the state. We bused the children in for a magical day.
I asked the fire chief if he could bring “Santa” on top the fire truck. The children excitedly
gathered outside to wait. There was
this little guy in a wheelchair waiting in front.
The photo was taken the minute he spotted
Santa coming around the corner. I LOVE
this photo! The pure joy on his face is
priceless.
I also
want to share this Christmas Card I sent out on behalf of my foundation
depicting some of my kids..
Merry Christmas to all of you, from all of us at Borderland Beat!
Love,
Chivis

Sandrita
is a twin who was born very prematurely. She is
Deaf-Blind. We funded her Cochlear
Implant and one year of housing-travel to Monterrey for therapy. She was the first child to receive a Cochlear
Implant in Mexico. I was in the tiny
room the day the implant was activated.
Her parents, me, two techs and two physicians crammed into a exam room
witnessing an absolute miracle that profoundly changed her life.
It was the greatest honor of my life and not a dry
eye in the place.
Sandrita and her twin in Monterrey 4 days after surgery. They were 5 Years Old. They are now 7th graders |
May God bless and keep you today and always.

ReplyDeleteAnyone expressing an opinion and is open will not be able to please everyone. It is best not to be be caught up in having it effect you. I am a people person, a lover of people especially little ones who are so entertaining, and filled with wonder.
DeleteI hold back in saying what I would say if not restraint by being a contributor. Sol is still learning lol
It was my foundation work that took me to Mexico, totally naive to Narcos. A friend suggest I follow Borderland Beat and the rest is history :)
hey chivis,

-The Australiano
Hola Mitchell---awwww Australia been there only once when I lived in Malaysia. I would love to return and stay for at least a month.
DeleteThank you for your offer to donate, we are a 401c3 and we set ourselves up as a family donation that is self funded. BUT I have friends with foundations that need funds. I can suggest Paper Houses that works along the border and founded by my mentor. Bob Decker helped me from the beginning and guided me in everything. I love the man and will forever be grateful to him and many other big hearted Texans that took me in and helped me with all that I needed to get a fast and strong start with the foundation. We began along the border but we have now worked from the border to chiapas [with the zapatistas] and 13 Mexican states. also to Nicaragua and Guatemala. I began thinking I would work in a couple of border states but as many things in life it took on a life of its own. It has been my best life these past 15 years.
Abrazos to you Aussie

ReplyDeleteNormally I say no to liquor. But it just doesn’t seem to listen to me.
DeleteSol El burachos, just don't hang around outside, as one would want to put a manta on you, stay indoors if you drink.
DeleteSol, Merry Christmas brother, that guy didn't define what constitutes too much .But I just wanted to say I appreciate your translations and your personal input. This is a blog, have at it. Thanks
Delete@6:23 Thank you kindly. We appreciate your presence on this blog. Whatever it takes to put an end to the evil happening throughout Latin America I’m down for. As a head up I want everyone to know I’ve got an ugly post coming up. Please don’t look if you can’t stand to see the horrors that no one has been able to stop.
DeleteMerry Christmas, everyone!

I can't even imagine the thrill of being in that room when the chochlear was turned on and having a personal relationship with the child and parents. I saw that done on a documentary. the child cried I imagine from fear having never hearing a sound before that day.

ReplyDeleteDonnie, my brother was murdered during this time and he is always in our minds especially during Christmas, but long ago we replaced the tears of sorrow with tears of laughter thinking of him and the amazing memories of the time we had him.
DeleteI am hoping that if that time for you hasn't come yet, that it soon will. Your brother touched many hearts in the U.S., and Mexico, I know because folks wrote in and expressed as much.

As we go forward in 2020, I want Amlo to be successful, but if he doesn't stop this Violence, I think the Mexican economy will go down the tubes. At this point he has not presented a plan, to stop the Violence.
ReplyDeleteMerry Xmas to all. Let us hope that 2020 will be the year when all your problems get solved.
